Rebuilding Uchiha By Removing Fugaku

Chapter 85: Chapter 85

"S-rank mission?!"

Rasa looked at Toki in astonishment.

"Do you even know how much the commission is for an S-rank mission?"

Toki smiled slightly. "The starting price is 1 million ryo, right? Don't worry, money isn't an issue. But this is just a simple escort mission. Considering it's a cross-border task and that you're currently at war with Kirigakure, 1 million ryo should be reasonable, don't you think?"

Rasa's heart filled with joy.

This guy didn't know that Sunagakure was already negotiating a peace treaty with Kirigakure.

This task was practically effortless.

At that moment, Baki, standing behind Rasa, subtly signaled to him.

Understanding the hint, Rasa nodded and said to Toki, "Why don't you head to the inn for now and wait for news? If there's a ninja willing to take on your mission, we'll notify you immediately."

Toki casually strolled out of the reception room, escorted by an ANBU.

The moment he left, Baki eagerly approached Rasa.

"Lord Kazekage, did you read the intelligence report from the border?"

Rasa glanced at him. "Are you referring to the puppet car?"

Baki nodded enthusiastically.

"We saw it up close earlier—it's incredibly fast. If Sunagakure could replicate this technology, our mobility would improve tremendously!"

Rasa frowned. "Did he agree to sell it?"

Baki hesitated, scratching his nose. "I haven't asked yet, but I think it might be difficult. He seems to rely heavily on it for escape."

Rasa sighed. "If he won't sell, then what's the point? Taking it by force is not an option. Life in Sunagakure is already hard enough. If word got out that we betrayed an employer, it would tarnish the village's reputation."

Betraying an employer is a major taboo in the ninja world. Even rogue ninjas adhere to this principle. Organizations like Akatsuki or individuals like Zabuza faithfully complete the tasks they're paid for.

Unless they were provoked first, even rogue ninjas wouldn't risk assassinating their clients, as it would result in blacklisted reputations and massive bounties on their heads.

But Baki smirked mischievously.

"Lord Kazekage, have you forgotten? We already have someone who's heading to Kirigakure!"

Rasa raised an eyebrow. "Who?"

"Pakura!" Maki whispered with a knowing grin.

Rasa's eyes lit up.

Pakura!

Originally, they had planned to send her to Kirigakure secretly to fulfill the terms of the peace treaty, essentially sending her to her death.

Now, this S-rank escort mission seemed like the perfect excuse!

This situation was even better than Rasa could have hoped. Without hesitation, he decided to proceed with the plan.

The next day, Toki was led to a large public square filled with cheering crowds.

Standing on the Kazekage Tower balcony, Rasa raised his voice to address the gathered ninjas.

"The conspiracy by Iwagakure has been thwarted! Sunagakure has taken another step toward victory! This triumph is thanks to this hero!"

At that moment, Pakura emerged onto the stage, her presence captivating the crowd.

"Pakura of the Scorch Release! A true hero of Sunagakure!"

The crowd erupted in cheers, their voices reverberating through the square.

Many young ninjas gazed at Pakura with admiration, seeing her as a symbol of hope and strength.

Standing beside Toki, Baki whispered smugly, "How about that? This is the ninja who will escort you to Kirigakure—our village hero, Pakura! 1 million ryo is a generous offer. Normally, it would cost at least 10 million to hire someone of her caliber."

Toki clicked his tongue in admiration, recalling the tattoo on Pakura's back from the anime and thinking how much more striking she was in person.

With a playful grin, Toki responded, "A friendly price, indeed. I didn't expect Sunagakure to be so generous."

Baki puffed his chest out proudly, "In Sunagakure, we keep our word!"

Both men exchanged smiles, each secretly looking down on the other.

"What an idiot…"

---

Later, Toki was formally introduced to Pakura.

"This is Monkey D. Luffy, the client for this mission," Rasa said.

Pakura looked at Toki with a hint of surprise in her eyes.

"So handsome," she thought.

"Hello," she greeted warmly, her tone friendly despite her battlefield reputation.

Toki grinned, extending his hand. "Monkey D. Luffy, the man who will become the Pirate King. Nice to meet you."

"Pirate King?" Pakura asked, puzzled.

"Don't mind the details. Just a merchant doing business overseas," Toki replied with a chuckle.

"Ha, you're funny," Pakura said with a smile.

Rasa, observing their interaction, felt a vein throb in his temple.

"Ahem," Rasa interrupted, "Pakura has just returned from a mission and needs a few days to rest. Is it alright if you wait before departing?"

Pakura was about to protest, but Toki interjected with a smile, "Of course, I'd be honored to spend a few more days in the company of such a beautiful lady."

Pakura blushed slightly, giving Toki a playful glare.

Rasa's irritation grew, but he maintained his composure. "You two may leave to prepare. Pakura, make sure to get some rest."

Outside the Kazekage Tower, Pakura teased Toki, "You seem pretty experienced. Have you charmed many girls before?"

Toki replied earnestly, "Of course not. I never lie; everything I say is serious."

He added, "I just want to give every girl a home. Is that so wrong?"

Pakura laughed, shaking her head. "You're something else."

When Pakura saw this, she smiled sweetly and said, "Teacher!"

At that moment, a crisp voice called out from behind them, and a little girl with camouflage paint on her face came running over, gasping for breath.

Pakura turned around, surprised to see the girl. "Maki? What's the matter?"

The Genin named Maki looked excited. "Please train me, sensei!"

Pakura sighed helplessly. "I just returned from a mission..."

Maki smirked. "Is the teacher tired as well?"

Standing nearby, Toki stepped forward with a grin. "Seems like you've been deified."

Maki frowned upon hearing this and asked suspiciously, "Who are you?"

Toki smirked mischievously. "I'm your teacher's boyfriend."

"Eh?!" Maki's eyes widened in disbelief.

Pakura clicked her tongue in annoyance. "Stop joking around." She turned to Maki and explained, "This is the client who just issued a mission. I've been assigned to this task."

Toki interrupted playfully, "I plan to take your teacher out for a candlelit dinner. You can train with her after we're done eating."

Pakura rolled her eyes but didn't bother refuting him.

Maki glared at Toki, clearly displeased. "Fine, I'll come back later!" With that, she quickly ran off.

Toki chuckled, stroking his chin. "Not bad. She's got a good sense of timing, knowing when not to be a third wheel."

Pakura looked at him with an amused expression. "Your jokes are getting bolder."

Toki turned serious suddenly. "Who's joking? Haven't you heard of love at first sight?"

Pakura was caught off guard. "Eh?"

---

Half a day earlier, while Uchiha Toki was busy charming others, the Konoha Arena was filled with tension and boos.

The civilian students were losing badly. After the first event—Ninjutsu—they had been systematically outperformed by the children of the ninja clans in Taijutsu and Genjutsu as well. The difference in skill was evident, and the mood was somber.

If it weren't for the looming presence of Toki and the Uchiha clan, the crowd of civilians and lower-ranked ninjas might have erupted in anger.

The leader of the Uzuki clan approached Uchiha Setsuna with a smug smile. "Setsuna-san, the score is already 3:0. Let's just call it after this last event. You've seen it yourself; the children from your side can't possibly catch up."

He added, "Even if they manage to scrape by in this final event, the score will only be 3:1. A clear victory for us, wouldn't you agree?"

Setsuna sneered. "Sure, I concede you've won this match. But our Clan Leader Toki insisted the final comprehensive strength round must proceed. After all, it's a rare opportunity for the children to showcase their abilities."

The Uzuki clan leader chuckled, understanding Toki's supposed intent. "Ah, I see. It's just a chance for the kids to show off to their parents. That's fair. Toki's pragmatic approach is admirable. Truly, this new system of power-sharing has fostered unity. Back in Hiruzen Sarutobi's days, such compromises were rare."

With a grin, he patted Setsuna's shoulder. "Don't worry. We'll ensure the children continue to take the academy's assessments annually. We're all part of Konoha, after all."

Setsuna looked at the Uzuki clan leader with a sly grin. "No need. Clan Leader Toki said there's no point forcing you. From now on, the ninja clans are free to stop sending their children to the academy. But for this final event, may we provide our own referee?"

The Uzuki clan leader froze. "Wait, what? You're letting us withdraw?"

The abrupt concession made him suspicious. Why was Toki, known for his meticulous planning, suddenly so lenient?

Before he could press further, Setsuna waved his hand, signaling Uchiha Inari to step into the arena.

The civilian ninjas erupted in cheers.

"Teacher's here!"

Inari smiled as he placed a sealing scroll on the ground. "Alright, it's time to show your real strength."

The audience murmured in confusion.

"Real strength?"

"Is this some kind of joke?"

"Are they implying the kids were holding back? Ridiculous!"

Suddenly, a burst of white smoke revealed a large wooden box containing scientific ninja tools and Poké Balls confiscated before the competition began.

The Uzuki clan leader watched in horror as the civilian students eagerly donned specialized gloves and retrieved their Poké Balls—tools that had dominated recent battles against Kumogakure.

"What's the meaning of this, Setsuna-san?" he demanded.

Setsuna smirked. "What's the problem? In a test of overall strength, scientific ninja tools and summoning beasts count too. The academy now focuses on integrating technology with traditional techniques."

Nara Shikaku, observing from the sidelines, nodded knowingly. "So that's his game. Toki wouldn't let the ninja clans off so easily. He's making a statement."

As the civilian children activated their tools, their demeanor shifted. No longer submissive, they stood tall and confident. Kamano, leading the group, sneered at his previous opponent.

"Arrogant, weren't you? Let's see how tough you are now."

The Moonlight clan Genin, who had defeated Kamano in Taijutsu earlier, narrowed his eyes. "You're asking for it."

Kamano laughed mockingly, raising a hand. "Come on, I'll give you two feet and one hand's advantage!"

The Moonlight Genin clenched his fists in anger. "You'll regret this!"
