Chapter 54
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Chapter 54: The Hero Arrives Late
We were heading to the hidden room, being mindful of our speed so the nameless men following us wouldn’t lose track, when we finally arrived at our destination.
“Fiera, hold on for a second.”
I said this loudly on purpose, as if something was up, causing the men who heard our voices to stop moving.
Then, I touched the wall leading to the hidden room and poured in my magic power, causing a door to suddenly appear on the wall.
“This is the hidden room.”
“Hmm, there seems to be treasure inside.”
Even though Fiera understood what kind of room this was, she stimulated the men with the word ‘treasure.’
“Whoa! I can’t believe we’d find something like this here!”
The foolish and simple-minded men were lured in by the word ‘treasure’ and approached us while pretending it was a coincidence.
“What’s this? We found it first!”
“Haha! That’s wrong! We were here first! We were planning to take a break before coming here!”
“That’s right! Besides, this is called a Monster House, and it’s a dangerous place, isn’t it? You guys shouldn’t even think about challenging it—just turn back!”
Though they had been battered by their journey up to the fifteenth floor, for some reason, they seemed confident that they could clear this Monster House and boldly told us to leave.
“…I see. So this is the rumored Monster House. It does seem quite tough for us to clear. Well, if that’s the case, go ahead.”
I said this and stepped aside from the door, with Fiera doing the same, allowing them through.
“Thanks! When we clear it, I’ll let you know what was inside!”
As the men waved goodbye and passed us, I snapped my fingers lightly and quietly waved them off.
~side Rigul~
Rigul and the others were granted permission by Lewis and the others to challenge the Monster House, and they entered the room without hesitation.
“We’ve gotten stronger recently! This Monster House will be a piece of cake!”
“Yeah. We managed to clear levels we couldn’t before, and I feel like my magic power has increased too.”
“My bow has gotten stronger too!”
“Me too! I’ve gotten better at noticing enemy movements and can move faster now!”
After yesterday’s boss battle, Rigul and his party felt they had improved.
In fact, they had just been promoted to A Rank and had tried challenging the dungeon several times, but had not managed to defeat the boss on the tenth floor.
However, two days ago, when they confronted the boss, they were surprisingly able to deal damage despite the crab’s shell being almost impenetrable before.
And after finally using all the items they had brought, they defeated it and managed to reach the fifteenth floor, struggling against sirens and mermen along the way.
Feeling cocky, they took the right to challenge the Monster House from Lewis’ group and entered the room without any plans or strategies.
As Ridgule and the others stepped into the room, the door closed behind them, and the light began to illuminate slowly.
The first thing that appeared was five sirens, all casting debuffs simultaneously on Rigul’s four party members.
“Ugh, they’re so beautiful…”
Having made no preparations, Rigul fell under the sirens’ charm, gazing at them with heated eyes.
“Get a grip!”
Merida hit Rigul on the head with her staff, then immediately cast a spell to attack the sirens.
“Flames, explode and annihilate the enemies! ‘Flame Burst!'”
A ball of red flame shot out from the tip of Merida’s staff and flew towards the sirens, exploding as it neared them.
“I took out five of them!”
Typically, when facing a horde of sirens and mermen, Merida’s spell would have been enough to wipe them all out.
However…
“…No way. Why are they still alive?”
After the explosion died down, Rigul saw that three sirens were unscathed, and two had only minor burns, not having eliminated any.
“What are you doing? Get out of the way, let me handle this. …Bestow the power of water upon my arrow. ‘Water Arrow’!”
Helen nocked her arrow, imbued it with water magic, and sent it flying toward the sirens.
However, it was clearly moving slower than before, bouncing harmlessly off the sirens that had once been easy targets.
“Huh…?”
Caught off guard by the failure of her once-reliable shot, Helen stood dazed, unable to accept what had just happened.
“What’s everyone doing? Enough playing around! I’ll take care of this! Enhance my body! ‘Body Strengthening!'”
Gizel, exasperated by her teammates’ lethargy, cast her body enhancement, pulled out her dagger, and charged at the sirens.
(Huh, why does it feel like I’m moving slower than last time…?)
For some reason, she felt sluggish, but nonetheless rushed towards the sirens, aiming to slice at one of their necks with both daggers.
“Got it!”
Just as she was certain of her hit, Gizel inexplicably bounced off the ground a few times, finding herself lying farther away than before.
“W-what the…?”
Though her body ached all over from rolling on the ground, she managed to look towards the sirens.
To her shock, another siren was behind the one she had targeted, grinning as it stood ready to swing its tail at her.
“Could it be… did I get knocked back by that?”
Gizel, confident in her speed, felt the despair of falling behind and losing so easily to the sirens.
“Geez, how pathetic! I’ll take you down!”
Rigul shouted, brandishing the magic sword he had splurged on at the weapon shop, enhanced his strength, and charged in.
Yet, his movements were significantly sluggish, and his swing was all over the place, clearly indicating he hadn’t practiced recently.
As a result, the siren easily dodged Rigul’s attack, preparing to knock him back with its tail like it did with Gizel.
Rigul barely managed to block it with his sword, but the blade snapped at the base from the impact.
“M-My magic sword, noooo!!”
Distracted by his broken sword, Rigul was struck again by the siren, rolling across the ground.
The four of them finally began to realize that something was seriously wrong.
“This is odd. Why isn’t my sword technique working?!”
“Is my magic power lower than before?”
“My arrow’s power has diminished…”
“I’m moving so much slower!”
Realizing that they were nothing like how they had been just moments ago, the sirens closed in on each of them, cutting off any chance to think.
“W-Wait! We’re getting out of here! So please, help us!”
Rigul begged the siren towering over him as fear of death set in, but she had no intention of letting that happen, and started pummeling him with swipes and tail whips.
The rest of the party fared the same way, all getting beaten up by the sirens until they were rendered immobile and gathered in the room’s center.
“Help… me…”
“Someone… help…”
“It’s scary…”
“I don’t want to die…”
Surrounding the gathered Rigul and friends, the sirens looked down at them, grinning, as they licked their lips with their long tongues.
Despite their beautiful appearance, sirens were terrifying creatures that dragged humans into the sea to devour them.
The sirens in the dungeon were no exception; they were eagerly anticipating a long-awaited meal.
As Rigul and the others felt the terror of death from the sirens, the closed door suddenly swung open, revealing two people—a man and a woman—stepping inside.
“Hey there! The hero has come to save the day!”
The man, calling himself a hero, wore a grin that sent chills down everyone’s spine as he slowly walked in.
