The Warlord System

Chapter 66: Marvel Arc -10/Omniverse

It was a grand hall. Khan stood in front of a pedestal; the Space Stone sat in a box on top of it. From the moment he took the Time Stone he was on a timer. Granted, it was a whole year. However, from the moment the Sanctum fell to the death of Thor, three months had passed.

Admittedly, the heroes of earth fell fast. A product of being manipulated from the shadows. If they had seen him coming, it could've gone much worse for him. Or at the very least they could've put up more of a united front.

The U.N. was full of old fossils for ambassadors. Their respective countries had obviously sent capable but totally expendable individuals, and to hide that they sent rather prominent heroes as a part of the protection detail. In the end the only valuable individuals worth taking were the defenders.

The Baxter Building had proven more of a challenge. Between the Fantastic Four and the Shield agents, they were much more prepared for close quarters combat. However, the Zerg really shine when it comes to overwhelming their opponents with sheer numbers.

Those at Central Park held out a little better. Though by allowing Robbie to make a few successful trips, they had instinctively let down their guard. Understandable he supposed, they got used to a routine and didn't expect the intensity to go up so much.

Still, the fight he had with Thor had proven to be the real challenge he hoped for. The reward for beating him in an honest fight was impressive.

[Congratulations! You defeated Thor, God of Thunder and War. As such you have be awarded the following:

The Bifrost, a device that will instantly teleport from your location to your command ship or from your command ship to your previous location.

Charisma of the King, (Passive) Your followers will be more comfortable following you into more hopeless or hellish situations. Because they believe you will be victorious in the end.

Duel of Honor, (Passive) When choosing to fight someone in a one-on-one duel, your opponent will not be able to cheat as long as you don't cheat in a manner that can be proven.]

Khan, deciding he had stayed there long enough he reached in and grabbed the stone. The message appeared and congratulated him for completing the set and told him that he and his spoils and allies will be returned to his new Omniverse immediately. There was almost no time to react to the blinding white light signaling the end of the conquest.

...

Callisto, a woman who mutation left her with scars on her body. One such scar robbed her of an eye. While there were those who said she was still beautiful, she didn't believe them. Now she was standing on the island of Genosha. A supposed refuge for mutants, especially those who were unfortunate in having their mutations affect their bodies.

When Dovak first appeared she had been suspicious, of course she was like that for all outsiders. He needed them out of the sewers, their shelter. Callisto had been unwilling to agree to his terms. That was when she learned that he could kill them whenever he liked, and he was just being polite. He then promised to move them to Genosha, but Callisto would have to pay a price for offending him.

She looked up there was land mass in the sky. Dovak kept his word and moved them to Genosha. It was exactly like they heard, a place where mutants, no matter their appearance, could walk around with no fear. She a made sure her followers were actually safe. Then she learned that Genosha was no longer on earth, of course that was obvious when you noticed the floating islands in the sky. Then she learned there was land masses below them as well. Part of her wanted to explore, but she knew she couldn't, the Morlocks were safe now and she would soon have a price to pay. She was by no means selfless, but she would face what was to come with dignity.

...

Khan was back in his throne room. Part of him wanted to kick back and enjoy his new spoils, but there were more pressing issues to attend to. The island country, Genosha had be relocated to Shell Three and had become one of the floating islands.

Although, this one was surrounded by a couple of miles worth of ocean. An elevated ridge was keeping the water from spilling out. The Morlocks had settled in nicely and as expected, Magneto had welcomed them with no fuss. He was also relieved to learn Khan was upholding their agreement. Building docks for the airships needed was no real problem on his part.

He found Callisto easily enough. Honestly, he wasn't sure the first-time which version he would meet when he first entered the Morlocks' territory. Her scars were less obvious, than they were in the comics, so he figured this version was attached to an animated show.

He decided against collecting her for now. It was clear to Khan that she was on edge about what was going to happen next. He was then happy to keep her there for a little while longer.

He visited his, "Hall of Heroes." A room holding the captured heroes, like Captain America, Iron Man, and Spider-man. Their bodies undergoing a complete transformation. Honestly, that is the easy part, rewriting their personal history without compromising the skills and experiences that make them valuable, is a slow process. There is unfortunately no clear timetable. Luckily for him, time is no issue.

He returned to the throne room and pulled up the target list. He activated Saints Row, in order to test the custom features. Instead of instantly transporting him to the target world, a separate panel appeared. It was detailed with sub-categories, some were lit up, some were not. It was clear the lit ones were the ones that could apply to the world. One category controlled physical appearances by stating the names or monikers of independent artists. One controlled the gender of named characters. Another could control the appearance of the protagonist, if it applied. So on and so forth with all kinds of possibilities.

Basically, if it was a way to alter the original world story, it could be done there. The bar at the top indicated how many changes could be made before the limit was hit. However, at the very bottom was a check box. Titled, "Chimichanga Mode" it became clear this was one of the changes Deadpool suggested instead of participating. With morbid curiosity, Khan hit the box, the bar automatically became full and locked in. For better or worse no more changes were allowed. However, there was one other panel, called, "Difficulty Modifiers."

Looking it over, he found he could make it harder or easier. He could choose to be given a device that show the history and relationships of any organizations, or he could seal his ultimate skills. With a smile, Khan hit a few buttons. Limiting how his abilities somewhat and gave himself some tools.

He thought about the world he was going to visit. He played every game the franchise released. From the clunky original to sour reboot. The first game had clunky controls and stiff movements, but an interesting story and memorable characters. The reboot had smooth gameplay, but the story made no sense, and the characters were flat and somewhat boring.

The most interesting thing was somewhere between the first time he played it and the year and a half before he tried again. They had rewritten the characters somewhat. The villains were still massive idiots, but some of the more, dumber dialog was removed and replaced with more pertinent backstory on some of them.

The indicator next the world's name told him he would be dealing with the original games and not the reboot, but Chimichanga Mode might have changed things. Worst case scenario he'd speed run it. Still a possibility even with the restrictions he placed on himself. He activated the transfer.

He looked around, the distinctive sound of shifting sand, the heat felt on his skin. All were annoying him. Right before him was an old mission. Right behind the mission appeared to be a massive lake. He looked to the shoreline on the left and there was a distinct boot shaped building. To the distant shoreline to the right, he saw a tall office building labeled King Records.

He blinked, then he noticed a massive cargo ship passing by. He immediately pulled the device he gave himself. He pulled out the map function, the name of this city was Stillwater. However, it was significantly larger than any of the cities shown in the games. It was like someone took Stillwater, Steelport, and Santo Ileso and combined them into a super city.

The map showed distinctive landmarks from all three cities. He then checked the list of organizations. The eleven criminal gangs and two major corporations made up the powers that be.

Khan immediately checked the world's goal.

[Become the true ruling power of the city]

He could only mutter, "Shit." There would be no speed running. In this world the only way to be recognized as the true power was with a criminal empire and a corporation. Khan thought back to his time in Night City. By the end he was running a criminal organization, and he did that by accident.

Currently, there are no Saints. After he secured ownership of this church. (It is a good building after all) He'll figure out all the players in town. Who can be recruited, who will have to be put down. Of course, the most important one to decide on would be the Player.
