Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Annihilation Eyes

"**! You've pissed me off!"

"You little bastard, go to hell!"

The white man and his accomplices, seeing that Alex had no intention of leaving, immediately lost their patience. They raised their guns and began firing at Alex without hesitation!

As mercenaries employed by research institutions, they were accustomed to bloodshed. A life, no matter how insignificant, was worth less than a dollar in their eyes. Since Alex was seeking death on his own, they were more than happy to eliminate him.

"Tat tat tat tat tat~~"

In an instant, the sound of gunfire erupted. Two submachine guns simultaneously spat out tongues of flame, their bullets weaving into a deadly net in front of Alex's terrified gaze. The bullets, accompanied by the sound of air being pierced, flew swiftly toward their target.

"Bang bang bang bang bang~~"

The bullets rained down relentlessly, impacting the ground and walls. The asphalt road and cement walls were immediately pocked with deep bullet marks, and shards of debris flew in all directions!

However—

The target they aimed for had long since moved beyond their reach!

Before their very eyes, Alex strolled through the hail of bullets, as though in slow motion, every bullet shot in his direction casually dodged by him. The fire net, capable of turning a lion into a pincushion, couldn't even halt Alex's steps!

"Ah~~"

The two mercenaries screamed in panic, firing their guns as if their lives depended on it. They had now realized that the boy's actions were beyond anything a normal human could achieve!

The only explanation—was that they had encountered a mutant!

"Are you still afraid?" Alex's smile widened, and he moved steadily forward, closing the distance between them. "You guys only care about the money, so you're scared? Even you, who fear nothing, can feel fear?"

"**!"

At a critical moment, the white man's submachine gun ran out of ammo. He cursed and swiftly pulled a new magazine from his pocket, reloading the gun to continue firing at Alex.

Although they both knew that their weapons could do nothing to stop the boy from advancing!

"Pa! Pa! Pa! Pa!"

Alex's footsteps rang out rhythmically, even though they were mixed with gunfire, they still pierced through the chaos clearly into the ears of the mercenaries, tormenting their minds and spirits!

"Shit!"

"**!"

The mercenaries' mental defenses were finally shattered by Alex's steady approach. Both of them cursed in unison and turned, fleeing toward the nearby car in desperation.

Once they reached the car and pressed the gas, they would be able to escape the demon chasing them!

"Think you can escape?" Alex's smile grew wider, and his eyes suddenly shifted, an eerie red light flashing from them. "Unfortunately, it's already—too late!"

"Bang!"

The white man's companion, who was fleeing, suddenly felt an overwhelming force. His body was thrown involuntarily and slammed hard into a wall next to a parked car.

"Mm…"

A muffled grunt escaped him as fear and blood surged up his throat, but he swallowed it down. A hand, stronger than a grizzly bear's, tightened around his throat and lifted his body off the ground, pressing him painfully against the wall.

"…Ugh…ugh…"

The mercenary stared in horror at the boy, whose strength seemed completely disproportionate to his appearance, his eyes wide as if staring at a devil from hell. His fear was palpable!

In his vision, he saw the transformation in Alex's eyes—eyes that were definitely not human!

Before him, two crimson crosses appeared in Alex's pupils, glowing blood-red. Combined with his handsome features, the effect was otherworldly and terrifying!

This was a demonic eye technique from another world, known as one of the five magic eyes—Annihilation Eyes. It was the most difficult to deal with, able to absorb the spiritual power from the air and flesh and blood of living beings!

"Demon!"

This was the word the man desperately wanted to shout, but his throat was constricted, and no sound came out. All he could do was look at Alex in terror, silently begging with his eyes.

"Begging? When others begged you, did you show mercy?" Alex sneered, glancing at the white man nearby. "Fear, tremble, run for your life! Before I catch you, run for your life with all your strength! When I appear again, it will be the moment I send you to hell! Until then, run with all you've got!"

"Devil… Devil… Devil…"

Seeing Alex's eyes, the white man nearly wet himself. He couldn't care less about his companion's fate, scrambling into the car and driving off without a second thought, not daring to look back!

"Woo woo woo~~"

Seeing the white man flee, the mercenary, still struggling, exerted all his force, but whether he was pleading for mercy or cursing the white man's betrayal was unclear.

However, it didn't matter to Alex. He had no interest in the man's true intentions!

"Annihilation Eyes, activate!"

Seeing the man's desperate expression, Alex showed no mercy. His blood-red eyes suddenly flared, and an invisible force was immediately exerted on the mercenary.

"Ugh…"

The man's eyes widened, and his body instantly grew limp. With a light buzzing sound, every part of him—every organ, every cell—turned into countless fragments as if something that had been hidden for thousands of years in a sealed room was suddenly exposed to the air. These fragments swiftly entered Alex's eyes.

"Whoosh~"

The man was completely gone from the world, his clothes and weapons left scattered on the ground.

Having absorbed the man in an eerie manner with his eyes, Alex let out a satisfied burp, as if he had just eaten a satisfying meal. "The power's surging in! Eating people is so much more efficient than usual!"

"Big brother, y-you're a mutant too?" The little girl, having witnessed Alex's "devouring," was terrified but still did not run away. She stood trembling, watching him.

"Rare, really rare! Someone saw me like this and didn't run away!" Alex was somewhat surprised, looking at the little girl, and muttered, "Is it because I'm a 'mutant'?"

He paused for a moment, then looked at the girl, retracting his Annihilation Eyes. He smiled. "I don't know what 'mutant' means. I'm a real human! If you're looking for 'mutant' companions, go ahead and find them." With that, he ignored her and walked confidently toward the direction the white man had fled in.

"The hunt begins!"

"Easily dodging bullets, 'eating' humans—big brother must be a 'mutant'!" The little girl looked at Alex's retreating figure, her heart more determined than ever.

Since she was old enough to understand, her parents had feared her, never showing her any care. Her life had been a constant cycle of disdain, exclusion, and bullying by her peers. Finally, after realizing she was a so-called "mutant," she fled her hellish home and set out to find others like her.

Now, having finally found a "companion," how could she easily leave?

Despite the fear she felt from Alex's strange eyes, she chose to follow him. She nervously bit her lip and began jogging after him, determined to keep up.
