Starry Sky Professional

Chapter 52: The Prevention Bureau

Young Eagle Star.

In the Happiness Homeland Housing Complex, a flash of silver light marked the sudden appearance of Fang Xing. He carried a longsword on his back, and a package dangled from the tip of the sword's sheath.

After finalizing his plan, Fang Xing made his final purchases without looking back and left Qinglin Market to return to his temporary camp before making his way back to this place.

Only now did he let out a long breath and felt the urge to tally his spoils of war.

"Spirit stones and miscellaneous items aside... one storage bag, one blood-refined artifact, a lower-tier flying knife, and an upper-tier robe..."

"That cursed Chen Yi! Even his loot was hard to gather!"

"At least you're dead, but even in death, I won't spare you... If Hua Feiyue and her group don't perform well, I'll send drones to plaster the news everywhere until it becomes common knowledge—let chaos reign!"

Fang Xing sighed deeply, picking up the upper-tier robe. The robe was entirely dark green, woven from spirit silk with intricately dense stitching that concealed a glint of spirit light. It boasted functions such as size alteration, warmth in winter and coolness in summer, and protection spells. Sadly...

"I have no spiritual power to use these features! An upper-tier robe is theoretically more expensive than typical upper-tier artifacts, but it’s useless to me!"

For a warrior like Fang Xing, the robe couldn't be refined for its magical benefits, not even for size alteration. Wearing it would barely provide warmth in winter or coolness in summer, useful only as soft armor thanks to the fabric's inherent quality, but the protective spells were inaccessible.

The robe had only one utility for Fang Xing: sell it for spirit stones!

"And then there's this storage bag... there's bound to be good stuff inside, but I can't open it!"

Fang Xing glared at the dusty storage bag in his hands, frustration writ large on his face.

"A storage bag can't be easily damaged by ordinary artifacts, and even if I shoot it and somehow break it, the contents won't just spill out—they'd be lost in the turbulent space currents forever..."

Due to his inability to use many of the cultivators' treasures, Fang Xing wasn't particularly interested in Chen Yi's possessions.

Unfortunately, Chen Yi courted death!

"In essence, since I started living next to Meng Yi and his wife, followed by my contact with Hua Feiyue, I've been under surveillance, haven't I?"

"Enough, regardless of what schemes he had in mind, the dead should be left in peace, and so I forgive you."

Fang Xing sighed once more, picking up the flying knife for examination.

The lower-tier flying knife felt heavy in his hand, with a blood groove running down its center—a bona fide lower-tier artifact, yet even innate true qi found it hard to activate.

To Fang Xing, it remained merely an ornament.

Fang Xing considered the 'Inky Pattern Sword'. As a blood-refined magical weapon, it could be activated by innate true energy, and even external martial artists could unleash some of its power through a blood sacrifice.

However, Fang Xing clearly didn't trust Chen Yi's character too much, having only relied on the sword's sharpness to battle before.

Upon arriving here, he was even more determined to use various methods to thoroughly examine it.

Regarding items from the cultivation world, there shouldn't be an issue of secrets being leaked if brought to this realm.

As for the technological means here? There's certainly some risk involved, but it's more likely that items would be categorized as extraterrestrial artifacts or unknown alloys.

"For safety's sake, perhaps it would be wise to purchase a piece of equipment and take it to the temporary camp for testing... but doing so would consume a lot of star credits, and I might even need to turn to the black market..."

Fang Xing sighed.

He actively participated in off-campus internships mainly to better understand official methods and thereby deliberately avoid them.

"Nevertheless, even without using my own blood for the sacrificial refinement, this blood-refined weapon is a rare divine tool... more than sufficient for me at the moment."

Fang Xing carefully stored his acquisitions and opened the package carried by his sword.

Inside were jade bottles emitting a faint aroma of wine.

The bottles varied in size, with the larger ones containing 'tiger bone wine', made using the bones of demon tigers. Besides brewing it himself, he'd bought a considerable amount at the market.

Additionally, there were 'Tiger Marrow Pills' recommended by Xiao Rui from the Qing Dan Workshop—a body-enhancing spirit pill.

It was said that crafting these pills required the marrow of demon tigers, making them highly beneficial for enhancing one's physique, suitable for body refinement stages during the Qi Condensation phase.

For external martial artists, it seemed a slight waste.

But Fang Xing feared no waste!

He entered a special practice room nearby and took a sip of tiger bone wine: "Ah... so spicy, so strong... Drinking alcohol as a minor, I'm probably violating some federal laws, but it feels great! After all, what martial artist doesn't drink?"

As the wine settled in his stomach, Fang Xing felt a warm sensation spreading inside, with threads of energy beginning to cleanse and strengthen his bones.

"Hmm... Tiger bone wine has a gentle effect, suitable for daily consumption in moderation, perfectly paired with spiritual rice..."

"Besides that, there's the Tiger Marrow Pill!"

He fetched one black Tiger Marrow Pill and tossed it into his mouth.

With a mighty roar, Fang Xing's hands formed into claws as he leapt forward, adopting the stance of the 'Tiger Subduing Posture.'

In that fleeting moment, he transformed into a mystical tiger, traversing through the dense forest.

Each breath he took seemed to summon a wild gale to his side.

The saying holds true: clouds rise with the dragon, wind follows the tiger!

Half an hour later, Fang Xing wiped the pungent sweat from his brow and glanced at his attribute panel:

【Second Realm: Muscles and Bones】

【Tiger Subduing Posture: 15/100】

“Hm? The progress of the Tiger Subduing Posture is so swift?” he remarked, noting this rapid growth.

In recent days, he had observed how each practice session with the Tiger Subduing Posture consistently increased his proficiency substantially. The speed of improvement was impressive.

The rapid progress was naturally due to the foundational training he had with the Great Dragon Posture, along with his breakthrough in the Muscles and Bones Realm.

But today's session, accompanied by medicinal wine and elixirs, had propelled the Tiger Subduing Posture from novice level straight to proficient.

“Good stuff indeed!”

He mused, feeling that with these resources, he could soon elevate the Tiger Subduing Posture to the 'Mastery' stage, and then onto the fourth stage, 'Tiger's Intention.'

Fang Xing even sensed that the medicinal power of the wine and elixirs had yet to fully manifest, lingering instead within his bones.

Once the time came to temper his bones, progress would likely skyrocket!

“After all, this is merely the superficial Houtian Realm... Just a bit of resources is enough to push it forward.”

After finishing with the Tiger Subduing Posture, he picked up the Ink Pattern Sword and began to practice the moves of the 'Extreme Passion Sword.'

Whoosh!

With a casual slash, the blade of the Ink Pattern Sword gleamed with black light, leaving a deep mark on the wall.

“Excellent sword, truly excellent!”

He already knew of its sharpness, having used it to slay others before.

At this moment, having practiced a few moves of his swordsmanship, Fang Xing felt the flow of his technique becoming harmonious, even noticing that his sword’s aura seemed to be more fluid and sharper than common swords.

"Within the Blue Star Federation, there are, of course, weapons crafted specifically for warriors, made from various alloys... they are extremely precious."

"But from the looks of it now, this Mo-patterned Sword in my hand is definitely not an ordinary item..."

"If it’s ever exposed... there's a high probability it will be considered smuggled goods from other planets..."

After all, even in the interstellar era, not everyone is preoccupied with thoughts of traveling across dimensions.

When encountering things out of the ordinary, judgments are often made based on personal experience and knowledge.

With the material of the Mo-patterned Sword being uncertain, it’s highly likely to be regarded as some special metal from another planet. As for the forging technique, it could be speculated to originate from some alien technology!

In the vast universe, countless races exist with peculiar characteristics, making such situations all the more possible!

"Still, I cannot afford to be too ostentatious..."

"After all, the origin of this sword is too difficult to explain."

Fang Xing sighed slightly as he caressed the Mo-patterned Sword, feeling a bit rueful: "Alas, Chen Daoyou, why didn’t you send a good blade of the blood-refinement level as well?"

...

In the following period, Fang Xing reduced his ventures into other worlds.

He spent his days shuttling between school and his dormitory, diligently studying and honing his martial skills, rapidly advancing in his martial arts realm and in the 'Tiger Pounce Stance.'

Occasionally, he would visit the majestic Guangjiang Mansion to spar and exchange skills with Gu Yun.

It must be said, martial arts require real combat for any genuine progress, and Gu Yun, coincidentally similar yet slightly inferior in every aspect, was a perfect target for practice.

One day.

Fang Xing and Gu Yun stood side by side, arriving at a towering silver-white building that reached into the clouds.

This edifice seemed entirely constructed of metal, with not a single gap, nor any form of doorframe or window.

"Is this the Bureau of Prevention and Control?"

Fang Xing glanced at the silver-white structure, feeling a sense of awe in his heart.

The Bureau of Prevention and Control is a colossal entity within the Blue Star Federation, with branches in every star and city.

One could say, any part of daily life where ordinary people might come into contact with the extramundane evil gods falls under their jurisdiction!

"Hmm, today's our first day of off-campus internship, and Aunt Bai will be coming to pick us up."

Gu Yun dialed someone's contact, and before long, Fang Xing noticed the silver-white metal wall ahead melting away, revealing a circular doorway.

Through this circular doorway, more archways could be seen within, layers upon layers like a mille-feuille.

A professional woman walked out slowly from the overlapping doorways.

She seemed to be around thirty, wearing gold-rimmed glasses. Her beautiful face was usually devoid of expression, looking quite stern.

Only when she saw Gu Yun did she reveal a slight smile, "Xiaoyun, you've arrived?"

"Aunt Bai, hello, this is my classmate—Fang Xing!"

Gu Yun and Fang Xing greeted her promptly.

Out of the corner of his eye, Fang Xing caught a glimpse of her work badge on her chest — 'Department of Faith Theory, Bai Ziling.'

"Alright, follow me."

Bai Ziling adjusted her glasses and walked ahead in her high heels.

Fang Xing stepped into the silver-white structure, following Gu Yun.

"Each of these doors corresponds to a known extramundane evil god... If you have items from these evil gods on you, or carry similar contaminants, alarms will go off immediately."

Bai Ziling's voice echoed.

Fang Xing felt a twinge of concern, as he had been cautious enough to leave all his talismans and the ink-striped sword in an alternate world before coming over today.

Who knows what might have happened if he'd brought them along?

Passing through more than a dozen silver-white metal archways in succession, Fang Xing and Gu Yun reached a hall.

Above them, high-tech projections of blue sky and white clouds decorated the ceiling. Numerous staff members bustled back and forth in the hall, incredibly busy.

"This is... the Prevention Bureau?"

Gu Yun murmured softly, when suddenly, a hand appeared on her shoulder, "Little sister, are you Gu Renwang's daughter?"
