The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Chapter 49: Underwater Dwelling

“Are you okay, Fiera?”

“Mm. I’m… not okay. Please don’t talk to me right now…”

After a bit of commotion with Rigul and the others, we bought the boarding tickets for the A Rank Dungeon ‘Underwater Dwelling’ and successfully boarded the ship.

At first, Fiera and I were a bit excited since it was our first time on a ship, but Fiera quickly succumbed to seasickness and went down for the count.

As I mentioned before, beastfolk have exceptionally keen senses, so it was no surprise that she got seasick from even the slightest sway of the ship.

I cast a recovery spell to alleviate her status condition, but just a few minutes after it wore off, she got sick again, so it was practically pointless.

Therefore, I called over a crew member to inform them of the situation, and they kindly guided us to an empty room so Fiera could rest.

“I’m sorry, El. I’m causing trouble…”

Fiera, weakened mentally from her seasickness, kept apologizing to me.

“You don’t need to worry about it. I didn’t realize you might get seasick either. I’ll make sure to buy some medicine next time.”

I recalled that there was a potion for seasickness sold near the port, and I decided to purchase it before our next voyage.

“Thank you…”

“Just rest up. It’s fine.”

“Mm.”

As I said that, I cast a sleep spell on her, and she immediately fell into a deep sleep.

With nothing to do, I closed my eyes and directed my awareness inward to check my current magic power levels.

(Hmm. It’s increased quite a bit.)

Since leaving the duke’s territory, I had been practicing my magic control and magic depletion, and it had grown even more than when I fought the dragon in the Icy Fake dungeon.

(At this rate, maybe I can use space-time magic in a few months?)

My total magic power had finally increased enough to consider using space-time magic, but it was still at the very limit of viability. Long-term use in practical situations, let alone daily life, would be challenging.

(While teleportation magic would be convenient, it’s among the more difficult types of space-time magic, and the magic consumption is insane. Best I can aim for is a small storage magic and short-range teleportation.)

Even with that, the breadth of combat would expand considerably, so I’d do well to keep gradually increasing my magic power.

Afterward, I meditated, circulating my magic within me until the ship’s announcement came through.

“Thank you for boarding today. This ship will now be submerging towards the A Rank Dungeon, Underwater Dwelling. For those wishing to enjoy the view underwater, please come to the deck.”

Thinking it would be a shame not to see the scenery, I stood up from my chair but started to consider what to do about Fiera.

(Should I at least let her know?)

I approached sleeping Fiera and gently shook her shoulder.

“Fiera, wake up.”

“Mm. …Have we arrived?”

“No. But it seems like the ship is about to submerge, so I was thinking of going to see the view. What about you?”

“…I’ll go.”

Saying that, Fiera reluctantly got out of bed, her expression much calmer than before her nap.

(It seems the rest helped a bit.)

Walking slowly to accommodate her slight dizziness, we stepped out onto the deck and were left speechless by the stunning view.

“Wow, it’s amazing.”

“Mm. Amazing…”

The ship, covered by a barrier magic, slowly descended towards the seabed via gravity magic, transforming the surrounding scenery from bright blue, bathed in sunlight, to a dark blue, devoid of light.

Various kinds of fish swam around us, creating a scene truly worthy of the word breathtaking.

After about 30 minutes of enjoying the view, we noticed lights appearing down at the seabed.

“Is that it?”

That was the entrance to the A Rank Dungeon, ‘Underwater Dwelling,’ with a barrier magic that seemed to be emitting light.

“We will soon arrive at the Underwater Dwelling. Please ensure you haven’t forgotten anything before disembarking.”

As the ship’s announcement came in, it slowly drew closer to the dungeon, and when it aligned next to the barrier, a path of light appeared from the side of the ship to the barrier.

“Thank you for your patience. We have now arrived at the A Rank Dungeon, ‘Underwater Dwelling.’

All of us crew members wish you a safe journey. Please take care as you head out.”

Confirming we hadn’t left anything behind, we walked through the path of light into the barrier.

Inside was a bustling market with many stalls, resembling a town, filled with adventurers.

“First, I want to find an inn, but with this many people, there might not be any vacancies left.”

“Mm. What should we do?”

“What should we do? I didn’t think about anything.”

I hadn’t anticipated there would be this many people, so the possibility of not finding a place to stay hadn’t crossed my mind at all.

“Let’s at least try to check some inns, even if it’s a long shot.”

“Understood.”

Afterward, Fiera and I went around to four different inns, but each one was fully booked, leaving us in despair.

(If we can’t find a place to stay, we might consider going back to Minerva, but there’s no guarantee we’d find a room next time either.

Plus, it would be a shame to come all this way and leave without even entering the dungeon… What should we do?)

As we pondered our next move, we stumbled upon a building set a little away from the crowded street with barely anyone around.

“Is this… an inn?”

“I don’t know.”

What lay before us was a building with a different architectural style from the others, giving off a mansion-like vibe.

The materials used were the same wood as the other inns, but unlike the two or three-story inns, this one was only a single story but quite wide.

It had a very grand design, but perhaps because few people were trying to stay, there weren’t many around.

“Shall we give it a try?”

“Mm.”

Entering the mansion-like inn, a man spotted us and approached with a smile.

“Welcome! Are you here to stay?”

“Yes. Do you have any rooms available?”

“Oh, we do have some. Would you prefer to share a room or have separate ones?”

“Two rooms, please.”

“Sure thing. Come this way to complete the paperwork. Oh, please take off your shoes here and leave them on that rack.”

Following the man’s instructions, we took off our shoes and placed them on the rack beside us.

(It feels a bit strange.)

Since I’m used to wearing shoes indoors, I rarely get to walk around barefoot, so this felt quite unusual.

Looking around the interior, the wooden pillars and potted plants were beautiful, creating a calming atmosphere.

(It’s such a nice place, yet there aren’t many people here.)

“Are you curious about the lack of people?”

Perhaps noticing my bewilderment as he completed our check-in, the man asked with a smile.

“Yes. It’s such a wonderful place, but I’m surprised there aren’t more guests.”

“Ha ha. That’s very flattering. But it’s not that complicated. This place is a ryokan, and as you can see, the structure is different from other inns.

So, our guests tend to hesitate or shy away from staying in a ryokan, which is unfamiliar to them.

However, everyone who stays here ends up liking it and comes back. This place is for those kinds of folks.”

Indeed, as the man said, even adventurers wouldn’t know how to approach unfamiliar facilities or places, so they’d be hesitant to step inside.

And if they make a mistake, it could hinder their subsequent dungeon explorations, making their hesitation understandable.

“Well then, let me show you to your rooms. Please follow me.”

Once the paperwork was finished, the man said that and walked ahead to lead us to our rooms.

“Here we are. I’ve placed you in adjacent rooms. Should I bring dinner to one of your rooms?”

“In that case, please bring it to my room.”

“Understood. It’ll be served around 6 PM, so until then, feel free to relax in your rooms. Also, there is a bath down the hallway, so feel free to use it whenever you like.”

With that, the man turned and walked back towards the entrance.

After parting ways at the room’s entrance, we each entered our assigned rooms, which were simply furnished with a window, a table, and something like cushions, with a view of the outside.

“It’s a nice room.”

The lightly woven green grass mat on the floor emitted a pleasant fragrance, making it a wonderfully calming space.

I placed my robe and belongings in the corner, took a little rest, and then headed straight for the bath.
