The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Chapter 46: The Elf Who Fell on the Road

About a week had passed since we left the Adonia Territory, and we were three days away from arriving at the coastal city of Minerva when we spotted a girl lying in the middle of the road, causing us to halt.

“What should we do about that?”
“Ignore her.”
“Right? It feels like trouble is brewing.”
We were about to ignore the girl and pass by when she suddenly lifted her face and called out loudly.
“Wait! Please don’t ignore me, help me!”

“……”
Even so, we tried to walk past her, but the girl rolled over on the ground, moving closer to me, and grabbed my leg with impressive strength, refusing to let go.
“Hey. Let go.”
“Not a chance! If I let go, you’ll just walk away! Then you won’t help me!”

As I thought about how bothersome this was, I glanced down, and there was an elf girl who you’d think was a stunning beauty.
(This girl… Where have I seen her before…?)
As I contemplated this, I was suddenly nudged lightly in the side by Fiera.
“Hey! What are you staring at?”
“Too much. Let go of the elf.”
“O-Okay…”
As Fiera lowered her voice and glared, the elf girl trembled and finally let go of my ankle.

Normally, I’d just leave her there, but I couldn’t shake my curiosity about this elf, so I crouched in front of her to hear her out.
“So? What are you doing here?”
“Excuse me! Isn’t calling a girl you just met ‘you’ a bit rude? My name is Shuvina, you know?”
(Shuvina? I definitely know her from somewhere…)
Hearing her name nagged at my memory, making it feel like I’d met her before.
“…I see. So, why were you lying here?”
“Uh, well… sigh fine. To be honest, I’m…”

Shuvina took a breath, giving us a serious look.
“I’m about to starve to death.”
“How stupid. Let’s go, Fiera.”
“Yeah.”
“Wait!!!”
The reason was just too ridiculous to entertain, and we were about to leave, but Shuvina gripped our ankles tightly, not letting go.

I thought we’d never move forward like this, so I sighed and reluctantly pulled out some food from my magic bag.
“Wow! Thank you!”
Shuvina exclaimed, and as I handed her the food, she quickly devoured it, creating a mountain of plates in front of her.
(How much is she eating?)
Just as I was taken aback by her voracious appetite, she finally paused, looking satisfied.
“Phew. Thank you. You saved me.”
“Sure.”
As I observed her sitting up properly, I noticed her long blonde hair that turned a light green at the tips, her emerald green eyes shining beautifully, and those long elf ears typical of her race.

She might be as beautiful as Fiera, but something about her felt familiar, diverting my attention from her looks.
“Hey. Have we met somewhere before?”
“Huh? That’s impossible. What are you trying to flirt with me or something?”
As Shuvina said that, Fiera glared at her from behind, but I ignored it and kept observing Shuvina.
“…Oh.”
(I remembered! She’s that elf who sometimes hung out with the protagonist.)
Shuvina. She was an elf attending the Suzette Imperial Academy and occasionally teamed up with the protagonist back in my past life.

Though she hadn’t directly been involved in my death, she had worked alongside the protagonist during incidents when I had monsters attacking the kingdom.
I recalled that there was a past where the demon race wielded monsters to annihilate the elf kingdom, which fueled Shuvina’s strong desire for revenge against them.
At that time, she had given off a frosty and detached vibe, a woman solely focused on revenge.
(But this Shuvina in front of me couldn’t be further from that—she comes off as a total clutz.)

Then again, maybe she had always been this way, and it was her desire for vengeance that had changed her. Just as I reached that conclusion, I noticed Shuvina blushing slightly and fidgeting.
“What’s with you?”
“I-I feel like you’re staring too much. It’s embarrassing!”
“Oh, sorry about that.”
A normal guy might think she was cute with that response, but I had lost that kind of sensitivity long ago, so I stood up and put some distance between us.
“Alright. Time to move on, Fiera.”
“Got it.”
With my curiosity satisfied, I stored the now-empty plates in my magic bag and prepared to leave.
“Wait a third time!”
Shuvina exclaimed, grabbing my robe, using some kind of body enhancement to not budge at all.
“What is with you? How annoying.”
I was definitely irritated, glaring at Shuvina with an unusual fierceness.
“El. Calm down. Your killing intent is leaking.”
Fiera lightly gripped my hand, urging me to calm down.
I took a deep breath, suppressed my killing intent, and glared again.
“So, what do you want?”
“W-Wait! You guys are heading to the coastal city of Minerva, right? I-I want to tag along… but…”
“Huh? Why?”
Shuvina appeared frightened, shaking slightly from my glare while asking if she could join us.
However, I had no reason or value in taking her along, so I found myself asking again in confusion.
“I just came out from my hometown, and I don’t know much about the outside world. I want to go to the coastal city, but I have no idea where to go…”
It’s true that elves generally never leave their own country and thus don’t have a lot of outside world knowledge.

But for me, it didn’t matter if she got lost or was troubled; it wasn’t a reason to allow her to tag along.
“El. Let’s take her along.”
Then, Fiera, who had been quietly observing from the side, unexpectedly suggested that we bring Shuvina with us, extending a hand to the girl still sitting on the ground.
“Why?”
“I understand what it feels like to leave your home for the first time and getting lost or in trouble. I just want to help her a bit.”
Indeed, Fiera herself had come alone from her country to the Duke’s territory, and seeing a girl around her age in trouble likely urged her to help.
“Fine. Just until we get to the city.”
“Thank you!”
At first, I thought about leaving the handling of Shuvina to Fiera and going ahead, but it seemed too much trouble to meet up later, so in the end, the three of us, now including Shuvina, headed towards the coastal city of Minerva.
