Trapped in Paradise

Chapter 30

Chapter 30: Rain

Suddenly, the sky turned gloomy, and the scorching sunlight was blocked by dark clouds, with the wind starting to get restless.

Ning Chu instinctively looked up at the sky. The thick black clouds were gathering at a visible speed, and not a single beam of sunlight could be seen anymore.

Great~

He followed his instructor’s chant, marching in step with his classmates, almost crying inside.

Last week’s military training was all under sunny skies, tormenting him to the point of tears; but today, at last, a rainy day had arrived.

He felt a coolness on his forehead; the first drops of rain started to fall, causing the students to stir, but the instructors quickly called for order.

Even if the rain wasn’t heavy today, at least they weren’t training under the sun.

Within ten minutes, the drizzle formed a line, and military training had to temporarily stop, with students being moved under the trees to avoid the rain.

“If it rains a bit more, do you think we can skip military training?” Wang Jie was obviously the happiest one, sitting cross-legged on the ground, gazing at the cloud-filled sky, his voice filled with anticipation, “Let it rain for five days and nights! Then we won’t have to train this week!”

“Maybe it will be made up later?” Ning Chu sat on the circular flower bed under the tree, his joy seeping through his tone.

Wen Yang brought back Korean-style bread and bottled water prepared by Han Jingye for the students and plopped down beside Ning Chu. Before Ning Chu could say anything, a girl with her head down, face flushed, handed him a thermos.

“I… I made sour plum soup.”

“This……”

He didn’t even have time to refuse before the thermos was thrust into his hands.

The girl dashed away in a flurry, merging into the group of girls, who quickly surrounded her, teasing her for her bravery.

“How nice~ Sour plum soup made by a girl~”

Ning Chu felt sour, his jealousy bubbling over.

Why didn’t he transmigrate as the main character! Clearly, he was the author of the novel, so why did he end up as a little supporting character who gets overlooked by the male lead?

If he became the main character, he wouldn’t be so resistant to the plot. After all, when he wrote it, he’d always put himself in Wen Yang’s shoes.

“Want a sip?” Wen Yang grinned and offered the thermos to him.

“But it’s from a girl for you~”

The teasing tone made Wen Yang a bit awkward: “I don’t like sour plum soup.”

“Not drinking? Then give it to me.” Zhang Shaoqing suddenly popped up from nowhere, grabbing the thermos and chugging half of it, “Burp!”

Ning Chu cast him a disdainful glance.

Ugh!

The wind on the playground grew more and more chaotic, causing clothes to flap wildly. Someone’s hat was blown away, swept across the playground, and disappeared into the nearby bushes.

Unfortunately, the girls on the playground were all in military attire instead of their usual short skirts.

Ning Chu lowered his head, pressing his hand down on his hat.

The circular flower bed was already full of students, causing Wen Yang and Zhang Shaoqing on either side to be pushed closer together while Ning Chu felt his space shrink until his shoulders brushed against them.

Dang, being sandwiched between two guys right now.

He had no choice but to stand up and make room for his classmates.

Seeing he had nowhere to go, Wen Yang patted his thigh, signaling him to sit down.

“Ugh!”

Ning Chu disdainfully turned his head away.

Even if he was still a purebred man, he had zero interest in intimate physical contact with the male lead or the villain.

Not even shoulder-to-shoulder! Let alone sitting on their laps!

Rainwater dripped through the dense foliage onto the heads of those taking shelter.

The instructor pulled out his phone to ask for instructions from the higher-ups. After a moment, he announced in a booming voice: “Military training halted!”

“Whoa!”

With a cheer from the students, the instructor continued expressionlessly, “In half an hour, I will conduct a dormitory hygiene and safety check with your school leaders! Any unqualified dorms will have to run five laps tomorrow.”

“Phew~”

“Dismissed!”

The hygiene inspection had been pushed forward due to the rain.

Ning Chu recalled the messy scene in the dorm and felt a headache coming; the dorm had only been cleaned the first day of school, and no one had bothered to sweep the floor since.

But surprisingly, there didn’t seem to be any trash on the dorm floor.

“Let’s go, back to clean up!”

“Is my hairdryer considered a high-power appliance? I won’t get it confiscated, will I?”

The students around were in an uproar, heading in groups toward the dormitory building.

“Let’s go too.” Wen Yang stretched, “What about that girl? The thermos is still with me.”

“She’s over there, watching you sneakily.” Zhang Shaoqing pointed to the girl not far away and teased, “Said she wanted the thermos back, but really, she’s after your WeChat, right? Setting the stage for future night activities?”

Ning Chu jolted and instinctively turned to look at Wen Yang.

If what Zhang Shaoqing said was true, Wen Yang would lose his virginity in no time!

For some reason, seeing Wen Yang’s slightly nervous expression filled him with an inexplicable sense of guilt, as if he was betraying his roommate…

“I’ll go return it for you!” Ning Chu grabbed the thermos and jogged off.

Watching the petite figure leave, Zhang Shaoqing smirked at Wen Yang, teasing, “Look at him, so scared you’ll talk to other girls.”

“Cut it out.” Wen Yang shot him a glare, “If Ning Chu hears that, he’ll get mad and sulk.”

“Yeah, yeah~”

“Alright!” Ning Chu rushed back, a thin layer of sweat on his forehead, “I gave it back to her!”

He quickly noticed the strange look from Wen Yang and the gleeful gaze from Zhang Shaoqing.

With a somewhat stiff smile, he realized that his actions could easily be misinterpreted. He fumbled for an excuse, “I think that girl is kinda pretty… and she seems shy.”

“Puh-lease, that girl in heels is half a head taller than you!”

“No way, that’s exaggerating!”

He kicked out, and Zhang Shaoqing jumped aside dramatically.

“Hey~ missed!”

This was indeed the first time Ning Chu had seen a shy and introverted girl here! Look at the other girls; they were all fierce, ready to devour Wen Yang whole at any moment.

Such girls were usually genuinely shy, but in the small royal text, these types were super sensitive, especially in bed… A big raindrop hit his forehead, soaking him, which pulled him back from his strange thoughts.

“Wang Jie! Back to the dorm!”

The rain poured down harder. The water was now dense as it fell from the leaves; they could no longer take shelter under the tree.

Without umbrellas, the four of them ran through the rain toward the dormitory building for ten minutes.

When they reached the lobby of the dormitory building, their clothes were pretty much soaked through, and Ning Chu, having mediocre stamina, was left panting heavily from the ten-minute run, bending over to rest his knees.

“Where’s Wang Jie?”

However, when Wen Yang asked, he turned his head and saw that Wang Jie was still far away, running out of breath.

This guy had even worse stamina than him!
