Chapter 10: Chapter 10 Injured

Two of the wolves were at level 3, while one was at level 2. He had faced a level 3 wolf before, and it took 3 fireballs to bring it down.

Raze's heart pounded as he stared at the three wolves. His legs were heavy, his breath ragged, but he had no choice—he had to fight.

"System, add all 6 of my Attribute points to agility," Raze spoke; he had to add to his chances of surviving. His Attribute points were just sitting there.

[Agility: 15 → 21]

Raze didn't really feel the change; it was too little for him to feel the physical change in his body, but still, it was something.

The wolves growled low, their eyes locked on him, inching closer.

Raze knew he couldn't outrun them. He could have tried dodging and using the trees to his advantage, but with his stamina so low, he knew running wasn't going to cut it.

Raze was also slowly moving backward. The wolves were going to attack, and with three of them, he wasn't sure he was going to survive.

The largest wolf, clearly the leader, bared its teeth and lunged at him.

[Fireball!]

Raze launched the spell, the ball of flames slamming into the wolf's side. It howled in pain as flames singed its fur, but it wasn't enough to stop it completely as the beast stood up almost immediately.

The beast lunged at him again, claws slashing into Raze's arm.

[-20 HP]

[HP: 70 → 50]

"Argh!" Raze gritted his teeth as he stumbled back, but the wolf was now closer to him. His heart pounded louder than the growls of the wolves. One wrong move, and he knew he'd be nothing more than another lost adventurer forgotten in the dungeon.

With his right hand, which wasn't injured, he blasted a fireball at close range.

The flames burst outwards, the wolf howling before collapsing on the ground, but the second wolf was already on him from the other side while the third was circling him, waiting for the opportunity.

The second wolf pounced while Raze was distracted, claws scraping his side, but he twisted his body, barely avoiding a deeper gash. His breath came in quick bursts, but he focused—another Fireball, and this time, he shot three in rapid succession.

[Fireball]

The flames struck the second wolf's head, body, and chest, igniting its fur. The beast yelped, thrashing before it fell limp beside the first.

Now only one wolf remained, and Raze quickly turned around. He had used almost all his Mana and now only had enough for two more fireballs, but the last wolf wasn't charging toward him.

The last wolf stared at Raze for a few seconds before slowly backing away and then running in the direction of the dungeon; after Raze killed two of its packmates, it did the most logical thing and ran away to avoid death.

Raze slumped to one knee, breathing hard, his arm still stinging from the bite.

"That... was too close," he muttered, clutching his side. But despite the pain, a small smirk formed on his face before the system came up.

[HP: 49/70]

[Debuff: Bleeding]

[Effect: Lose 2 HP every minute]

His smirk slowly faded away as he saw the information in front of him; he needed to get to the village and stop the bleeding. He still had 24 minutes to go.

[Crystal core ×2]

[Wolf Fang ×2]

He quickly stood up and continued forward, but not before picking up the crystal core and two fangs dropped by the wolves. He wasn't that far out, so he just needed to keep moving. Unlike other games where the player just felt pain at that moment, he could feel the sting in his hands.

Though it wasn't as bad as it would have been if it was in real life, the game developers really did a freaking good job.

Luckily, Raze didn't encounter any more beasts and made his way safely into the village. As soon as he walked in, an NPC saw him and ran towards him.

"You're hurt; come with me," she spoke, and Raze was surprised. She wasn't a healer, as there were enough healers in the newbie village, but he followed her since she wanted to help.

She walked for some seconds before arriving at a small house where she went in and came out with white clothing and a small bottle filled with something.

"You are an adventurer, right?" she asked as Raze stretched his hands to her.

"Yes, I am," Raze answered as he felt another sharp sting on his arm.

"It'll stop the bleeding and help," she spoke as she applied something to his hand and used the white clothing to wrap the affected area.

[Bleeding Stopped]

[HP: 43/70]

"Thank you for your help," Raze said as the information appeared in front of him, but since she asked if he was an adventurer, it was obvious she needed something.

"Do you need something?" Raze asked.

"I do, but there's a problem," she replied.

'A problem? If she gives me an impossible quest, I'll just decline. I already risked my life once—I'm not planning to do it again.'

"What's the problem?"

"I don't have anything to give as a reward, I'm an alchemist so I make potions, I learned from my father but he went on a journey and was attacked but I don't have enough money to leave the village when the carriage comes and I can't go alone"

"The carriage?" Raze asked.

"Tomorrow, the carriage is coming to bring new goods to the village and take some of the produce of the village to see to the city, and they also let people who want to go to the city ride with them; the carriage is guarded so it's my only choice" She spoke

"So what do you want me to do?" Raze asked.

"I need some materials: Slime crystals, wolf fangs, along with a plant called moon root to make potions"

[Quest triggered]

[Quest: Collect 10 Slime Crystals, 2 Wolf Fangs, and 1 Moon Root]

[NPC Reward: Unspecified Potion]

[System Reward: +200 Exp]

Raze nodded, glancing at the quest notification. The materials seemed manageable—at least compared to the wolves.
