Superpowers in the Marvel World

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: An Interesting Matter

"Beep beep—"

The phone in the pocket vibrated, and the blonde-haired boy strolling beside the street perked up at the sound. He immediately took out his phone.

"Hello, who is this?"

"Bang, bang, bang!!!"

Instead of a voice answering the boy, the phone was filled with continuous gunfire and the sharp, metallic sound of bullet casings hitting the ground.

Focusing his attention for a moment, a helpless smile appeared on the boy's face. "Hitgirl, I've told you so many times, don't call me during a fight! I hate attending funerals the most!!"

"***, damn Alex, I wouldn't die even if you were dead!"

A crude insult came from the phone, but surprisingly, the voice was incredibly pleasant. Even amidst the gunshots and impact sounds, it couldn't be drowned out. Though the words were hardly polite!

"Tch! What do you want from me? Just so you know, I'm not helping you fight, I'm in Canada right now, enjoying the exotic scenery!" The boy casually changed the subject.

From his complete indifference to the other person's rude behavior, it was clear that he had gotten used to it!

"Oh~ so you're traveling in Canada, no wonder no one's home! That's really inconsiderate!!"

Amidst the complaints, the gunfire grew louder. Alex could tell that she was fighting back from a distance. If she had time to call him, it probably meant her opponents weren't that strong!

"How do you know no one's home? I locked the door pretty securely, you know!" Alex replied with frustration, certain that her answer would only make him more upset.

As expected, the next moment, the phone delivered a response that nearly made him choke on his frustration. The girl proudly bragged, "A mere door lock, how can it stop Hitgirl? I rang the doorbell for ages and you didn't come out, so 'bang!' One shot, and I shot your door lock to pieces! Impressive, right?"

"The impressive thing isn't your skills, it's your IQ!" Alex sighed quietly. "I know you didn't replace the lock, did you?"

"Of course not, I'm not a locksmith!"

"You...!"

Alex gritted his teeth. He was upset about his collection of priceless antiques at home—items he had collected during his travels. If that clueless little thief took them, he'd be thoroughly frustrated!

"I just hope the staff at the villa can be trusted, I'm not counting on Hitgirl!"

While Alex was grumbling to himself, ready to scold the girl, his expression suddenly changed. A subtle smile appeared on his lips.

"Hitgirl, I won't talk to you for now. Something interesting is happening here, I'm hanging up!"

"Hey, hey, hey! I'm not done talking... when you get back to the States, I'm really going to teach you a lesson... you bunch of son-of-a-*****... bang, bang, bang..."

Alex shook his head, having nothing more to say to this "little kid." He hung up the phone and quickly walked towards a small alley ahead, where the "interesting" thing he had mentioned was happening.

In a dimly lit corner, a young girl, no older than ten, was curled up, her body trembling as she huddled against the wall, nervously glancing ahead.

What frightened her was not just the situation, but the two men standing before her. They wore strange, tight combat suits, and their ** guns were aimed directly at her.

She knew that if she dared to resist, they would immediately pull the trigger, and the bullets would end her life in an instant!

"Good luck, she's a mutant. If we get her to the island, we'll make a hefty reward!" The white man with special eyes flashed a large grin as he glanced at his companion.

"That's right. I heard from Sam that every time they catch a mutant, the higher-ups reward them with a large sum. That guy was lucky to catch one, and now he's living comfortably, spending money like crazy. When we get our hands on the money, we're going to enjoy it too!" The other man, a large, muscular fellow, chuckled.

"Hehehe!"

The two shared a joyful smile, completely ignoring the terrified little girl huddling against the wall. The white man stepped forward and grabbed her wrist. "Alright, little one, come with us!"

"No, please, don't..."

The girl struggled, but against the powerful white man, her resistance was useless. He easily yanked her up and dragged her toward the alley's exit.

"Ah—!"

Suddenly, a pained scream escaped from the white man's mouth. He turned to see that the "mutant" girl, unwilling to be taken, had bitten down hard on his right arm!

"**** bastard!"

The white man cursed, but still seething with anger, he shoved the girl into the wall and raised his ** gun, aiming it directly at her.

His companion, startled, hurried to intervene. "Dammit, you're crazy! Stop! If you kill her, what about the reward?"

"Reward?" The white man muttered, reluctantly lowering his gun. "You're right, I can't be impulsive, or the reward will slip away."

He stepped forward and kicked the girl, sneering at her. "If you weren't a mutant, I would've shot you by now! Next time you try to resist, I won't be so polite! The higher-ups want live mutants, not ones missing limbs. Do you want to be a cripple?"

"Mm..."

The girl's pupils contracted sharply, and she involuntarily shook her head.

"That's more like it!"

The white man grinned grotesquely, pulling her up. Under the threat of the gun and his words, the girl, though unwilling, reluctantly complied, taking slow steps toward the alley exit with them.

A black sedan was parked outside the alley—likely their vehicle for transporting mutants.

"Ugh..."

Under the gunmen's coercion, the girl stepped into the dark car. The fear and anxiety of what awaited her in the unknown future caused her to begin sobbing uncontrollably.

"****, stop crying!" The white man said impatiently, raising his hand to slap her.

"Hey, let's stop right there. Bullying a little girl isn't very gentlemanly, you know!"

At that moment, a playful voice rang out from a distance. Alex, the blonde-haired boy, smirked as he walked over from the street, hands in his pockets, showing no fear of the ** guns in the men's hands.

"..."

Upon hearing his voice, the girl immediately looked up at Alex with hope, but when she saw him clearly, her hope quickly faded. He didn't look like he could take on the two armed men!

"****! Who's this brat, sticking his nose in our business?" The white man cursed, pointing his gun at Alex. "See this? You better get lost while we're still in a good mood!"

"Just a couple of sticks," Alex smirked, unconcerned, continuing his walk without breaking stride. "In my eyes, they're less useful than a fruit knife!"

"****!"

The white man's companion was now angry. He raised his submachine gun and fired a shot. "Bang!" The bullet ricocheted off the ground near Alex, sending sparks flying and rocks scattering.

"Anyone who wants to live, get lost now!"

The white man laughed mockingly, "The young generation really doesn't learn. They watch a few superhero movies and think they're heroes now! Hahaha, what an idiot!"

"Exactly!"

"Big brother, you should leave! You can't beat them!" A weak voice suddenly appeared in Alex's mind. His gaze instinctively shifted to the little girl watching him.

"Superpower? Or..."

He was puzzled, but without hesitation, Alex continued walking. A slight smile cracked on his lips as he murmured, "For your sake, I'm saving you today!"

Just as the words left his mouth, a faint red light appeared in Alex's eyes...
