Chapter 45
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Chapter 45: To the Next Town
After defeating Build and the others, we returned to the inn, washed our bodies without eating, healed my missing arm, and then fell into a deep sleep, only to wake up to the next day’s afternoon.
Awakened by hunger, I glanced around the room and spotted Fiera, who was unusually still sleeping in the adjacent bed.
(Well, we were both exhausted yesterday after all.)
I got out of bed carefully so as not to wake her and walked down the hallway, stretching my body lightly as I made my way downstairs and out of the inn.
This inn provided breakfast and dinner, but lunch had to be eaten outside, so I had to go out to get something to eat at this hour.
“Now, what should I eat?”
Wandering around the food stalls, I bought some skewers and soup, then sat on a nearby bench to eat while gazing at the town.
“Ah, delicious. Rich flavors for my tired body. Truly the best.”
As I enjoyed my food, I pondered where I should go next.
“Maybe I’ll head south. I heard there’s a town to the south with a beautiful sea view.”
The sea was said to be like a vast pool of saltwater, with no end in sight.
Also, beyond the sea lay other continents and countries, including the eastern nation where the technique I used to fight Build originated, which is also across the sea.
“I want to visit the other side of the sea someday.”
I wouldn’t have the time to go on this trip, but it would be nice if I could someday—whether in this life or the next.
“Alright, time to head back.”
Finishing my meal, I bought some skewers for Fiera and began walking back to the inn.
The next day, around noon, we visited Zoido’s mansion.
It seemed he had already informed them of our arrival, as we were let in immediately after telling the knights our names.
Led by the butler, we walked through the mansion until we reached the reception room, where we were told, “The lord will be here shortly. Please wait a moment.”
After a short while, Zoido entered the room, looking more tired than he did two days ago.
“Sorry to keep you waiting.”
“No, more importantly, you look quite exhausted.”
“Ah, it’s because of the aftermath of the monster rampage. I have to report the situation to His Majesty, and there’s just so much to do.”
Zoido spoke with a bitter smile, but his fatigue was evident.
“By the way, your left arm has returned? What happened?”
“I think you can imagine, but let’s keep it a secret for now.”
“I see. If that’s what you wish, then so be it. Now, as a token of gratitude for this time, let’s settle your reward first.”
At Zoido’s words, the butler placed a bag of coins in front of us.
It was clear that a considerable amount of money was inside, but I accepted it without refusing, as it would be rude to do so.
“Now then, is there anything else you desire? I initially considered recommending you as a knight in my service, but you seem to be enjoying your travels, so that wouldn’t be likely.
If there’s anything I can procure for you, just let me know.”
As I pondered what to ask for, I looked at Fiera, but she shook her head, suggesting she didn’t need anything in particular.
“Then, could I request a magic sword?”
“A magic sword?”
“Yes. Actually, the sword I was using during the recent battle with the Forest King has become unusable. If it’s possible, I would love to have a magic sword…”
“A magic sword, you say? Do you have a preferred attribute?”
“Not particularly.”
“Alright then. Wait a moment.”
After calling to the butler, he bowed and left the room.
“There’s a nice magic sword in my treasure vault. I’ll have it brought to you, so please wait a moment.”
After a little while, the butler returned with a sword in hand.
Zoido took it and presented it to me.
“This is…”
The hilt of the magic sword was dyed red, and in the center, a crimson magic stone was set, clearly indicating it was a fire-type magic sword.
“This magic sword is called Flame Sword Ignid. As you can see, it’s a fire-type sword. Its ability allows the blade to engulf in flames, and while in use, it reduces the magic power consumption of fire spells.”
“It’s a fine sword indeed…”
As I drew the sword from its sheath, the blade, also stained crimson like the magic stone, pulsated with a heat that could almost burn me just by looking at it.
(With this sword, even if I apply my black flames, it shouldn’t break.)
“Do you like it?”
“Yes, I really do.”
“I’m glad to hear that. Is there anything else you want?”
“Not really, not at the moment.”
“Understood. Then, please do stop by again when you’re in this town. You’ll always be welcome here.”
“Thank you very much.”
After enjoying lunch courtesy of Zoido, we exchanged our goodbyes and left the mansion.
Our next stop was the Adventurers’ Guild. As I approached Reina, who had assisted us on the first day, she quickly ushered us to Rene’s office.
“Hey! You finally made it!”
“Did we keep you waiting?”
“Not at all. I called for you, after all. Now, please, take a seat.”
After we sat on the sofa in the middle of the room, Rene settled onto the sofa across from us.
“Now then, I’d like to hear more about the incident regarding the Forest King.”
“Understood.”
I recounted the events in the same manner I had explained to Zoido, starting from when we parted ways before the barrier.
I described how we ran into Zoido’s group on our way to the Forest King, our actual battle, and also mentioned Fiera’s encounter with another creature.
Rene listened, taking a breath and closing her eyes.
“…I understand. It was Eir and Fiera you mentioned, right? I’m thinking of promoting you both to S-rank. What do you say?”
“Is that really alright?”
While we indeed qualified for the promotion, we hadn’t formally demonstrated our ability by defeating an S-rank monster or gone through an interview.
So, I asked if it really was okay to be promoted to S-rank.
“It’s fine. The strength you demonstrated against the Forest King was on par or even surpassing that of an S-rank or possibly even SS-rank monster.
If you could defeat that, then your capabilities are unquestionable, and I witnessed how the two of you dispatched nearly a thousand monsters by yourselves.
Plus, while you seem a bit intense in combat, you’re quite polite and seem to have a good character otherwise.”
Her comment about being intense in battle likely referred to my saying I didn’t mind dying in battle.
Of course, no ordinary person would desire death, and it’s natural to question someone’s character if they claimed not to want to live.
“So, what’s your decision? Would you like to rank up?”
“Yes, please.”
“Understood. Before you leave, hand your guild cards to Reina at the reception. I’ve informed her to facilitate your rank-up process, so just leave the rest to her. That’s all for now. Now go home and rest.”
“Thank you.”
After expressing my gratitude to Rene, I handed my guild cards to Reina for the rank-up process, then sat nearby, waiting to be called.
“Hey, isn’t that Eir?”
Just then, Rick and his three companions from the King Trent incident entered as the guild doors opened.
“What brings you here today, Eir?”
“Ah, I’m planning to leave this town tomorrow, so I wanted to discuss the matter of the Forest King with the Guild Master before heading out.”
“I see. If you managed to defeat the Forest King, then it’s definitely important to discuss it.”
“Speaking of Rick… your…”
As I turned my gaze to Rick’s right arm, I noticed it was missing, bandaged tightly around the elbow.
“Oh, this? I had a slip-up during the monster rampage and got attacked by a monster.”
Though Rick chuckled to ease my worry, his eyes were red from crying, and he looked a bit haggard.
(Understandably so. A swordsman without their dominant arm is practically rendered useless.)
Fall, Sonya, and Mail also wore somber expressions, unsure of what to say.
(Sigh. This can’t be helped.)
“Everyone, follow me for a moment.”
“W-wait, where to…?”
I took hold of Rick’s remaining left arm and asked Reina to lend us an empty room.
“What’s going on, Eir?”
“Listen, what I’m about to do, don’t tell anyone I did it. It’s a hassle.”
“What are you—”
“Complete Recovery.”
As I cast the light magic Complete Recovery, Rick’s lost arm regenerated, returning to him as if nothing had happened.
“No way…”
“Incredible…”
Until now, I had used this magic normally, but not many could actually use Complete Recovery to heal lost limbs.
This was because restoring a lost body part required an enormous amount of magic power, as well as precise magical control and understanding of the human body to make the regeneration seamless.
Thus, those capable of such healing arts were highly valued in every country and would be heavily scrutinized if discovered.
That said, in high-ranking dungeons, rare items could sometimes be obtained that could heal lost limbs, so it wasn’t impossible for high-ranked adventurers to possess one for emergencies.
“You know what to do. Don’t tell anyone about this, right?”
“Of course. Thank you so much!”
Rick, full of gratitude, wiped away tears as he caressed his arm joyfully.
“Eir! Thank you so much! But we don’t have any money that matches the value of having Rick’s arm healed…”
“It’s fine. Rick provided me with valuable information, and this is just a thank you. Now, let’s head back.”
I said that and pulled an empty vial from my magic bag, holding it up for visibility as we exited.
This vial served as camouflage to suggest that I had used a valuable item on Rick, ensuring we wouldn’t be attacked for possessing it.
Once we returned to the reception area, I received our updated guild cards after the procedures were completed and bid farewell to Rick and the others.
“Well then, everyone.”
“See you later!”
“Ah! Eir! Fiera! Thank you so much! Hopefully, we’ll meet again someday!”
“See you!”
“Let’s drink together next time!”
“Take care!”
After parting ways with Rick and the others, we spent our final night in the inn and left the town early the next morning.
Our next destination was the southern town, the coastal city of Minerva. As I bolted off with Fiera, I imagined what kind of experiences awaited us there.
