Chapter 11: A New Feature
Hei "Junior" Xiong was probably one of the biggest names in the underworld when it came to information and with connections from White Fang to Roman Torchwick but recently even he had to admit he was going through a slump. Both Yang and the Kid he tried to shake down wrecked his club and it put a hefty hole in his wallet but now he was able to celebrate with a big reopening of his bar since everything got fixed.
"BOSS! BOSS, WE GOT TROUBLE!" A member of his security detail followed by others who were sprinting in to barricade the doors with furniture and passing out heavy duty weapons. "BIG TROUBLE!"
"Junior, it's the blonde girl! She came back!" The lackey explained as he cocked a rifle and then passed it to a friend.
"AND SHE BROUGHT THE KID TOO! THE ONE WITH THE WATCH!"
The Xiong man was at a loss for words except for two: "Oh….Shit…MAN THE DOORS AND GRAB EVERY PIECE OF WEAPONRY THAT YOU CAN FI-"
KABABABLOOEY!
The door blasted apart with the force of a bomb as it cleared out the barricade and the armed guards while Yang ceremoniously walked in. "Hey Guys! Guess who's back~?" She whooped before getting a bunch of guns pointed at her. "I'm gonna take that as you not being super excited."
"You're gods damned right we're not! You put half of us in the ICU and trashed the place!" One particularly squeaky voiced goon complained as he held up his gun.
"That's a real shame…But you might wanna put the guns away because I brought the party to you guys." Yang remarked with a coy smirk and then looked to each of them before placing her finger and thumb into her mouth to whistle loudly for the signal; "Hey JUNIOR! CHECK THIS OUT!"
Rushing out into the flashing lights of the club came a figure that looked like the size of a child; He had dark green skin with black lines that resembled overalls, though his face was black on the top half that changed to white when it got to his orange coloured eyes, a pair of thin catfish like whiskers on his cheeks and thin fin like growths around the crown of his head that slowly curved upwards with the Watch mark taking it's centre spot on his forehead. "One Doppler!" He called out as more identical versions of him popped up on either side of him out of thin air.
"Two Doppler!" A second one appeared.
"Three Doppler!" The Third one grinned.
"MORE!" The others then rapidly showed up until there was Yang and 24 other "Dopplers"
"Hope you got a big enough table for these lil goobers." Yang warned with a smirk as she fist bumped "Doppler Prime" and cocked her shotgun gauntlets; "You ready for a club fight?"
"YOU!" Junior snarled when he recognised the emblem on Doppler's head; "You know that kid from a few weeks ago right? Well I've got some business to settle with him!" He growled as he hoisted up his giant club.
"I seem to remember things differently…You got what you deserved for that poor excuse for a shakedown." Doppler taunted him as Yang looked confused.
"Wait…He knows you?" Yang asked him but then found herself getting caught between Melanie and Militia Malachite in their want for a rematch.
"If Blondie knows you then this just got better…his time I'll beat you bloody and steal that watch from the kid." Junior grinned as he put two and two together.
"Last time I recall, I dropped your ass." Doppler smirked as he summoned up an extra five "Dopplers" to join in; "But this time I'm not pleading self defense."
"Come on…Am I really supposed to be intimidated by you? You're the size of toddlers and I've seen angsty teenagers look more terrifying than you!" Junior laughed in his face but then saw Doppler reaching for the emblem on his forehead counter clockwise and in a flash of green light on each Doppler's hand including the ones already in a fight with the other goons; There appeared a small knife with a black handle and a transparent green blade.
"Ooooh….Interesting~ These might not kill but they'll hurt a lot more than your average police taser!" Doppler grinned once he realised that this new impulse move he made paid off.
"Bring it, you little shits…I've stomped out tab skippers with more sense than you!" Junior roared as he swung his club and ended up hitting three to make them dissipate.
Doppler however had the ability to infinitely create copies of himself and decided to spawn more to mob the oversized mobster in a flurry of tiny screams and zaps.
"Man, even when he's a little guy, he can still kick butt…" She smirked before swinging a high kick into Melanie's face; "Hey J! Go ahead and zap him one for me!"
"You heard the lady….Now we can end this easily or you can play this out." Doppler smirked as he positioned the knife between his legs with the intent of something similar to what Yang did to earn the name "Sir"
Junior hesitated within an instant once he realised that Doppler was not kidding and the phantom aching in his balls from Yang's steel grip kept him in the hospital for a while; "Fine…PACK IT UP! FIGHT'S OVER!" He yelled out to the crowd who stopped fighting and started to back down while grabbing kits for medical and gadgeteering. "To the bar. Now!" He snarled at Doppler as he crawled away and watched each clone of Doppler vanish until there was only one left and Yang.
"Man, you guys really know how to party." Yang smirked as she slapped his back and watched Jason suddenly turn back to his usual form after the timer ran out; "Huh…I thought you could control it now."
"Weird….I thought it did, maybe that knife I summoned up for them drained a time limit." Jason admitted with a theory from his head; flicking his hand outward to extend his staff. "Looks okay to me, let's go get a drink and find out what he knows."
A few minutes later; Junior roughly placed a drink towards the two teens as his men cleaned up, "So…Blondie, to what do I owe the pleasure of you both wrecking my club ONCE! AGAIN!" He snapped at her, despite the fact that many other people wilted under such anger; Yang and Jason were the two people who weren't phased at all.
"Torchwick hired your guys a while back…Maybe you can enlighten us on that little tidbit." Yang smirked as she twirled the umbrella in her Strawberry Sunrise.
"That's all? You couldn't have just asked me?!" Junior groaned in exasperation as he rubbed the back of his head before downing a liquor shot.
"You see, that's the thing with this club of your's, Junior." Jason snarked as he sipped his cola; "You make it a little difficult to approach when you've got 15 different guns pointed in your face…" He then put the glass down; "And on top of that, I'm still a little sore about your treatment last time."
"Speaking of; You tried to shake HIM down? Oh Junior…I knew you were hard up for money but I didn't think you'd try mugging kids with a watch that could level a building." Yang teased him as she snuck a sly wink at Jason; "But seriously, picking on a kid looking for help? That's a dick move, even for you."
"I already told you, He shouldn't have been there…Plus how the hell was I supposed to know that stupid piece of junk was gonna throw me across the room?!" Junior yelled but flinched when he saw a flash of green light followed by an angry looking wolf sitting where Jason used to be. It had bushy dark brown fur which culminated in a wild mane that rivalled Yang's own, a large bushy tail to balance him with three sharp claws on each hand and foot, and the inside of his mouth was orange when he snarled at Junior, he had spiked elbows and shoulders and wore a darker orange jumpsuit with a white inner band and a black edge on the outside of the suit with the Watch's symbol on his lower stomach like a belt.
"Call my watch junk one more time….I dare you." The Loboan creature that Jason later called Howler growled at Junior in a deep voice, talking bad about him was one thing but Jason absolutely refused to let anyone talk bad about the watch and the man who gave it to him.
Junior quickly flinched and ducked under the table as Howler's maw split into four to show off rows of sharp fangs though he was stopped by Yang as she placed her hand on his arm.
"Jason, take it easy…He's not worth the trouble anymore." Yang said to calm him down as he changed back; "Though that one's going to need some explaining."
"I become Howler…A Wolfman with a supersonic howl powers, what's to explain?" Jason smirked a little as he got his good mood back a tad. "Besides, at least I can talk loud enough for people to hear me in a club."
Yang nodded with a playful smile; "Of course now I have just one question….If I ask you this, would you get happy if I called you a good boy~?" She said with the widest grin around, having grown up with her other dog Zwei around; she had the slightest compulsion to do this with Feralhound and now Howler.
Jason blushed a little in embarrassment as he looked away; "I…uh….So you trashed this place too?" He asked and quickly changed the subject as Junior came back.
"Yeah, she did…And as for your question; I don't know what happened to them. Torchwick took some of my boys and clearly wasn't happy about them since they never came back." Junior explained with a surly expression; "Something that I SORELY relate to!"
"What about a place, did he say where they were going?" Yang asked with a tone that warned him to worry if she wasn't happy about the answer.
While the two argued/negotiate, Jason decided to wander; He ended up seeing Melanie and Militia struggling to get things moving as the mirror ball that hung from the ceiling was now broken to hell. "You two want some help?"
"You kidding me? You trashed the place twice with that blonde tramp and now you wanna help?!" Melanie growled at him and poked his chest; "Sometimes I don't get you…"
"Well, you didn't exactly give me much choice when you attacked me….So did you want help or not?" Jason pointed out as he crossed his arms and pointed to the barely dangling ball over them.
Militia was the more reasonable sibling and nodded; "If you can stop it from hitting someone on the way down then by all means." She gestured to the ceiling.
Jason thought on it and then snapped his fingers, "I'll do you one better than fixing it." He grinned as he flickered into a different form, though this time it was a lot less animalistic; What stood in front of them was a plant with legs and arms plus an eye in the middle of his face, five vine-like legs, four long fingers on his hands, flytrap-shaped flaps with teeth covering his head, and small black fruits on his back.
"A Houseplant? Seriously? First you smash up the place as that big red, four armed guy, then those little toddlers that you created and now you think a HOUSEPLANT can fix this up!" Melanie yelled at him as the creature moved past her and extended his arms upwards to stretch and grab the broken up mirror ball and pull it off of the ceiling.
"Take it easy, This is only step one of my plan….And it's not Houseplant…Call me Planterra." He grinned as he set the ball down before switching into Gemomancer's form; "THIS is step 2." Gemomancer then formed a small crystal ball in his hands and started making it bigger and bigger until it finally matched the one that broke. "Ta-freaking-Da."
"Wow…So you are good for a lot more than just smashing around…You think about joining here for security?" Militia asked with a coy smirk; "Junior's reasonable with his pay AND you have more of a reason to be around us."
"And I'm sure it doesn't need to be said that you'll enjoy being around us more of-HEY!" Melanie joined in but Yang quickly shut them down as she got to Jason.
"So this is where you run off to, wanted to show off?" Yang asked teasingly with a smirk as she had noticed him lifting the Crystal ball up to where it's predecessor was as Doppler since he could partially multiply into himself and pass the ball up.
"Well, I didn't want to sit around so I figured I'd offer a hand…Figured that I at least do this much while you were talking." Doppler admitted before he reformed again.
"Well, I've gotten as much as I could…So let's get back to the other's, they might have turned up something." Yang suggested as she picked up her riding glasses and walked out of the club with Jason.
Though Jason got a rather surprising goodbye with Melanie and Militia mouthing a "^" to him while Yang's back was turned.
"So, now that we've gotten what we can…Who do we go find?" Jason asked Yang as she geared her bike to make it ready to go.
"EVERYONE! IF YOU CAN HEAR THIS THEN WE NEED BACKU-"
"HEEEEEEEELP! HUUUUURRY!" Sun's voice broke through Blake's urgent message as the two were making a mad dash away from an Atlesian Paladin.
"Well, that answers that….Yang, you try chasing them by road, I'll follow by sky!" Jason suggested as he shifted forms into Sludgewasp.
"That's gonna be too much to navigate with it's weapons, why not follow me with Speedfreak or someone equally fast?" Yang asked as she pulled her helmet on.
"Dang it…Alright, but just be careful…The guy I'm pulling out's a little clumsy." Jason warned as he shifted out of Sludgewasp and into something drastically different.
——On the Vale Overpass——
Yang was dashing through the traffic and trying to get closer to the giant rampaging robot while warning the cars nearby to clear the way; "YOU GUYS BETTER MOVE! THIS DUDE WON'T STOP FOR ANYTHING!" She warned them as each car on either side of the road pushed as far to the edges as they could without scratching up their paint or falling off the sides.
What came rolling down the middle of the road at a high speed was a white and orange armoured ball that zipped past the speeding cars and catching up with Yang on her bike. With the Hard Light Dust walls to stop people from falling over the edge of the road; Jason had an idea, he sped himself up and started to use the curved sides of the Dust walls like a half pipe to pick up momentum along with his speed until he was moving in a corkscrew like motion ever closer to Torchwick's robot.
Weiss took the signal and laid down ice to trip up the robot; Watching as the giant armoured ball smashed into Torchwick mid-slip and sent them both careening over the side of the freeway.
With the four girls all at the bottom and Jason landing and unfurling himself, they got a good look at him; It was a hulking, broad-shouldered creature covered in natural looking, orange armor plating on his back, shoulders, and the backs of his arms. He was covered in mostly short white fur with black on his upper half and has four claws on both of his hands, having a color scheme and claws similar to that of a panda, something that gave both Weiss and Ruby an indescribable urge to squeeze him. "Alright Ruby, How'd you wanna handle this? It's your mission." "Jason" detailed as he tried keeping steady since his body's weight was all in the top half.
"Jason…Or whatever this form's name is….You keep moving, see if you can give Torchwick an extra target and hit him if it's safe to do it." Ruby planned as she cocked the rifle section of her scythe.
"Okie doke! I'll go with….Brawling Ball!" He grinned as he rolled up and started to pick up speed as he moved around while getting shot at by Torchwick.
Meanwhile Ruby was planning team attacks from Freezerburn to Ladybug before noticing Yang going headfirst into it. "BB! GO HELP!" She yelled out as Brawling-Ball dashed forward to knock the legs out from under Torchwick, though he wasn't quick enough to stop him from knocking Yang through a stone pillar.
BB changed back as he opted for a new strategy; Especially after seeing Yang getting pounded like that. He changed himself into the Galvanic Mechamorph known as Patch and looked to Ruby; "Get Yang to her feet, I'll hold him still!"
Torchwick grumbled as he got the robot back up; "Seriously, these kids can't just give me a…Oh…YOU!" Torchwick snarled as he turned on the speakers; "I hope you made peace brat! Because I'm gonna squish that gooey body into pa-huh?" Torchwick yelled at him but after trying to step on him but all that resulted in was Patch latching on to him and coating the entire Robot.
Ruby was in awe as this adult sized blob quickly grew to the size of a giant robot and gave it a black and orange paintjob before starting to turn at it's waist.
"I'm holding it…So SMASH!" Patch yelled as a Semblance Enhanced Yang leapt into the air and delivered the mother of all punches into it's head, sending Patch off of the robot before it connected and Torchwick crashing to the ground.
"Crap…I just got this cleaned too…" Torchwick grumbled as he saw the five of them gang up on him, though luck was on his side as The Ice Cream Menace Neo Politan jumped in to stop Yang's shot with her parasol. "Ladies, Ice Queen ("HEY!") and to you as well, Weirdo….Always a pleasure." Torchwick tipped his hat before the two vanished after Yang took a swing at them.
"Figures…Of course he got new help…" Yang growled as she holstered the gun parts of her gauntlets.
Jason had changed back into normal as he looked to the others; "Well, it wasn't a total bust…At least we managed to stop him from smashing up traffic and kept him away from the city."
"Though her showing up really made our plans….Fall apart~" Weiss finished with a devious little grin at the fact that she made a pun in Yang's presence before she did.
"Weiss…" Ruby and Jason groaned while Yang didn't look amused.
"There's a time and a place…Though it also counts that it wasn't that funny…" Yang reprimanded her on the laws of bad comedy. "In fact…here's a good one, what's white, green and orange but travels all the way back to school~" Yang asked Weiss and Jason, though the former looked confused the latter took the hint with a gigantic grin.
"I don't get it…"
——Later——
"Okay! Okay! I get it! No more bad puns during missions!" Weiss yelled to the giant bug that carried her through the sky towards the school while she held her nose shut to block out the smell.
"It's not that, you just need to plan it a little better, Ice Queen." Sludgewasp grinned as he carried her in his multiple arms; "Plus I've always been a sucker for jokes that suck."
"Okay from now on…Only you get to call me that…In return that you don't mention this flight to anyone else." She pouted; "A-And if that was the case then why didn't you laugh?"
"Well, I was nursing a sore body from Yang's punch so I didn't catch it." Sludgewasp pointed out as he got closer to the landing pad at Beacon. "Plus I promise to laugh at your jokes more."
"Ugh, please don't pity my humour…I've already had a rough enough night as it is." Weiss grumbled as she got to her feet. "Besides it's not like I heard any of your jokes before, Moss." She pointed out as the now human Jason walked with her.
"Well, considering the flight…."
"Oh no…"
"And the joke you made to get into flying with me."
"Jason, I swear by all the Gods that exist, if this is your way of flirting with me than I'm freezing you in the middle of the courtyard right now!"
"…Eh, your joke was a lot like Sludgewasp." Jason shrugged as the shorter girl stepped towards the school dorms. "Because they both really stink~" He laughed with the biggest grin around before Weiss turned him into an ice Sculpture.
Though this lasted for a few seconds when there was a brief green light followed by an orange one as Sunspot melted him out of the ice. "You know, I really wasn't sure what you were hoping to accomplish with that."
"I thought it was smart, okay…" Weiss grumbled and lightly punched his shoulder, despite the obnoxious joke and his poke in her logic; She had to admit that he was surprisingly good company…For someone outside of her team at least.
