Chapter 50
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Chapter 50: Strategy Start
The bathroom was quite spacious, equipped with multiple washing stations suggesting it could accommodate several people.
As I washed my body and sank into the bathtub, the pleasantness of finally having a wide bath after so long made me feel completely relaxed.
(The bath at the inn in Minerva wasn’t very big, after all.)
After spending a little longer than usual soaking, I returned to my room feeling refreshed.
Upon entering, I noticed some clothes that hadn’t been there before, along with a note explaining how to wear them and a message inviting me to use them if I wanted.
“Huh. So this is called a yukata.”
Deciding to give it a try, I struggled with the obi, unable to tie it properly, leaving my chest exposed.
“Ugh, whatever. This is too much hassle.”
After trying a few times and giving up, I sat on the floor, pulled a book from my bag, and passed the time until dinner.
After reading for a bit, the clock tower chimed six o’clock, signaling dinner time.
This town featured a central clock tower, chiming every three hours to announce the time.
“Ah, it must be about time for dinner,” I thought, closing the book just as Fiera knocked and entered.
“Fiera! Did you get some rest?”
She entered wearing a yukata like mine, and even though it was a different outfit, it suited her very well.
Additionally, with her hair styled to match the yukata, her neck, usually hidden, was now visible, giving her an alluring aura that could easily captivate any other guy who saw her.
(But, honestly, it’s none of my business.)
Haven’t seen her since we parted in front of my room, I asked how she had been, but Fiera froze, staring at me without a word.
“Fiera? What’s wrong?”
“El…”
When I called out to her again, Fiera finally snapped out of it, seriously calling my name.
“What is it?”
“Your front. Close it properly.”
“My front?”
“Your yukata’s front. It’s open, so close it properly.”
“Oh, this? I’ve tried so many times, and it never works, so I gave up.”
“Haah…”
With a rare look of exasperation, Fiera slowly approached me, reached for my obi, untied it, and then re-tied it snugly.
“Are you used to this?”
“I just had the inn staff help me with it… This should be good.”
“Whoa~”
Now that the obi was tied more firmly, my chest was much better concealed.
“Thanks.”
“It’s fine. It’s for your sake, too.”
I didn’t quite understand what she meant, but I thanked her and took a seat at the table just as the inn staff came in with our meals.
They set the dishes down and explained them before bowing and leaving the room.
“Well then, let’s eat.”
“Yeah.”
According to the explanation, today’s dish was a hot pot, filled with various ingredients like fish and vegetables.
Everything tasted incredibly delicious, and we got so caught up in eating that we forgot to chat.
“Ahh, that was delicious.”
“That was the best.”
“Totally. This is a dish I want to spread throughout the Duke’s territory. Oh, speaking of which, about tomorrow, I’m thinking we should head into the dungeon around when the clock chimes at nine. How does that sound?”
“No problem.”
“Okay! Then once you’re ready, I’ll come by your room. So, get ready by then.”
“Got it.”
After we planned for tomorrow, Fiera went back to her room while I slipped back into the bath before heading to bed.
The next day, thanks to going to bed early, I managed to wake up much sooner than usual.
I quickly finished getting ready and headed out of my room to the one next door.
After knocking on the door and waiting a moment, Fiera, fully equipped, stepped out of her room.
“Good morning!”
“Ah, good morning.”
After exchanging light greetings, we made our way to the inn’s entrance to head to the dungeon.
There, the man who had shown us around yesterday was already hard at work.
“Oh! Are you heading to the dungeon now?”
“Yes!”
“I see. If so, please wait outside for a bit.”
He said that and walked over to the reception, coming back with two stones in hand.
Then, rubbing the stones together, he made a clattering sound directed at our backs, closing his eyes for a moment in prayer.
“What was that?”
“That’s a ritual called ‘Kirishibi.’ It’s something we do back in my homeland for those heading into battle, to pray for their safety and ward off misfortune. I can only pray for your safe return since you’re staying here, so I want to do whatever I can.”
“That’s wonderful. Thank you very much.”
Receiving his warm send-off, we promised to return safely and steeled ourselves before heading into the dungeon.
We bought some breakfast along the way but found ourselves unable to enter right away.
The entrance was crowded with adventurers, some waiting in line to get in.
“It’s wide inside, but the entrance isn’t so much, huh?”
“Yeah. It’s to avoid trouble. Can’t be helped.”
As Fiera said, overcrowding adventurers would lead to fights over monsters and other issues, so it was understandable.
After waiting for about twenty minutes, we finally got to go in and immediately started exploring the dungeon.
“It’s not as dark as I expected.”
“The walls are glowing a bit.”
“Wow, they really are. What makes them glow?”
After entering the dungeon and walking a bit, we quickly reached a large area branching out into several paths.
It wasn’t as dark as I had thought, and the walls, as Fiera pointed out, were glowing for some reason, creating a relatively bright environment.
“Well then, let’s take a look around first.”
“Understood.”
We chose a random path from the options and proceeded straight down it.
Typically, when faced with multiple twisting routes, one should map out their path, but I had confidence in my memory, so I mentally recorded our route.
“El. Monsters are coming.”
“Monsters?”
Even though I had been casting a 50-meter radius detection spell centered on myself since entering the dungeon, I had detected no monster responses.
(What’s going on?)
While I stayed alert, suddenly, a needle-like water projectile shot at me from the side.
“Whoa!”
I dodged the projectile and turned to see a fish made of water swimming in the air.
“Did it just appear out of nowhere?”
“Yeah. I think it formed its body using gathered water, which is why it didn’t trigger your detection.”
“I see.”
As Fiera explained, this monster, made of water, formed its shape from moisture in the air and magical energy, explaining its sudden appearance without triggering my detection spells.
“This is troublesome.”
Using the flame sword given to me by Zoido, I sliced through the floating monster, which evaporated into steam, leaving only a magic stone behind.
“Fiera, I’m sorry, but could you take charge of detection for a bit? My spell doesn’t seem very useful here.”
“Leave it to me.”
With Fiera’s beastfolk instincts, it seems she could sense the monsters here, so we switched our roles and continued deeper into the dungeon.
