Chapter 4: 4- How to blackmail someone
Ron moved with agility and precision, targeting any henchmen who managed to evade Gaster's spectral assaults. One of the henchmen grabbed a rifle and started shooting, forcing Ron to dodge the bullets. The girl quickly intervened, knocking the man out in seconds. With their efforts, all of the henchmen were swiftly defeated.
The Henchmen's Boss looked at them, a mix of frustration and grudging admiration on his face.
[Henchmen Boss]: You were worth every cent. Truly, you were.
He took the cigar from his mouth and continued.
[Henchmen Boss]: Well, Reds and Edge Lord, I think we can all say it's been an eventful evening and as much as I'd love to stick around...
The Henchmen Boss smirked as he threw his cigar to the ground, grinding it out with his cane. In one swift motion, he aimed the cane, revealing it to be a concealed gun, directly at Ron, and Gaster.
[Henchmen Boss]: I'm afraid this is where we part ways.
He shot a fire Dust-infused bullet that the three dodged, but when they looked up, the Henchmen Boss had already made his escape.
[Ron]: There, on the ladder!
Ron pointed to a building with an emergency ladder that the Henchmen Boss was climbing.
[Gaster]:I will make him pay for calling me an Edge Lord, whatever that means.
Ron and Gaster immediately gave chase, sprinting towards the ladder. The girl, noticing their pursuit, turned to the store owner.
[Girl]: You okay if I go after him.
[Store owner]: Uh Huh.
With the store owner's approval, she quickly followed Ron and Gaster.
The Henchmen Boss climbed the emergency ladder with surprising speed, reaching the rooftop first. Gaster, using his spectral abilities to float, arrived next, followed closely by the girl and Ron.
[Ron]: Hey.
[Henchmen Boss]: You're persistent, I'll give you that.
[Ron]: Give up, Ramen Tomahawk, you can't run forever.
The entire place fell silent, everyone processing what Ron just said.
[Roman Torchwick]: The name is Roman Torchwick, not Ramen Tomahawk!
Suddenly, a plane flew in front of Roman, and he jumped into it. As the plane ascended, Roman turned to face them.
[Roman]: End of the line Reds and Edgey.
He threw a fire Dust crystal down towards them. Gaster, with quick reflexes, shot it in mid-air, causing it to explode and cover the surrounding area in a thick cloud of Dust.
[Roman]: whoa-ho-ho.., Huh.
As Roman looked again, his smug grin faded when he noticed the middle-aged woman who had appeared on the scene. She was a Huntress.
[Huntress]: Hm
The Huntress adjusted her glasses with a calm, deliberate motion before she and Gaster began firing at the plane. The combined assault shook the aircraft, causing Roman to lose his balance momentarily. Panic flashed across his face as the situation rapidly spiraled out of control.
Suddenly, a new threat emerged. She wore an elegant, yet dangerously revealing dark red dress with intricate yellow designs. Her aura radiated power, and with a graceful flick of her wrist, she summoned flames that shot toward the Huntress and Gaster.
As the mysterious woman unleashed her flames, both the Huntress and Gaster were forced to switch from offense to defense. The ground beneath them erupted with fiery tendrils, threatening to engulf them. The Huntress quickly gathered nearby debris, forming a protective barrier, while Gaster summoned four of his signature blasters to intercept the flames.
The intense flames clashed with their defenses, the air crackling with heat and energy. The Huntress maintained her composure, using her powers to keep the flames at bay, while Gaster's blasters fired relentlessly, trying to push back the fiery assault. Despite their efforts, the mystery woman's power was overwhelming, and just as they were beginning to gain the upper hand, she unleashed a devastating move.
With a single, fluid motion, she conjured a massive wave of energy that shattered the debris barrier and obliterated Gaster's blasters. The sheer force of the attack created a shockwave that shook the rooftop. The plane, which had been teetering on the edge of destruction, stabilized and began to ascend.
[Ron]: She's not getting away that easily!
Ron and the girl quickly opened fire on the retreating plane, their bullets infused with Dust for extra power. But the mystery woman, now fully focused on defense, effortlessly blocked every shot with fiery shields, then she summons a giant fire circle, forcing Ron to grab the girl and Gaster to swiftly pull the Huntress down the building. They leaped just in time, avoiding the blaze as it engulfed the rooftop.
[Gaster]: Damn it, they escaped.
[Ron]: Don't worry. We'll get them next time.
As they landed safely on the ground, the girl, still catching her breath from the intense battle, turned to the Huntress, her eyes wide with admiration.
[Girl]: You're a Huntress! Can I have your autograph?
[Five minutes later]
The three of them were seated in an interrogation room with the Huntress. The atmosphere was tense, and the Huntress, clearly unimpressed, addressed the group with a stern expression.
[Huntress]: I hope you realize that your actions tonight will not be taken lightly. You put yourselves and others in great danger.
While the Huntress spoke, Ron seemed distracted, his attention elsewhere, and Gaster was asleep, his head resting on the table. The girl, still shaken, replied defensively.
[Girl]: They started it.
[Huntress]: If it were up to me, you'd be sent home with a pat on the back and a slap on the wrist.
The Huntress waved her whip dramatically, startling Gaster awake and causing the girl to flinch. Ron glared at the Huntress, clearly displeased.
[Huntress]: But there is someone here who would like to meet you.
The door opened, and a man in a sharp suit entered the room. Gaster's tired eyes widened, and he quickly pulled out a new notebook, scribbling furiously.
[Man]: Ruby Rose and... who might the two gentlemen be?
Gaster continued to jot down notes without looking up, so Ron spoke up.
[Ron]: Name's Ron Zero, and this is my friend WingDings Gaster.
[Man]: Thanks. Miss Rose and Mr. WingDings.
The man leaned closer to Ruby and then to Gaster.
[Man]: You have silver eyes.
[Ruby]: Um...
[Man]: So where did you learn to do this?
The man displayed a video showing their fight against Roman Torchwick. Ruby, taken aback by the footage, struggled to respond, while Gaster remained absorbed in his notes, occasionally glancing up at the video.
[Ruby]: Signal Academy.
[Man]: They taught you how to use one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed?
[Ruby]: Will, one tether in particular.
[Man]: I see...
The man took a moment to process this before placing a plate of cookies in front of Ruby. She devoured them in seconds, much to the amazement of Ron and Gaster. Gaster, still engrossed in his notes, summoned ethereal hands to assist him in writing down Ruby's response.
[Man]: It's just that I've only seen one other scythe-wielder with that level of skill before—a dusty old crow.
[Ruby]: uh thash muh unkul.
Ron, holding a glass of milk that had seemingly appeared from nowhere, offered it to Ruby to help her wash down the cookies. Gaster continued taking notes, his ethereal hands scribbling furiously to capture every detail of the conversation.
[Ruby]: Sorry That's my uncle Qrow, He's a teacher at Signal I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing and now I am all----Hooowaaah--witchaaaa.
The man watched with a mix of amusement and intrigue, sipping his coffee as he observed Ruby's display.
[Man]: So I've noticed. And what is an adorable girl such as yourself doing at a school designed to train warriors?
[Ruby]: Well, I want to be a Huntress.
[Man]: You want to slay monsters?
This caught Gaster's attention, and he paused his note-taking to listen more intently.
[Ruby]: Yeah! I only have two more years of training left at Signal, and then I'm going to apply to Beacon. You see...
At this point, Ron had fallen asleep, and Gaster, despite being asleep, continued to write in his notebook with his ethereal hands.
[Ruby]: My sister started there this year, and she's trying to become a Huntress too. I want to become one because I want to help people. My parents always taught us to help others, so I thought, why not make a career out of it? I mean, the police are alright, but Huntsmen and Huntresses are just so much more romantic and exciting, and really... gosh, you know?
The room fell into silence. The man and the Huntress exchanged glances, observing Ruby's earnestness and enthusiasm. They then turned their attention back to the sleeping Ron and the tirelessly writing Gaster.
[Man]: ...Do you know who I am? Glynda, please wake the sleeping boys.
[Ruby]: You're Professor Ozpin.
As Ruby said that, Glynda used her semblance to levitate Ron and Gaster before letting them fall to the ground with a thud.
[Ron]: Ouch, my back... I think I broke a mug.
[Gaster]: My wings feel like spears in my back.
Ruby paused for a moment, then continued.
[Ruby]: You're the headmaster of Beacon.
Ozpin took a moment to acknowledge this.
[Ozpin]: Hello.
[Ruby]: Nice to meet you?
[Ozpin]: you want to come to my school?
Ron and Gaster were slowly getting to their feet, rubbing their sore spots.
[Ruby]: more then anything!
[Ozpin]: Well okay.
Ruby's face lit up with a big smile.
[Ozpin]: Now, Miss Rose, can you wait outside?
[Ruby]: Yes, sir!
As Ruby exited the room, both Ron and Gaster made a move to leave as well.
[Ozpin]: I will extend my offer to the two of you as well.
[Ron]: No need, thanks.
[Ozpin]: Glynda, the files.
Two black files were placed in front of Ron and Gaster. When they opened them, their eyes widened in shock.
[Ron]: Twenty years in prison for public damage alone?
[Ozpin]: Will you consider my offer now?
[Ron]: Give us a second, please.
Ozpin nodded. Ron took Gaster to a corner and whispered.
[Ron]:(whispering) Got any way out?
[Gaster]:(whispering) No, this body is almost out of stamina, and I need stamina to summon the hands and blasters. What about your Hydra song?
[Ron]:(whispering) I can't use it with Ozpin around; he'll know.
[Ozpin]: If you two join and offer your skills as students, I will unlock your Auras.
Ron and Gaster exchanged a glance, their faces showing resignation.
[Ron/Gaster]:(´._.`)༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
[Ron]: Okay, where do we sign?
Ozpin took out a stack of a hundred papers
[Ozpin]: I expect you to finish before tomorrow
