Episode 1, Chapter 3: Mechanical Madness
Chris, Corry, and Noland stare ahead at the sight that beholds them. The main room on the inside of the warehouse were piles of skeletal and mostly rotten corpses, and in the middle of the room, were robots that seemed to be shut down and dismantled, they were very humanoid, having flat greyish-brown faces due to the rust.
"What... the hell... happened here-!?" Chris asks, completely stunned.
"I-I don't know...." Noland responds quietly.
Corry walks forward and inspects the area before smiling and turning back to the group.
"We can melt down these robots and get enough scrap metal to last us who knows how long!!" Corry chirps.
Chris and Noland look at each other in complete disgrace of their friend.
(Just how carefree can this guy be...?) They think in unison.
Chris crosses his arms and walks forward, Noland stays behind, cautious as to what might happen. Corry examines the robots, chuckling lightly.
"It looks as if they could just come alive at any second!!" Corry pipes, reaching out at one.
"Wait, don't touch it-" Chris starts.
As soon as Corry touches one of the robots, it comes alive and looks at him.
<UNRECOGNI-NI-NI-NIZED INDIVIDUAL. BEGINNING A-aAttack->
Corry yelps as the robot slowly rises to its feet and stumbles at him, Noland watches in the background, trying to stay out of the conflict.
"Corry, your sword!!" Chris calls out.
Corry nods and whips out his sword, slashing at the robot. The mechanical menace freezes for a tiny bit before it's upper half slowly slides off of it's legs, clattering onto the floor.
"...Did I win?" Corry asks hopefully.
"I- Uh- I think so-" Chris replies uncertainly.
The robot suddenly starts flashing red, beeping somewhat loudly.
"Is that what I think it is?" Corry questions.
"A distress signal? Yep. Probably." Chris says, facepalming.
The other robots start to get up and look directly at Chris and Corry.
"You see? This is why we're careful about this stuff Corry. How about listening to me next time." Chris growls.
Noland shrieks loudly and tries to bolt out of the warehouse, but some of the robots shoot light blue rocket flames out from the bottom of their feet, flying overhead and landing in front of Noland.
"Oh come on, I really didn't want to fight-!!"
"Oh crap, Noland-!! Let me help-!!" Corry calls, going for Noland before Chris stops him.
"Noland can handle himself!! Let's focus on ourselves for now!! Look, here they come!!" Chris calls out.
Sure enough, the robots that remained in the center of the room peel out towards Chris and Corry, they lunge at the robots as well, preparing for battle. In the process, Chris and Corry are separated and spread around the room. Corry takes on a large group of robots with his blade, he runs through them, swinging wildly as he cuts off mechanical limbs and heads left and right. One of the robots flies behind him and decks him in the back of the skull, causing him to lurch forward. He rubs the back of his head before turning around, a furious look on his face.
"Hey!!! Not cool, you robo-idiot!!" Corry yells.
He gets back into a ready stance before the robots in the center aim their hands at Corry, causing him some major confusion.
"Huh? Are they surrendering?? Did I win??" He asks, smiling a bit.
No. No he did not win. The machines fire yellow energy waves from their palms directly at Corry. He yelps and is engulfed as the beams explode. When the smoke clears, Corey is standing there, holding up his arms to block. He looks over to the robots, shaking his head to get the soot off.
"Oh that's it... You guys are going down!!" Corry screams, raising his sword up above his head. He starts to spin on his feet, picking up momentum as he keeps getting faster. Eventually, Corry starts spinning like a tornado, even whipping up a whirlwind. The robots start getting pulled in, getting demolished as they touch Corry's Corkscrew Blade.
On Chris's side, he was taking down bots with his bare fists and steel-toed feet, punching and kicking them in every direction. One comes up behind Chris, but he swiftly turns around and grabs it by the hands.
"Dismantling these things is more fun than I thought it'd be, looks like this isn't a waste of time." Chris says mockingly.
He swings the robot he had hold of over his head and slams it down into the floor, causing it to break into pieces. The robots keep piling up around Chris, causing him to back off a bit.
"Damn... They just don't stop coming-!! Well then... I guess I'll have to test these out!!" Chris says, smirking.
He pulls out a mechanical ball that was covered in pressure pads, one of the pieces of tech he had in his junk box. He jumps into the air and aims his hand down.
"Electrospark!!" Chris calls out, tossing the Electrospark grenade down. As soon as it hits the ground, it detonates into a large burst of electricity. The bots standing around the wave start to spazz out before toppling over, smoking profusely. Chris lands down and pulls out another one.
"Ready for more, scrap buckets-??" Chris says.
Last but not least, Noland was trying his best to dodge the physical attacks and energy beams launched by the bots.
"Crap crap craaap....!!! What am I supposed to do..!? Oh well... This isn't finished yet, but I think it should do the trick.... Hopefully..." Noland gasps under his breath.
Noland pulls out the small ray gun he was working on earlier, aiming it at one of the robot's heads. He fires a thin blue laser shot which knocks the head off of the robot, causing it to shut down. Noland stares at what he's done, so do the other robots. They all look at each other before looking back at Noland.
"Welp... Guess I'm doing this-" Noland sighs.
He starts firing his weapon at rapid speeds, a barrage of blue laser blasts soaring into the crowd of machines, taking them down as soon as they get struck.
"Just gotta keep this going until the battery overheats...!" Noland says, continuing his onslaught.
The three of them continue their fight until there's only one robot remaining. They corner it as it slowly backs away, aiming it's hands out.
"Nowhere left to hide, you're gonna get shut down whether you like it or not." Chris says, grinning.
The bot freezes before flashing red like the first one was.
<SCANNING FOR NEAREST EMPLOYER. 1,857 MILES AWAY. TECHWAY. CALLING TECHWAY FOR ASSISTANCE.>
Chris's eyes widen, he stares at the robot.
"Did.. Did it just say..?" Chris asks, believing that the other two will finally believe him, before Noland shoots the robot in the head, destroying it.
"Don't let it call for backup-!! It needs to be broken down!!" Noland shrieks.
Chris grabs Noland by his jacket and starts shaking him back and forth.
"WHY DID YOU DESTROY IT-!? WE COULD HAVE ASKED IT WHAT IT KNEW-" Chris screams at Noland.
Noland gets flung back and forth, his glasses almost being launched off of his head.
"LAY- OFF- AL- READY- TECH- WAY- ISN'T- OUR- PROB- LEM-" Noland shouts as he gets manhandled.
Chris drops Noland, letting him fall on his butt.
"Hey. Corry. Didn't you say that these warehouses were brought up by the enemy during the Chaos War??" Chris asks, clearly already knowing the answer.
"Uhhhhh, yeah-" Corry replies, confused.
Chris snaps his fingers, pointing at Corry.
"Then is it not obvious-!? It's clearly Techway's doing-!!" Chris shouts.
Corry sighs before responding.
"Look, they're not doing anything to us, if they do something to us, that's when we'll attack, ok? This is some pretty solid evidence, but I'm not gonna do something just out of spite, that would put me at their level." Corry says, chuckling lightly to try and lighten the mood.
Chris clenches his fists tightly before giving up, he goes to load the broken down robot pieces into a cart to carry back to the ship.
Noland gets up, readjusting his glasses and brushing his tangled brown hair out of his face.
"Sometimes, he really needs to take a chill pill or something... He's making a big deal out of nothing." Noland grumbles.
Corry watches Chris from afar, staring blankly.
"Yeah... But you know, I'm pretty sure there's a reason he's trying to get revenge. He lost someone he really cares about in that war. I'm not saying he's the only one... I lost a lot of things..." Corry says in a somber tone.
"You haven't lost that much Noland, you still have almost all of your family." He says.
Noland closes his eyes and hangs his head down.
"Stop trying to guilt trip me, that's just gonna make things worse, and that's something I could really do without, please." Noland mutters before going to join Chris with the cargo.
Corry looks out towards the blue sky, the sun was beginning to set, adding an orange and purple tint to the sky as well, making for a beautiful sight to behold.
"...Don't worry, Chris. I feel the same way, there's nothing wrong with that." Corry admits to himself.
He runs over to begin packing the loot...
About a thousand miles in the distance, a large airship is seen floating through the air, about twice the size of the one Chris, Corry, and Noland were in. Inside the control bay were multiple men clad in grey and cyan uniforms working the computers and control stations and whatnot. At the front of the room was a man looking out the window, seemingly the leader of these people. A normal officer walks up the leader, holding a report.
"Sir, it appears we've received an alert from an old model fighter sentry that hasn't been used in years, its made by the same manufacturer, but even with it being an older model, it was defeated by someone." The Officer states loudly.
The leader sniffs and turns his head, revealing a silver mustache surrounded by a very wrinkly face.
"...Where are they?" The leader asks calmly.
"Only about 1.8 thousand miles to the northeast, shall we proceed sir?" The officer asks, waiting for his orders.
"....Yes, we were ordered by the Headmaster to kill anyone who opposed us. We'll find the culprits behind this attack... And we'll make sure they never see the light of day ever again in their entire lives." The leader says menacingly...
