Refusing My God’s Advances

Chapter 45: Playing With my Points

Shelli and I waited as the skills flew by. Some of them had obvious names like "Fireball," "Teleportation," and "Healing Touch." Others were more cryptic, like "Shadow Dance," "Ether Weaving," and "Dimensional Resonance."

"I wonder which one you'll get," Shelli said, watching the names scroll by.

"Yeah, it's a bit like a lottery. Let's see what fate has in store for me," I replied, anticipation building as the list of skills continued to cycle.

Suddenly, the scrolling slowed down, and one name caught my eye. The name that appeared was "Soul Bind." It sounded intriguing and mysterious, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. I selected Soul Bind, and the skill immediately appeared in the 6th slot.

[Soul Bind: Form a spiritual connection with a target, creating a link between their soul and yours. This connection allows for shared emotions, limited telepathy, and the potential for unique synergies. Cooldown: 24 hours.]

Shelli raised an eyebrow. "That's quite a unique skill. It seems like it could have various applications. Do you have any idea how you might use it?"

I scratched my head, contemplating the possibilities. "I'm not entirely sure yet. The shared emotions and limited telepathy could be useful for communication and understanding others on a deeper level. As for the unique synergies, I guess we'll have to experiment and see what happens."

Shelli nodded. "It's always good to have versatile skills. Now, what about your other skill point? You still have one left, right?"

I nodded and selected the 7th slot. This time, I chose to open my unused skill list to pick one of them.

Well, I had some regrets about using Skill Fusion before checking this list, but I would just have to live with it. Each of the skills looked pretty cool, but the fact that it listed the downsides for each was just awesome.

"Shelli, who made this system?" I asked, looking down at her, and she turned her head away from the screen to look up at me.

"I really don't know. I understand how Garland got to where he was, but I don't know what could have made something so strange. Before Garland, there wasn't anything like him, so I don't know what could have created this," Shelli explained, and I nodded, motioning to the skill selection that was still open.

"What do you think? What skill stands out to you the most?" I asked, and Shelli turned back to my system menu.

Shelli studied the list of skills, tapping her finger against her chin in thought. "Well, each of them has its own unique advantages and drawbacks. It depends on your preferred playstyle and how you want to approach challenges."

After a moment, she pointed to the "Guardian Golems" option. "This one seems interesting. Having customizable bodyguards could provide additional protection and support in various situations. Plus, the versatility of being able to customize their abilities based on your needs is a significant advantage."

I considered her suggestion, realizing the potential benefits of having magical golems at my disposal. "You're right; Guardian Golems could be a valuable asset. They might also help with handling the demons on the island or assist in exploration. What do you think?"

Shelli nodded in agreement. "It sounds like a practical choice. Having magical constructs that can adapt to different situations is a versatile skill. Plus, it aligns well with your focus on using the printer for various purposes."

With Shelli's input, I selected "Guardian Golems" as my seventh skill. The new skill appeared in the designated slot.

[SKILLS]

  3. Instant Print
  4. Fusion Artistry
  5. Paint

  7. Guardian Golems

"Guardian Golems it is," I said, closing the skill menu. "Now, let's move on to the Material points." I wasn't really sure where they were used, but when I opened the System Menu There were a few interesting options, to say the least.

[SYSTEM MENU]

  1. Character
  2. Printer
  3. Materials
  4. Inventory
  5. Material Lottery
  6. Settings

What in the hell was this? Character? Setting?! I mean, Material Lottery was what I probably wanted, but could I just blindly ignore those two options and go for the gacha?!
