Chapter 23: 22-The beast and the fox
As Maple and Gaster were busy with things Ron continued to sleep and that annoyed the not-so-feral Adrian who was now walking on all four.
Adrian his cat ears stood tall and his tail fluffed up like a puff of fur. His nose twitched as he honed in on Ron's tail, which lazily dangled from the ceiling where Ron slept.
With a sudden pounce, Adrian leaped at the tail, teeth bared, intent on catching his "prey." But just as his teeth made contact, Ron's tail unexpectedly detached from his body, twisting in midair. Before Adrian could react, the tail sprouted a mouth of its own and, in one swift motion, bit Adrian back.
Adrian yelped, now looking shocked and slightly offended as he wrestled with the animated tail.
The tail growled as it chomped down on Adrian, its sharp teeth sinking into his arm, much to his surprise, Ron, still blissfully asleep, muttered in his sleep, unaware of the chaos unfolding below him.
[Ron]: Five more minutes... the ramen isn't ready yet...
As Adrian and the tail continued their bizarre battle, the tail began to morph, its fur shedding and revealing a dark, sinister form. It transformed into a black fox-like creature with blood-red eyes that glowed ominously and a wicked, vicious grin. The tail's once innocuous appearance had now become a horrifying entity.
Adrian's transformation was equally dramatic. His body grew more fur, his features elongating and shifting into a more wolfish form. His once sleek and slender cat-like features were now those of a hulking werewolf. The transformation was rough and painful, his limbs growing and shifting uncontrollably. Adrian clutched at his neck, which was furless and raw, his face contorted in pain and confusion.
As the transformation progressed, Adrian's intelligence and self-awareness faded. His eyes, once sharp and calculating, now glowed with a primal, wild intensity. His growls and snarls were more beast than man.
As the chaotic scene unfolded, Gaster casually sipped his coffee, seemingly unbothered by the madness. Blood splattered across the room as the black fox deftly dodged Adrian's wolf-like form, tearing a chunk from his neck. Adrian, now fully consumed by his beastly instincts, howled in pain and fury, but the fight continued to rage.
Team RWBY, standing beside Gaster, stared in disbelief.
[Weiss]: What are we even watching right now?
[Yang]: Is this some kind of... animal brawl?
[Blake]: This is not normal. I don't even know what to say...
[Ruby]: Shouldn't we—um, help?
Gaster, still unfazed by the violence, took another long sip of his coffee before answering.
[Gaster]: Interesting indeed. And Weiss, are you sure this isn't some experimental brew? It's giving me quite the show.
Weiss shot Gaster a bewildered look.
[Weiss]: What?! This has nothing to do with the coffee can't you see how... Now that I look at this I don't know what to say.
Weiss had her hand on her head and sat down Gaster handed her a cup of coffee and she started to drink, when she finished the cup she slumped to the ground, foam bubbling at the corners of her mouth, Gaster barely managed a satisfied smile before his own head thudded against the floor. Both of them had clearly overdosed on whatever potent brew was in their cups.
The rest of Team RWBY stared at the unconscious pair in a mix of confusion and exasperation.
Ruby kneeled, poking Weiss and Gaster with a mix of concern and disbelief.
[Ruby]: Uh, guys? Hello? Are you okay?
Blake sighed, running a hand through her hair as she glanced at the two unconscious figures.
[Blake]: This is ridiculous. We came here for a completely different reason, and now they've knocked each other out.
Yang, trying to hold back a laugh, shook her head.
[Yang]: Well, at least we know what not to drink around here. Seriously, what were they thinking?
Maple who came running stood frozen for a moment, eyes wide with disbelief as she took in the chaotic scene: Gaster and Weiss unconscious on the floor, foam coming out of their mouths, and Adrian locked in a vicious battle with Ron's strange, black, fox-like tail. Steam practically billowed from her ears as her mind struggled to process it all.
[Maple]: (sputtering) Wh-what in the world happened here!?
Her hands gripped her shield tightly, and she turned to the rest of Team RWBY, who were also watching the madness unfold.
[Yang]: Yeah, and we're not even sure how it happened! One minute, they were normal, and now Adrian's some sort of werewolf and Ron's tail is a crazy black fox.
[Blake]: It doesn't make sense... but it never does.
Maple, still processing the absurdity, planted her shield firmly on the ground and exhaled, looking ready to explode. She took a deep breath, then shouted.
[Maple]: Enough! I can't deal with this!
She slammed her shield down with a loud clang, creating a shockwave that shook the room, and the wolf-Adrian and fox-tail froze in mid-action. The sheer force of her frustration seemed to break through the tension, and everyone stopped, looking at her in silence.
[Maple]: Gaster, Weiss, Adrian, Ron's tail—everyone! Calm down!
Ron who was sleeping on the ceiling fell to the ground with a thud that attracted everyone's attention, all eyes turned to him. Ruby, ever curious, knelt beside him and poked his cheek a few times.
[Yang]: Ruby, is Ron okay?
[Ruby]: Ah, sorry! It's just... this is kind of addictive.
Yang and Maple, equally curious, joined Ruby, poking Ron's cheeks for a bit.
[Blake]: You know, now that I really look at him, Ron does look pretty young... Should we try taking off his face mask?
[Maple]: I don't think that's a good idea. I mean, I've always wanted to see his face too, but he's really protective of it. Even in his sleep... Wait—what are you doing!?
[Gaster]: That is why kids shouldn't be curious about everything.
The group turned to see Gaster standing nearby, holding a cup of coffee in one hand and a cup of instant noodles in the other. Adrian lay asleep next to him, and one of Gaster's flying hands was gently patting the black fox, who now seemed docile.
[Gaster]: Now, let's head to the next class. We've already missed one.
The girls exchanged glances, still processing the shocking revelation about Ron's face, but Gaster's matter-of-fact tone somehow eased the tension.
[Yang]: Yeah... let's get going.
[Blake]: We've seen enough surprises for today.
