The Married Life Of Immortals

Chapter 11: Honey, I Am Home (Nightmare Mode) Pt 1

Before Bane had even left the portal, he suppressed his aura, and asked Eve to hide his presence. He also created a dark green cloak with a deep hood, along with other standard wear that Bane had seen people in the village of heroes wear.

'Why are you trying to hide from her? Why don't you just go and get this over with,' Eve asked from within Bane's mind as he stepped out of Victor's house into what could only be described as a warzone.

Only a few buildings were burning, but not a single one in sight was unscathed of damage. Some of the villagers were carrying other villagers around, while others were trying to put out fires, but the most shocking sight was Lysia standing in the middle of it all. Her hair was wild with mana, making it look like she had her finger in a light socket, and her clothes were torn, revealing her smooth creamy white skin.

Stirring coming from the rubble of one building drew Bane's vision, and in the next instant, he watched a battered Nina with broken silver armor shot out. She collided with Lysia, and then two shot off to the other side of the village, and in the next instant, Bane felt the ground tremor, and then heard the impact.

'Sheesh, these women really don't hold back!' Bane laughed internally as he vanished from his spot, and appeared high up in a tree a short way from the village.

'When did you get so fast? And do not ignore my question! You can see that everyone is suffering, can you not?' Eve demanded, but Bane just got comfortable on the large branch he was sitting on.

'None of this was my doing, right? I am also back early, so sue me if I plan to sit back and watch them for a bit. No one is dead, and I will make them heal any of the injured, but most people just looked tired. I get that, but I am sure that getting them to settle down isn't going to be easy,' Bane explained, watching the two women fight.

Eve emerged from his body in her glowing blue form, taking a seat beside him. "What do you plan to do about Nina?"

In the village, Lysia had turned her hands into burning blades, and savagely slashed at Nina, who held her ground with her brilliant silver spear and ornate tower shield. No matter how hard each one pushed, both seemed evenly matched in Bane's eyes. Truthfully, in more than just fighting, but Bane wasn't sure if he should even consider these thoughts.

Bane had been trying to ignore this, but now he was back, and the two women were before him. His feelings on the matter were muddled, but it wasn’t as if he didn’t find Nina attractive. Both her and Lysia had electric personalities, but they also had their differences. Still, even just having these thoughts felt wrong to Bane.

"I honestly don't know, and that is part of the reason why I am just watching them. The more I see them now, the more I feel like they both have mirrored personalities. Both women are beautiful, but Lysia spoke first, and I love her," Bane sighed, and Eve nodded.

"True, but she also didn't give you much of a chance. In fact, she forced immortality on you, and even if you are okay with that, I think you should consider what your future is going to be like. Forever is a long time, and having partners who are all friends might not be such a bad thing for you. In my opinion, Lysia and Nina are like sisters, and I think that if you can make them see reason, they will become your most powerful allies. Even Nia would make a good addition, considering the changes she has gone through since the demon world," Eve explained, but then gave Bane a look. "Not to mention, if you were to keep these women in your harem, you will have an easier time dealing with future problems. Not everything will be able to be solved with force in the future."

"Bleh," Bane groaned and stuck out his tongue. "Harem... I am sure that it isn't something wrong, but I am still getting used to the idea, and the idea that I have four women I might call my wives... Well, it is all just hard to process. I just don't get how it works without having them try to kill one another, or me just because. This is not some happy go lucky group of women. Half of them play hard to get, and then the other half I get the feeling they kill any other women that look at me."

"So you agree with what I am saying?" Eve asked, and Bane shrugged.

"I guess so, but there is still a lot to consider. If they become my wives, how would that affect their own feelings? Can a group of women like this actually get along?" Bane asked, and Eve gave him a knowing look.

"Do you want my honest opinion? The fact that they have all fallen for you and done what they did shows that each of them are willing to do almost anything to be with you. While some might prove that they care in odd ways, I think they would be willing if it was to stay with someone like you. While you have more faults than you realize, you are also a man who will do what you need to protect the people around you. That and your unending strength alone is enough to make anyone fall in love with you, and even more so when no matter how strong you seem to get, you never have changed," Eve said, and then took a deep breath. "The only thing that is holding you back from being a true hero is your trollish attitude and anger issues. It is those two things that always drive you to take the hardest route, and while that might be needed, it doesn't mean that there aren't easier ways to do things."

Bane sat there for a moment and thought about what Eve had said, and then he just shook his head. "That was deep for you, little sister. Have you been reading romance novels while I was gone?" Bane asked, and patted her head.

Eve tried to swat his hand away, but even for her it was like trying to move the immovable, and she gave up within moments.

"What is with calling me little sister? Do I look that young to you?" Eve asked after Bane stopped and turned back to watch the two women fight.

"Meh. I have never had a little sister before, but I figured if I did, she would probably act like you. You always give me shit, but I know you are looking out for me," Bane said, and then stood up on the branch and gave his body a good stretch.

Eve's mind drifted back to her past life when she was just a normal human, and a perpetually angry version of Bane had joined her party in Dominion Online. Bane had always been mad, and never opened up, but when the armies of Guardian descended on the world, Bane had led the resistance that nearly crushed the invaders. Even if they failed in the end, Bane had only been a high powered human with a maxed out level. Now Bane was becoming something else entirely.

"I like this version of you," Eve said, standing up, and Bane looked over at her with a strange look.

"What do you mean?" He asked, but Eve just shook her head with a smile and reemerged with his body.

'I suggest that you just be yourself, and I am sure the women will see reason,' Eve said, and Bane snorted.

"Why do I feel like being an asshole isn't the right choice here?" Bane asked, and Eve laughed from within his mind.

'Because for once you are trying to get women to love you, not to piss them off. I honestly didn't think it was possible,' Eve joked, but Bane ignored her and shot towards the village.

The fighting between Nina and Lysia had died down a bit, and the two were talking as Bane got closer. From what he could hear, they were arguing about who had won more clashes. Bane smiled, but finally let his presence flood out and both women froze, turning in his direction as he walked towards them.

'Wish me luck!' Bane snorted internally.

'You will need it, Big Brother,' Eve replied with a laugh, and Bane had to fight the urge to roll his eyes as he approached the women.
