RWBY: Oscar the gamer

Chapter 6: I made a mistake

Oscar then ducked out of the way, as the Wendigo tryed to hit Oscar, and once again he blocked wish his sword as he was sent back by a bit, as then he kicked the wendigo as it went to a tree, as then Oscar activated his [ Agility Skill ].

The Wendigo Grimm got back up, as it went for an attack Oscar jumped out the way and strikes in the back, it was clear this thing was hungry be had no fear to show or maybe he was leaking it, he was in the middle of the night in a forest with a Grimm alone he is just supirse he didn't attract more, the Oscar moved out of way as he cut the Grimm arm as it screamed in anger

[ Hp has fallen down to 50% host ]

Oscar then had an idea, as he didn't know if this was stupid or smart but it could work right, as the grimm charges as Oscar blocked as then he lit a fire ball in his hand

[ Host this is not the best idea ]

Oscar then hit the Grimm in the mouth with the fire ball, as then explode as he was sent back, it was a direct hit and a critical hit sense if was in the mouth, but it did more Oscar saw some of the trees was on fire.

The explosion sent Oscar tumbling backward, his back hitting the dirt with a grunt. He quickly scrambled to his feet, coughing from the smoke as flames licked the surrounding trees.

"Great, now I've got a Grimm and a forest fire to deal with," Oscar muttered, glaring at the Wendigo.

The Grimm staggered, its charred form more grotesque than before. Its once-massive jaw hung loosely, the fireball having burned away part of its face. Yet, it snarled and began to lurch forward, its glowing eyes filled with unrelenting rage.

[ Critical hit inflicted. Wendigo Grimm's HP has dropped to 20%. However, Host, caution is advised. The fire may attract additional Grimm to the area. ]

Oscar cursed under his breath. "You couldn't have told me that before I set the woods on fire?"

[ I did, Host. ]

Ignoring the system's sass, Oscar gripped his sword tightly and charged toward the Grimm before it could recover. With his [Agility Skill] still active, he moved swiftly, dodging the creature's desperate swipes.

He lunged, slashing at the Wendigo's legs, causing it to fall to its knees. The Grimm let out a haunting wail, its movements slowing but still filled with murderous intent.

Oscar jumped back, observing the flames around them growing stronger. His mind raced for a plan to finish the Grimm off quickly.

"Alright, one last gamble," he muttered, raising his sword high. Channeling all his strength, he activated his [Power Strike] skill and charged forward.

With a yell, he brought the blade down in a decisive arc, cleaving the Wendigo's head clean off. The Grimm disintegrated into black smoke, its body fading into nothingness.

[ Victory! Wendigo Grimm defeated. Bonus XP awarded for defeating an enemy 10 levels higher. ]

[ +500 XP. Level up! Current level: 16. ]

[ +1 Strength, +1 Agility, +1 Intelligence. ]

Oscar collapsed to one knee, panting heavily as the adrenaline left his body. "That...was way too close," he said, looking around at the smoldering forest.

[ Host, you must extinguish the fire immediately. The risk of attracting more Grimm is high. ]

Oscar groaned, forcing himself to his feet. "Yeah, yeah, I'm on it," he muttered. He raised his hand, summoning a small burst of water magic from his limited repertoire to douse the flames.

As the fire began to die down, Oscar took a deep breath, his body aching from the battle.

"Next time," he said, glancing at the system, "remind me to stick to plans that don't involve setting everything on fire."

[ Acknowledged, Host. However, credit where it's due: that was a bold and effective strategy. ]

Oscar smirked faintly, sheathing his sword. "Thanks, I guess. Now, let's get out of here before something worse shows up."

Oscar then made his way back to his farm house, he sneaked into his room by his window, as he went to sleep, as he knew sense he will sleep on his bed he will fully recover one of the many perks of his Gamer system

He slept like a baby, but there was a small ember and that started another fire which let to the local authority and fire depart to get involved and even local hunter to get involved. As the next morning arrived as Oscar woke up.

Oscar looked around, as he yawed as he went down to get some breakfast, as he then saw his aunt Emimel, watching the new what caught his eyes was forest fire right in his area, Oscar mentally courses him self.

Emimel heard Oscar foot steps as she looked at her nephew. "You look like on a good mood today Oscar, had a good night sleep".

Oscar just looked at her as he said, what was not on his mind. "Yes".

Emimel smiled, sipping her coffee as she kept her eyes glued to the television. "Well, that's good to hear. But can you believe this? A forest fire broke out last night near our area. The authorities are saying it might've been caused by some reckless hunters or... something else entirely."

Oscar froze, his mind racing. He kept his expression as neutral as possible, though internally, he was cursing himself. Great. I save my farm, kill a Grimm, and now I've got the entire local authorities breathing down my neck.

"Yeah, uh... crazy stuff," Oscar replied, rubbing the back of his neck. "Did they... uh, figure out what caused it yet?"

Emimel glanced at him briefly, narrowing her eyes just a bit. "No, but the Hunters are saying it might be Grimm-related. You know how they get. Always blaming something spooky." She set her coffee down and turned fully to face Oscar. "You didn't happen to hear or see anything strange last night, did you? You're usually up late."

Oscar swallowed hard, keeping his cool. "Me? Nah, I was in bed early last night. You know, busy day and all. Farm work, chores... nothing exciting here."

His aunt raised an eyebrow but didn't press further. "Well, if you hear anything, let me know. The Hunters are checking every corner of the area, so if you've got any weird scorch marks on the farm, you better tell them. Wouldn't want them thinking we're harboring anything dangerous."

Oscar laughed nervously. "Yeah, no worries. I'll keep an eye out."

As Emimel turned back to the news, Oscar let out a silent sigh of relief and made his way to the kitchen. He grabbed a plate and loaded it with some toast and eggs, trying to act casual.

[ Host, you appear tense. Perhaps you should— ]

"Shut it," Oscar muttered under his breath, glaring at nothing in particular. "This is your fault too, you know. You didn't warn me about the whole forest fire thing."

[ Correction, Host: I explicitly warned you that using fire magic in a forest was not the best idea. You ignored my advice. ]

Oscar sighed, stuffing a piece of toast in his mouth. "Yeah, yeah, don't rub it in."

As he ate, he overheard more details from the news. The fire had been extinguished by the local fire department, but it had caused quite a stir. No one had been hurt, thankfully, but the local Hunters had found traces of Grimm activity near the site.

Oscar frowned. If they investigated too closely, they might find evidence of his fight. That would lead to questions he couldn't answer.

"Looks like I'll have to lay low for a while," Oscar muttered to himself. "No more midnight adventures for now."

[ A wise decision, Host. However, it may be prudent to prepare for questions should the Hunters visit your farm. ]

Oscar nodded, finishing his breakfast. "Good point. I'll check the perimeter and make sure there's no leftover evidence from last night."

As he stood up, Emimel called out, "Oscar, can you check the fences later? Some of the cattle were acting spooked this morning. Might've been the fire."

"Sure thing," Oscar replied, grabbing his jacket. He had a feeling today was going to be anything but peaceful.

Meanwhile in the forest, it was like a crime seen as the forest was being investigated as then someone walked in

One of the officer spoke. "Um sit you can't just". As then the man showed his card, as they shut up. "Go in Mr Hunter".

The man has graying black, spiky hair, faded red eyes, and slight stubble along his jawline. Along with a red, tattered cloak, he wears a gray dress shirt with a long tail, black dress pants and black dress shoes. In an old picture of him with his former team, Qrow looked exactly the same but lacked stubble.

He also wears a ring on his right index finger, two other rings on his right ring finger and a necklace with a crooked cross-shaped pendant. He seems to have a 5 o'clock shadow and a bottle for whisky as he drinked from it

[ Insert image of Qrow ]

Qrow looked around the forest, normally he doesn't get involved in these, but Ozpin has been breathing down his neck sense the new year's od Beacon academy started.

Qrow saw some for the marks on the tree. "This looks like a sword, old fashioned one that is". He then looked at the other marks. "Wendigo Grimm I see".

The officers stood in silence, watching Qrow as he surveyed the area with the expertise of someone who had seen it all. His eyes narrowed as he moved from tree to tree, examining the deep, jagged claw marks and scorch marks left by the Grimm.

Qrow took another swig of his whiskey, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. "Not your average Grimm," he muttered to himself, leaning down to inspect the ground. He noted the trail of disturbed dirt, scattered remnants of the Grimm's path, and what seemed like burnt foliage. "Someone's been having fun out here," he added dryly.

One of the officers nervously stepped forward. "Mr. Hunter, are you saying this was... caused by a Wendigo Grimm? That's not something we've dealt with before, at least not around here."

Qrow straightened, giving the officer a sharp look. "You might want to start looking at things a little differently. If that fire wasn't caused by a random accident, then it's no coincidence. A Wendigo Grimm isn't exactly subtle, and it leaves a mess."

He pointed toward a nearby scorch mark on a tree. "That's a burn, not a normal forest fire." His gaze shifted to the distant trees where the fire had been contained. "That means the fire wasn't just a random spark. Something—or someone—was trying to cover their tracks, or maybe they just didn't care."

The officer gulped, clearly out of his depth. "You think... someone was targeting the area?"

Qrow took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, his eyes scanning the horizon. "Could be. Or maybe it's just a Grimm hunting ground. But either way, someone triggered that fire. And with the level of destruction here, I'm willing to bet it wasn't just a freak occurrence. Whoever—or whatever—is responsible might still be in the area."

The officer glanced around nervously, the silence heavy with unspoken tension. Qrow didn't wait for them to ask any more questions. He had already seen enough.

"Keep your distance from the area. If you find anything that looks like it was set intentionally, call me," Qrow ordered. "This isn't over."

Without another word, he turned and walked deeper into the forest, his hand instinctively resting on the hilt of his weapon, always alert. Something was off, and Qrow had learned long ago to trust his gut. The fire, the Grimm, and the strange sword-like marks... none of it seemed like a coincidence.

As he walked, Qrow glanced up at the trees above him, feeling a twinge of unease. Whoever had caused this mess wasn't just some random hunter. And if they were connected to the Grimm... it would make for one hell of a problem.

Back at the farm, Oscar was unaware of the investigation that had begun. He was more focused on checking the perimeter and ensuring his own safety, mentally preparing for the inevitable visit from the local authorities. But even with the sun rising, he couldn't shake the feeling that things were about to get a lot more complicated.

Qrow then pulled out his scroll, as he got a call from Ozpin, it was no Video called just a voice one. "Hey Oz what's up".

Qrow heard from his side of the phone. "Oh you found Ruby Rose, yeah I trained my Niece, what about her".

Qrow just stopped as then spoke back. "Oh hell no, your not having join Beacon this year, what do you mean you see potential in her".

Qrow stopper he was ready turn into a bird and go to Ozpin office. "I what, you know what Ozpin, I don't allow this but there is something that you can do for me so you can take her to Beacon".

Qrow heard Ozpin voice agress as he spoke. "Oh simple, I will pick someone to go to Beacon and will he will keep an eye on her, don't worry I have chosen them".

Qrow cut the call as then sighed. "Will shit, now to find who ever made this mess and make them go to Ozpin school, if I can find them in 2 weeks".

Qrow leaned against a tree, staring at the small glowing screen of his scroll as the call with Ozpin ended. His expression shifted from frustration to contemplation. Ruby Rose. He didn't know how to feel about Ozpin's latest decision to bring her into the fold. She was just a kid, and frankly, Qrow didn't trust people who thought they could see potential in a kid that easily.

"Potential, huh?" he muttered to himself, running a hand through his graying hair. "Ozpin's got a knack for digging up these problems, doesn't he?"

He sighed, shaking his head. The prospect of dealing with another one of Ozpin's 'projects' didn't sit well with him. But it wasn't his place to refuse the old man.

With a deep breath, Qrow stood upright again, looking around the forest. "Two weeks, huh?" He was going to have to do some serious work to track down whoever was behind the mess that had started this whole ordeal. The Wendigo Grimm, the fire, and the marks on the trees – it wasn't just random chaos. Someone had been trying to cover their tracks.

He tightened his grip on his scythe, then turned back to the officers who were still watching him, confused by the abrupt end to his call.

"Alright, I'm going to be around here for a bit. Keep your distance, and stay out of my way," Qrow said, his tone firm. "I'll take care of the mess. But if anyone asks, this never happened. Got it?"

The officers nodded hesitantly, still unsure about everything, but not wanting to argue with the grizzled Huntsman.

Qrow's eyes narrowed as he turned his back on the scene. "I'll find whoever did this," he muttered under his breath. "And if they're stupid enough to be near Beacon in two weeks, they'll regret it."

As he walked away, his mind raced through possible leads. He didn't know who would be messing around with Grimm this way, but he was willing to bet it wasn't a simple hunter. This felt like something bigger, something that was about to come crashing into Beacon and shake things up. And if Ozpin thought he could just send someone to 'keep an eye' on Ruby, Qrow wasn't about to make it easy for anyone.

His hand instinctively rested on the hilt of his weapon. He didn't care who it was—he'd find the person behind this, and they would either give him answers or feel the consequences.

"Two weeks," he muttered. "Should be enough time."

And with that, he set off deeper into the woods, heading in the direction of the signs left by the Grimm, his eyes scanning the forest for any trace of whoever—or whatever—had started this mess.
