Chapter 27: Bleach Arc - 26
Khan was expecting Urahara to show up but was still annoyed by the fact Urahara had caught him off guard. Khan was relieved by the fact that Urahara wasted the element of surprise but was still on guard. Urahara continued saying, "Don't think I didn't catch the way you worded your deal with Ichigo. You omitted the fact that Orihime doesn't want to head back."
Khan just slightly tilted his head and clicked his tongue. Urahara then said, "You are too dangerous to be left alone." Urahara began chanting, and Khan knew that Urahara was trying to activate the seal.
Khan, not wanting to tempt fate, rapidly ejected Kenpachi, Byakuya, and Renji from his shadow into the air. The sudden appearance of those three achieved two results. The first was that it broke his focus and interrupted his chant. The second was that it caused Urahara for a brief moment to lose sight of Khan. Their bodies were close enough together that the resulting shadow was big enough that could slip into the Shadow Nexus.
Once inside, Khan began adjusting his clothes, and that was he noticed his outfit had changed as well. Before, his outfit was reminiscent of a proper rat pack suit, but now it was similar to something he wore in Night City. Heavy overcoat, vest with no undershirt, suit pants, and weighted boots. While heading towards the desired portal, Khan thought, 'I hope Urahara enjoyed my little act.'
Khan recognized Urahara still had that remote Gigia he showed off in front of Yammy before. Khan knew Urahara would have never gotten that close without it, and that it was a means to obtain a sample of the skill he just used on Aizen. Urahara would have a chance to study it soon enough, although not in the way he would've liked. Khan entered the portal leading to the Fake Karakura Town temporary headquarters.
As Khan entered, he saw everyone was accounted for, his followers and the newly captured prisoners. His followers gave a swift salute, and Harribel said, "Sir! Everything has gone as you expected, Stark and Yammy were slain while you were away, and we've acquired everyone on your list, as you can see." Khan stretched his shadow, and the unconscious prisoners disappeared into it. While they were under the effect of a powerful sedative, Khan thought to err on the side of caution, then he asked, "What are the remaining Soul Reapers doing right now?" Harribel said, "They're currently treating the wounded and trying to find their missing comrades."
Khan then commented, saying, "So they're looking for us, we will be leaving through the Garganta, I give two minutes at most before Urahara realizes that I'm no longer in the Soul Society." With that said, he opened a Garganta, and everyone went inside.
When they were at the halfway point, Khan activated the Kekkai Barrier. Energy started spreading from a single point, and almost in an instant, it blocked off the entire Garganta. Khan adjusted it to block anyone whose power was greater than a Menos Grande.
Once on the other side, Khan placed his latest additions in separate cells. All but Tatsuki were unconscious, Khan stood for a moment thinking about how best to deal with Tatsuki. When he remembered there were still a few more in the Soul Society to collect that nobody important would notice.
Khan stepped into the Shadow Nexus after a few minutes and found the entrance to the Quincy stronghold. What Khan saw made him feel very lucky. Yhwach was scolding his subordinates while they were all in his throne room. Khan thought this was the perfect opportunity to test Marionette Master.
...
Yhwach was not happy, the Soul Society was in shambles, and while the tools they were developing were not ready yet, with them sealed inside their hidden fortress, it wouldn't matter. Even if they were done the seal that his "elite" followers said would be dealt with, not only was it still in effect, they couldn't get in contact with any of the others on the outside. This means they will run out of research material long before the project will be done.
This was just the latest failure. The first is that an infiltrator managed to sneak into his chamber and escape without anyone noticing. Yhwach was about to decide on which of his followers to make an example of when suddenly he began coughing up blood. Instead of showing concern, his subordinates started leaving the room one by one.
Then there were only three of his subordinates left, they stood there with blank looks on their faces. Yhwach took note of the three that stayed behind. There was "P-The Power" (Meninas McAllon), "T-The Thunderbolt" (Candice Catnipp), and "E-The Explode" (Bambietta Basterbine). Suddenly a man appeared, Yhwach thought that he seemed familiar but didn't know why.
The man stood in front of Meninas, he looked slightly to her left and then got a disappointed look. Meninas disappeared and the man repeated those actions with both Candice and Bambietta. Suddenly the rumblings of battle could be heard, Yhwach desperately wanted to shout and demand answers but nothing came from his throat. The man looked at Yhwach as if to only now acknowledge his existence.
The man said, "I'm sure you had all kinds of things to say about this moment, but honestly I don't care your subordinates are currently fighting a last-man-standing fight to the death. I have given one of them a minor advantage, and if she wins I'll have another one for my collection, if not then I'll take my disappointment out on the winner."
The man with a single strike cut Yhwach in half. As Yhwach's vision began fading he wondered who that man was.
...
Khan stood over Yhwach corpse observing what was happening. He has seen what Nurgle's Twisted Touch has done to the living but was curious about its effects on the dead. He could sense the virus was still active in Yhwach but was no longer progressing. It seems the corpse was infectious, so if you mishandled the body you would undergo the same process but only slower.
Khan gave a small chuckle as it would be very useful information down the road. For now, he simply waited for the free-for-all he started to finish. Ten minutes later all the rumbling stopped. After a few minutes, Khan decided to check the damage.
The destruction was complete, with no survivors everyone had received a fatal injury from somebody else, insuring no one walked away. Disappointed by these events but not surprised. Khan began making his way back to his fortress to supervise its renovation. Ichigo would be losing his power in a month or so and then Khan only had to wait, once the Xcution group makes its move he'll be ready to finish this and move on.
Back at Las Noches, Khan placed the unconscious Quincy into separate cells. Most of his new toys were fast asleep and the Soul Reapers among them were ready for "harvest" but the alarm went off telling him that Aero was ready to wake up.
Khan made his way to his workshop, he arrived just in time to see the pod opening and letting the newly reformed Aero Cifer out. Aero began falling and Khan caught her, she asked, "What's going on? Where am I?" Khan keeping his poker face said, "Aero you are okay now, can you tell me what is the last you remember?"
Aero got a confused look for a moment then looked down at her body, she felt her body trying to confirm that it was real, then she asked, "Am I really Aero and that part of my life wasn't a dream? Who's Ulquiorra, why do I have the memories of two lives?" Khan responded by saying, "You were heavily injured, the healing process may have caused you to experience an alternate life, it should fade from your mind in time."
Aero looked at Khan trying to swallow the information she just received, then meekly began nodding her head in acknowledgment. After some more conversations, Khan began to subtly lead Aero back to his room. All the while whispering sweet nothings into her ear, like how worried he was for her safety or how relieved that she is in perfect health. Khan was curious since he was going for a more vigorous route in corruption. As he navigated her into his room Khan thought, 'No matter how this turns out this is going to be fun.'
