Reborn in the Post-Apocalyptic World: Building Infrastructure

Chapter 50: Wearing a Floral Headscarf, the Style is Very Unique

In the instant of passing by, Sheng Hongye caught sight of Liu Yu. He immediately turned the steering wheel and rushed towards the exit.

Liu Yu and his companions promptly abandoned their car and ran into a chaotic pile of ruins.

Sheng Hongye and Geng Hao got out of the car, and Li Xueying followed suit.

"Brother Ye, what's going on?" Li Xueying asked.

Sheng Hongye's face darkened, and he whispered, "Shut up."

Liu Yu's appearance had only one purpose: to capture Su Ling.

Just the thought of Su Ling being taken away by these people made Sheng Hongye inexplicably annoyed.

Li Xueying immediately sealed her lips.

However, it wasn't long before she spoke up again.

"Brother Ye, there are zombies."

Following Li Xueying's pointing finger, they indeed saw over a dozen zombies crawling out from under the debris with eerie postures.

Geng Hao said in a low voice, "Boss Sheng, I think we should head back. Sister Su Ling should be fine."

Seeing the approaching zombies, Sheng Hongye had to make a quick decision and immediately got back into the car.

Ten minutes later, the car returned to the base. They saw Han Qiang and Chen Yu's car had also come back, and Geng Hao hurriedly closed the gate.

Gu Kai Xuan immediately ran out and hugged Sheng Hongye.

"Uncle, wuwu..."

Being so young and frightened, the child felt both aggrieved and scared, bursting into tears.

"Kai Xuan, be good, don't cry. If the zombies hear us, we won't be able to sleep tonight."

Gu Kai Xuan quickly covered his mouth and whispered, "That bad uncle with the surname Liu is going to capture Aunt Su again."

"Uncle knows."

Sheng Hongye rubbed his nephew's little head and took out a metal toy car from his pocket.

"This is for you from Uncle. Do you like it?"

Gu Kai Xuan instantly beamed with joy and took the toy car. "I like it, thank you, Uncle."

Seeing the child's happy expression, Sheng Hongye's throat tightened.

In the past, there was nothing at the Sheng family that Gu Kai Xuan would even spare a glance for, but now he's so happy about it!

Su Ling and Guan Yuxin also came out, casually asking, "How did it go? Any gains?"

Guan Yuxin followed up, "Did you catch that guy surnamed Liu?"

Geng Hao cursed, "No, that bastard got away. Sister Su Ling, are you okay?"

"Of course, I'm fine. Otherwise, I wouldn't be standing here talking to you. I have to thank Professor Bai. He saved me and Kai Xuan," Su Ling said.

Professor Bai blushed but couldn't hide his pride in his eyes.

Waving his hand modestly, he said, "It was just a small effort. It's nothing. It's all thanks to Miss Su's quick thinking."

Sheng Hongye immediately put down Gu Kai Xuan and looked at Su Ling. "What exactly happened?"

Professor Bai immediately recounted the incident vividly. As Sheng Hongye looked at Su Ling, his eyes seemed to hold something more.

Su Ling didn't want to steal the limelight. It wasn't surprising to do something unexpected in the face of danger.

"Let's move things first. As long as everyone is okay," she said.

She opened the trunk and was pleasantly surprised to find two bags of flour and some instant noodles. For someone who loved noodles like her, this was definitely worth celebrating.

Guan Yuxin saw shower gel in the trunk and exclaimed, "Who found this? They deserve praise."

Snatching the shower gel with one hand, a smug tone in her voice, she said, "Isn't it supposed to be distributed based on labor? I found this, so don't even think about it."

Seeing the owner of the hand, Guan Yuxin rolled her eyes.

"Why does it smell like spoiled green tea? So disgusting. Forget it, Su Ling, let's go move the things over there."

Su Ling knew she was scolding Li Xueying and couldn't help but laugh.

Li Xueying was infuriated but couldn't retaliate since she wasn't called out by name. Otherwise, it would be provoking trouble.

In no time, everyone finished moving the supplies.

In the evening, Su Ling still cooked while Guan Yuxin helped.

Watching Su Ling rolling the dough for noodles, Guan Yuxin couldn't help but curse, "That girl surnamed Li is so irritating. I've had enough of her. One day, I'll shut her mouth for good."

Su Ling responded with a smile, "Sure, just don't forget to bring me when that happens."

Guan Yuxin immediately brightened up. "You said it! Oh, by the way, I'll be cooking tomorrow. Let's endure one more day, and the day after tomorrow, I want to go out to find supplies. Su Ling, do you want to come with me?"

"Isn't gathering supplies a man's job? Why do you want to go?" Su Ling asked.

"Some things are better searched for by women. It's too inconvenient for men. In a few days, my period will start."

Hearing this, Su Ling felt a slight pain in her lower abdomen. She had forgotten about it; her menstrual cycle seemed to be coming too.

"Alright, I'll accompany you."

"Okay, it's a deal!"

Guan Yuxin extended her pinky finger and hooked it around Su Ling's.

That night, everyone finally bid farewell to fast food and had a bowl of noodles with luncheon meat.

Learning that Su Ling made it, Chen Yu immediately praised, "I didn't expect Sister Su Ling to have such good culinary skills. I love noodles the most."

Sheng Hongye nodded in agreement. "Indeed, it's really good."

Su Ling smiled and didn't say anything.

Li Xueying and Su Rou glanced at each other, seeing the hatred and jealousy in each other's eyes.

The next day, Sheng Hongye reestablished the plan.

Search for items in the morning, reinforce the buildings in the afternoon.

Luckily, no zombies attacked the base these two days, and everyone got a rare good rest.

On the third day, it was Li Xueying's turn to cook. Guan Yuxin immediately went to plead with Han Qiang and Chen Yu, asking them to take her and Su Ling out.

The two dared not decide on their own and went to find Sheng Hongye.

"What are you going out for? Tell us what you need, and we'll bring it back for you."

Su Ling felt a little embarrassed but plucked up the courage to say, "We need to find some personal items that would be inconvenient for you guys."

Sheng Hongye immediately understood.

He took out two scarves from the trunk and handed them to Su Ling.

"Get in the car, wrap up tightly."

As Su Ling tied the scarf, she somehow felt like she was a landmine thief.

Guan Yuxin burst into laughter.

"Your look is just so unique."

Su Ling glared at her. "Stop talking nonsense and let's go."

Sheng Hongye also turned back, looking at Su Ling wrapped in a floral scarf, and couldn't help but lift the corner of his mouth.

Su Ling felt uncomfortable being watched and urged, "Let's go quickly. The sun will be even hotter later."

Sheng Hongye acknowledged with a sound and stepped on the accelerator. The car quickly arrived at the city center.

However, it was now a wasteland, looking infinitely desolate.

"Get off. Be careful, and if anything happens, just shout."

"We know."

Su Ling jumped out of the car. It was her first time going out to collect supplies, and she felt inexplicably excited.

Guan Yuxin felt the same. Since the apocalypse began, she had been staying in the basement and had not gone out even after arriving at the base. She rushed excitedly into the garbage pile.

Su Ling quickly followed. "Stop playing around. We need to find things quickly."

Guan Yuxin also knew time was limited and began searching through the debris.

After searching around, they couldn't find anything useful.

"This isn't a supermarket at all, and even if we find something, it's no use. With two consecutive days of rain, everything is probably a breeding ground for bacteria," Guan Yuxin said dejectedly.

Su Ling nodded. "Let's go to those high-rise buildings over there. I see a few buildings there that are not damaged. Maybe we can find something useful."

Guan Yuxin immediately raised her hands in favor.

As the two entered the dilapidated building, a dark figure suddenly emerged from the darkness.
