Reborn in the Post-Apocalyptic World: Building Infrastructure

Chapter 28: The Electric Arc in Geng Hao’s Hands

Sheng Hongye didn't say anything, but his gaze looked inquisitively at Su Ling.

Feeling somewhat guilty, Su Ling quickly turned her face to the other side.

"In any case, the world is very mysterious, and many things cannot be easily explained."

Sheng Hongye neither confirmed nor denied it. "Does Miss Su believe Liu Yu?"

Su Ling shrugged. "I can't determine the truth. I just felt it necessary to let you know."

"Hmm, I will consider it."

As they spoke, they had already arrived on the third floor.

Gu Kai Xuan immediately pushed past Li Xueying and ran over.

"Uncle."

Sheng Hongye reached out and hugged Gu Kai Xuan, ruffling his small head. "Don't be afraid, everything's fine now."

Gu Kai Xuan nodded vigorously, obediently said, "Uncle, don't worry, Kai Xuan is very brave."

"Brother Ye, I'm so scared."

Li Xueying called out, walking on her high heels and getting close to Sheng Hongye, clinging to his arm possessively.

Su Ling looked at her with disgust and returned to her room.

As soon as she opened the door, Geng Hao shouted, "Sister Su Ling, where is Liu Yu?"

Su Ling sighed. "He left."

"Ah, when did he leave?"

Geng Hao walked into the room excitedly.

In his heart, he always felt closer to Su Ling and Liu Yu, while Sheng Hongye's people were a separate team.

Su Ling could only tell the truth. "He left when the zombies arrived."

Geng Hao clenched his fists in frustration. "This traitor actually abandoned us and left."

Su Ling helplessly said, "Let it go. Everyone has their own goals, and we can't blame Liu Yu."

Geng Hao still had anger in his eyes and said indignantly, "If I see him again, I won't let him off."

Geng Hao clenched his fist, and Su Ling suddenly noticed a faint arc of electricity at his fingertips.

But when she looked again, it was gone.

Su Ling felt surprised and looked at Geng Hao, asking, "Did you notice anything strange?"

Geng Hao gave Su Ling a puzzled look, then shook his head in bewilderment.

"I didn't notice anything strange. What's wrong, Sister Su Ling?"

Su Ling figured she might have been mistaken and smiled, saying, "It's nothing. You should go back and rest for a while. There might be more zombies at night."

Geng Hao worriedly said, "There are only a few of us left in the base now. If more zombies come, I don't know if we can withstand them."

Su Ling patted his shoulder and gently said, "Let's not think too much about that right now. Just go back, eat something, and get some rest. We can think about how to handle things later tonight."

"I understand, Sister Su Ling. I'll go back now."

After Geng Hao left, the room fell silent.

Su Ling leaned back on the sofa, her delicate eyebrows furrowing slowly.

She kept replaying the details from earlier in her mind, feeling certain that she hadn't been mistaken – there had indeed been arcs of electricity around Geng Hao's hand.

Could it be true that, just like in many post-apocalyptic movies, everything was evolving rapidly in a short period?

Zombies were no longer afraid of sunlight, and humans were developing supernatural abilities?

Thinking back to Liu Yu's confident expression while speaking, Su Ling felt more and more that this world was becoming increasingly mysterious.

If she could have the system, what else might be possible?

But if that were the case, did it mean that the people left in the base would also die in the end?

The thought of this possibility made Su Ling restless.

Pacing back and forth in her room, Su Ling eventually pushed the door open and entered the corridor and knocked on Sheng Hongye's room door.

After a moment, the door opened, and Sheng Hongye's tall figure appeared at the doorway.

Clearly, he had just finished taking a shower, as there were still water droplets in his hair.

His waist was wrapped in a snow-white bath towel, revealing his muscular upper body and long thighs.

Su Ling's face turned slightly red, and she took a step back.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know you were taking a bath."

"It's alright, come in."

Sheng Hongye turned back into the room, and Su Ling pursed her lips, steeling herself and following him inside.

"I still want to talk to you about Liu Yu."

Like a thief, feared Li Xueying suddenly intruded to cause trouble, Su Ling decided to make the conversation short and left quickly after she finished speaking.

Sheng Hongye grabbed a robe and draped it over himself, leaning against the window, and asked, "Do you think we should listen to him and head east?"

Su Ling nodded, speaking logically, "With such a large base, we definitely can't defend against more zombies if they come again. It's better to abandon it and find another hiding place."

Sheng Hongye glanced at his watch; it was almost four o'clock, and they had only three hours until dark. He frowned.

"If we don't find a hiding place within three hours, we might encounter a large group of zombies."

Su Ling thought for a moment and said, "This plan does have its risks, but if the zombies do launch a massive attack tonight, what should we do?"

Sheng Hongye didn't say anything, seemingly lost in thought.

Su Ling also felt anxious.

This decision was truly difficult to make, and she wasn't sure if her choice was right or wrong. If she made the wrong decision, it could lead to the deaths of everyone.

So, she was torn. She wanted Sheng Hongye to agree with her proposal, but at the same time, she wished he would reject it entirely and put her worries to rest.

A minute later, Sheng Hongye looked up.

"They say women's intuition is accurate, so I've decided to trust Miss Su. I'll inform them, and we'll set off immediately."

"Alright."

Su Ling nodded firmly, hoping she hadn't made a mistake. After speaking, she quickly left the room to pack her belongings.

Five minutes later, Sheng Hongye, along with the other six people, including Gu Kai Xuan and Li Xueying, came downstairs.

Everyone followed Sheng Hongye's lead without any objections, and only Li Xueying glared at Su Ling with resentment.

Being here allowed them to take showers and wear makeup, but if they left, they might have to return to living like savages. She was completely unwilling.

Unfortunately, no one paid any attention to her dissatisfaction. Three minutes later, three cars left the base and headed east.

Just under ten minutes after they left, Lizhou was once again attacked by zombies. The people at Zhongxing Community had suffered heavy losses after facing a wave of zombie attacks. Shen Laohe immediately ordered everyone to block the entrance, while he and a few trusted followers, including Wei Zixuan and Su Rou, quickly drove away from the back door.

Another community was also filled with corpses, and those who were bitten were quickly assimilated. In less than half an hour, the once bustling Lizhou had truly turned into a dead city.

Su Ling and the others continued to the east. After an hour, they saw a row of two-story villas by the side of the road.

The sign read "Longfeng Tourist Village."

By now, it was already dim outside.

Sheng Hongye stopped the car and instructed one of his subordinates named Er Lei, "Go and see if anyone's there. If not, we'll stay here for the night. It's too dangerous to travel in the dark."

"Got it."

Er Lei got out of the car, walked to the villa's entrance, and knocked on the door.

After waiting for a while, there was no response. Just as he was about to lean over to look through the window, a claw pierced through the glass and grabbed him.
