Chapter 244 - Divine Cat Mii-chan has class-changed into a battery.

Chapter 244: Divine Cat Mii-chan has class-changed into a battery.

When I got home, the whole group was excited like children before a field trip. I get that they’re happy, but seriously, stop setting up a tent indoors. Mii-chan isn’t going in! Oh, Lu-kun and Laru-kun are inside too…

“Mii…”

“Grr…”

“Kyuu…”

Perro, Sera, and the Munakata siblings are requesting tomorrow’s lunch from Katia and the others. Meanwhile, Lu-san, Jin-san, and Zeke-san are drinking. So carefree.

There’s a lot to do tomorrow, so I better soak in the bath and relax. Mii-chan, let’s head to the bath! Lu-kun and Laru-kun, are you coming too? Alright, let’s go!

Early in the morning, Perro and the others received their bento from Katia-san and set off for Quint.

“It suddenly feels so quiet…”

Yuri-san muttered as she held Kai. It’s always noisy when they’re around, but once they’re gone, it feels a bit lonely.

Yuri-san also had her resignation from the Hunter Guild accepted. She can’t leave right away due to the handover process, but it’s a relief that Guild Master Zest approved it. Let’s visit him later to say thanks.

Since it’s still early to head out, I decided to try an experiment I’d been thinking about. During the recent battle with the Dark Guild, my soul vessel grew larger, allowing me to learn new skills. So, I aimed to acquire a new skill.

In a book I read recently, there was a scene where a hero used lightning to attack monsters. While it might just be a tall tale, I have a feeling the lightning skill really exists!

So, I began my experiment. I had several metal rods made by a blacksmith. I wrapped the handle with paper and rubbed the metal part with a wool cloth—over and over! Then, with a burst of courage, I slowly moved my finger toward the metal rod… Zap! Ouch… It’s static electricity. I repeated this multiple times, writhing in pain. Mii-chan, Kai, Lu-kun, and Laru-kun all watched with dismay. But I didn’t give up—ouch!

I was on the verge of giving up many times. But! Fufufu… I succeeded in acquiring the lightning skill. Instantly.

Lightning = electricity, the only energy humanity can control. I basically understand the theory. It’s caused by the movement of electric charge, like the static electricity I just experienced. If it’s something like that, I should be able to handle it. I’ve acquired infinite energy! Wahahaha!

Now, let’s test it out. I distanced myself from Mii-chan and the others and stuck one of the metal rods in the ground as a target. I imagined myself as a certain dark lord from a space saga. Holding out my hand, I pictured electricity flowing to the target. With a crackling sound, electricity shot from my five fingers, striking the target metal rod, which flew into the air from the impact. Whoa! Almost exactly as I expected. Almost, because one of the discharges from my pinky missed the target and hit a nearby rod.

I tried several more times, but it didn’t go perfectly. After a while, my hand went numb, so this skill doesn’t seem to be one I can use repeatedly. As I returned to Mii-chan and the others for a break, I noticed Mii-chan’s fur standing on end. When I tried to touch her… Zap! Ouch. Could it be that Mii-chan learned the skill too?

“Mii~”

When I appraised Mii-chan, it showed she had the “Divine Lightning” skill. What’s divine lightning? How did Mii-chan learn the skill just by watching me struggle so hard? Mii-chan was now playing with the metal rods, shooting lightning at them with her paws. It was unexpectedly powerful, and she could even shoot it continuously. All the effort I put in… But I learned that it’s possible to shoot lightning that way too. Thanks for the lesson, Mii-chan!

“Mii~!”

Once my hand stopped tingling, I resumed practice. First, I tried single-shot lightning like Mii-chan did. I imagined it like a certain vegetable prince’s pose, with one hand extended forward to shoot from my palm. It felt a bit embarrassing. But it worked!

By imagining the electricity as a large mass, I could increase its destructive power, but it was exhausting… With just the size of a single finger, I could fire repeatedly, gradually chipping away at the tree I was targeting. When I made it the size of a fist, it snapped a tree about 10 cm thick.

Next, I realized that the problem with firing from all five fingers at once was a lack of control. But I did it because I wanted to! So, I tried discharging just from my index finger. It was like a lightning whip. If I lost focus, it would whip around wildly, but when I hit the target tree, it started to spark all over and then exploded. My guess is that the electricity couldn’t escape into the ground, causing the moisture inside to vaporize rapidly and expand, leading to the explosion. I assume this would work on most living things.

However, if I lose focus, the discharge could turn into friendly fire. Since it’s electricity, it naturally seeks the path of least resistance, like metal or grounded objects. As long as I concentrate, it’s fine, but it’s tiring… I think I’ve acquired a devastating technique.

Mii-chan seems to have excellent compatibility with the Divine Lightning skill, controlling it effortlessly. The amazing thing about Divine Lightning is that it extends from Mii-chan’s paws and its power is adjustable. When Mii-chan touches me with her Divine Lightning, it doesn’t hurt at all. Earlier, it hurt, but now it just tickles. I also found that my lightning skill works well with Divine Lightning, allowing me to use the lightning Mii-chan creates.

Mii-chan has class-changed into a natural infinite battery!

“Mii~!”
