Refusing My God’s Advances

Chapter 44: System Selections

After spending the day with Lyra and then demons, and then eating supper, Shelli and I were finally able to crawl into our makeshift bed. We fooled around for a bit, but it was nothing like the night before. I still didn't complain.

After we were done, Shelli curled up next to me, laying her head on my chest with her purple hair covering much of my own body. She turned her head up to me with a smile and then kissed me.

"So? How was your second day?" She asked, and I kissed her back with a smile.

"I mean, besides almost having my hand turned to paste, and that silly hentai monster in the next cave, it was pretty good. Things were a bit tense with Aria and Mary for a bit, but I am over that now that they are being more open," I explained, and then grinned, thinking about the demons. "I had really thought the demons were going to be more trouble, but most of them just sleep all the time. I mean, I get it, but it just wasn't what I expected."

Shelli chuckled. "Well, sounds like quite the adventure. And the demons? Lazy bunch, huh?"

"Yeah, I mean, I've got a few that seem more active and curious, but for the most part, they just laze around. Maybe they need some motivation," I replied, teasingly.

Shelli raised an eyebrow. "Motivation, huh? What are you planning, Leon?"

I grinned mischievously. "We will see," I said and opened up my system menu. "I need to see what I can do with all the points that I have, and I want to go over them with you if that is okay?"

"Of course! Thank you for asking me, but I don't think I would be as good as Aria, or Mary when it comes to this stuff," Shelli explained, and I tipped my head to kiss the top of her head.

"I just want to go over it with you first. Even if I don't spend any points, I thought it might be fun if we look at them together?"

I wasn't used to trying to include other people in my life, but something made me want to share this first time with Shelli. She had been with me since I got to this world, and had stayed with me, and treated me well, even when I didn't trust her.

In response to my words, Shell hugged me tightly, and I felt my chest start to get wet. "Thank you, Leon. I appreciate you including me in this. Let's see what you've got," Shelli said with a warm smile as she wiped away a tear. I pulled up my system menu, and together we started going through the various options and points I had earned.

  1. System Menu
  2. Printer Menu
  3. Skill Menu
  4. Stat Menu

To start things off I opened my Stat Menu.

[STAT POINTS: 10]

"This is really just like a game, isn't it?" I asked, and Shelli giggled.

"I found it funny that the games in your world reflected ours more than your own does. It seems like everyone could only dream of having something like this happen," Shelli said, and I nodded, closing the menu.

I wasn't ready to add points yet without testing how they worked. Lying naked in bed with a beautiful angel in my arms was not the place for that.

"Very true, but my life wasn't horrible before. I might have been an introvert, but life was pretty good. I have read and watched many stories about people traveling to other worlds. It all sounds good and fun, but there is always a catch. Not only that, but there are all sorts of new things you have to learn,'' I explained, and Shelli giggled again.

"You really do think about things. Most people would have jumped at the chance to do this, but you bartered to get what you wanted. You didn't follow along with the evil god's plans. Even though you act lazy, I know that you will stop at nothing to achieve the perfect level of laziness!" Shelli laughed, and I couldn't help but hug her.

I had never really met a person that actually understood me. I wasn't trying to save the world, but it might happen if that was my only way to an easy life. I also didn't want to let that stupid god have the last laugh.

"You really are great," I laughed and opened up my skill menu.

[SKILLS]

[2 SKILL POINTS]

  1. Identify
  2. Restore
  3. Paint
  4. Alter
  5. Instant Print
  6.
  7.

The new skill was really going to come in handy if I ran into a super long print, but Restore still had to be my best skill. If I focused on them, I could see the information and cooldowns for each, but when I focused on the empty slot for my 6th skill, a set of options appeared.

  1. Acquire New Skill: Pick from a list of skills available to you at your current level.
  2. Skill Fusion: (Requires one open slot) Fuse two skills together to create a more powerful skill. The cost is the loss of one of the two skills chosen for the Skill Fusion is lost and replaced with another skill at random of the same level.

I looked at the options for the 6th skill slot and pondered my choices. Acquiring a new skill sounded appealing, but skill fusion intrigued me. It could potentially lead to a unique and powerful skill. Shelli looked at the menu with curiosity.

"What are you thinking, Leon?" she asked.

"I'm torn between acquiring a new skill or trying skill fusion. Acquiring a new skill might give me something immediately useful, but skill fusion could create a more powerful and unique ability. What do you think?" I replied, tapping my finger on the options.

Shelli thought for a moment before responding. "Skill fusion sounds risky, but it could lead to something extraordinary. On the other hand, acquiring a new skill ensures a known benefit. Maybe we should take a chance and go for skill fusion? It could be exciting."

I nodded in agreement. "You're right. Let's go for skill fusion. I like the idea of experimenting and seeing what kind of skill we can create. It adds a bit of unpredictability to the mix."

With our decision made, I selected the Skill Fusion option. The menu prompted me to choose two skills for fusion. I decided to fuse Paint and Alter, hoping to create a skill that combined the artistic elements of Paint with the transformative properties of Alter. The fusion process began, and a burst of energy emanated from the skill slot.

After a few moments, the fusion process was completed, and a new skill appeared in the 6th slot.

[SKILLS]

  1. Identify
  2. Restore
  3. Instant Print
  4. Fusion Artistry: Combine artistic creation with transformative alterations to craft unique and powerful effects.
  5. Paint
  6.
  7.

"Fusion Artistry, huh?" I mused, inspecting the description. "This could be interesting. I wonder what kind of effects we can achieve with this skill, but it is sad to see that Alter was the skill that was forgotten. Paint is a bit of a bland skill, but I guess it will help with decorating our new place?"

Both of us laughed, but then a box appeared, and names of what I guess were skills started to roll by. I guess this was going to be the random skill I got for forgetting Alter, but I wondered if there was a chance of me getting a better skill than Alter?
