Chapter 49: The first batch of resources
Early the next morning, after two long days of cleaning, the entire prison was finally cleaned with the combined efforts of dozens of people.
Of course, all the walkers were moved to a place near the prison and piled one on top of the other.
People had just heard Airon say that the corpses that were of walkers should not be moved for the time being, and some should be left on the edge of an open space, while the rest should not be burned, as long as they were stacked nothing more should be done for the time being.
Everyone did not understand the meaning of Airon's actions, but they were used to Airon's mystery, so people did not ask too many questions about this, they just followed the orders without questioning anything.
At that moment, Axel, Tiny and Oscar had already arrived at the main square, looking at the familiar but unfamiliar surroundings around them, now they could only walk back and forth with unfamiliar thoughts.
What's more, today they woke up in the morning and discovered that the original five people had become three, Thomas and Andrew were gone, leaving only two cells open, which made them very nervous.
When they came for them, they all thought that the time had come for them to be eliminated by this group of strange people, but they simply took them outside for some fresh air before putting them in their same cells again.
Airon knew that quite possibly none of these three people would betray him, but he could not influence everyone's thoughts with his own will.
If the three could easily join the team in this way, people in the community would inevitably have complaints about the situation.
Therefore, they would be under observation and be left to familiarize themselves with what is happening in this place, and then they would be made to make decisions in times of crisis to finally decide the fate of these people according to the function of their choices.
But Airon would not be in charge of that test himself, because today the first resources sent from the CDC led by Mike were due to arrive.
According to the plan, today Mike would arrive with the resources and a large number of people who were in charge of moving all the resources according to their classification.
If it is about moving people, a day trip and back is enough to pick up all the people on site, but because it involves transferring equipment, the whole transfer job will take several days!
In the last few days, Airon needs to be involved in the whole process and doesn't want to leave any mistakes in between.
Just as they were about to check a few more things, a shout came from downstairs calling out to him, "Sir, the resources are here!"
"I'll be right down!" Airon shouted from the top of a watchtower.
On the way to the prison, a large convoy of cars, trucks and tanks moved at high speed and soon stopped at the main gate of the prison.
Mike got out of a truck and looked at the large place that would now be the refuge of the entire community, this was definitely much safer to protect and would serve as a starting point for everything Airon wanted to accomplish.
The people in the surrounding area quickly came over to say hello, Rick looked at all the big trucks and was excited that everything was finally starting.
"Look at those beauties alone, no one will dare take this place away from us hahaha." Merle said as he saw the tanks and Humvees with machine guns in the convoy.
"We can definitely protect this place with that level of weaponry." T-dog said with a smile.
The big prison could fit the big trucks inside with ease, just in the big field alone they change big cars and trucks without the place feeling too cramped, that's without considering the outdoor gym and courts.
"They took a lot longer than I expected, how's the situation at the CDC?" Airon approached and asked with a slight smile.
"Sir, the place is quiet with security in the hands of Sam Valdez, I thought it would take longer to clean up this huge place." Mike said with a smile.
"We had a lot of pressure from Airon to complete the cleanup, how are the people at the CDC?" asked Rick as he approached.
"Everyone is fine, originally we were going to take more people with us but it was decided on the second coming trip, now we brought the most important resources on this trip." Mike watched as the trucks entered the interior of the prison followed by the other vehicles.
"Those tasks have to be solved..." Airon looked off into the distance and felt safer with Mike's arrival and some tanks to maintain the security of the prison.
"What we are waiting for will be their next moves, although the most important resources have been moved we just have to wait what to do next." Hearing Airon's words, Mike smiled with a slight helplessness, he didn't have a chance to fully understand Airon's plans before moving to this place.
"Well, no time to waste and we need to start getting the resources down from the trucks to start another trip." Airon wasted no time, there were many things to do and that involved the walkers who would soon be leaving the urban cities.
"I want you and the people you brought with you to start standing guard at the watchtowers around the prison, at the moment it's not necessary but it's something that should be taken into consideration from now on."
"Once you get the resources off the trucks, you have a list of the areas of the prison and what each one will be used for."
Everyone didn't wait for the time to pass, the large boxes of resources were unloaded from the trucks and transported into the prison one after another.
Security was expanded with Mike's help and people were set up in the guard towers, the interiors of the prison were sorted and they began moving all the resources inside.
...
Early this morning, half the staff had gathered in the recreation yard, today Airon was about to announce what was about to be done.
"It's been a busy few days, CDC resources started moving into the prison so there will be more underneath ahead, Mike and Shane will stay behind to secure and tidy up everything in the prison."
"We will stand down but most of you will stay behind to maintain security at the prison, we will be in contact and don't forget to communicate with Shane and Mike about your concerns."
Leaving the majority to protect the prison, Airon led the rest on their way to the CDC to make another large transport of resources.
The emptied trucks were also driven to the CDC to be filled again with the remaining resources and begin moving people.
While all this was going on, Airon thought about what to do next and how to make the best of the situation.
...
The distance between the prison and the CDC is actually not very far, but this transfer involves more than just the people and the CDC team, so Airon divided the 20 people in the team into several groups.
The prison has been occupied and cleared by his people, so all the resources Airon had gathered must be moved as soon as possible. After all, his next plans need far more resources than he has now.
First of all, the survival supplies, weapons and ammunition left by Airon at the CDC must be moved in their entirety. Then there are the resources being left at some points around Atlanta that were not taken when the end of the world broke out.
These strongholds will more or less have some heavy weapons and essential resources that should not be discarded.
Now is a period of time when the walkers leave the city and begin to spread out into the surrounding razes.
Considering that, the number of walkers in the urban area has greatly decreased. Therefore, it is a good time to enter the urban area. If there is a delay, many survivors trapped in the urban area will die and many supplies will be consumed unnecessarily.
This is also a good time to gather the remaining survivors from the city. They are sitting in a large prison, and the minimum number of placements is over 550 people, and the current number of people in their small community does not exceed 200 people.
The work on their plans also has a long way to go. Such a small community would definitely be crushed by larger ones.
