TWD: A New Beginning From the End of the World

Chapter 54: Voices and Whispers in Atlanta

"What the hell is that sound?"

Everyone in the prison was surprised to hear the siren coming from Atlanta, many of the people grabbed their weapons and went out into the large prison field to find out what was going on.

On the move, everyone arrived at the large open space in the prison, with fear described on their faces and questions appeared in the chaotic camp.

At that moment, Edwin Jenner suddenly came out of the room and said loudly with a megaphone in his hand, "Don't be afraid, everyone, come here!"

Everyone gathered at the words, and Glenn in the crowd asked, "Scientist, do you know what's going on?"

"Yes, everyone listen to my explanation!"

"This is a plan that could not be explained to you due to the short time we had on our hands, now we have all the time in the world for you to understand what is going on."

...

A series of huge cargo trucks drove down the road and awkwardly contained two huge tanks. In a cargo truck, Airon and Rick were heading towards the last point on the map.

"Captain, with these two tanks we would have seven in our hands, won't we be invincible? Hahaha!" George Burcea, who was driving a truck, couldn't help but voice his thoughts over the radio.

Airon, who heard this, kept silent for a moment. It would be true of George's words if many important factors that no one takes into account were not considered, so he picked up the radio and replied coolly.

"That's because you are thinking in a very limited way. If we don't solve the fuel problem, tanks can't be used very often and that's without considering ammunition. Do you think tank shells can be found casually on temporary bases just as casually?"

Airon directly poured cold water on George Burcea's arrogant words, he had to make it clear to him that even if they had a hundred tanks, it wouldn't do any good if they can't maintain them and that was something Mike along with Sam Valdez had in mind.

Now everyone's excitement slowly died down and no one spoke, they all thought about why they could not compare to Airon's thought process. While they think that one gun and a hundred bullets is enough, the  leader thinks that it would be better to have one hundred guns and a thousand bullets.

However, Airon didn't care about George Burcea's thoughts, he knew he was just joking a moment ago and then he said to Billy Fisher who was in the group, "Billy, when we get to the destination, take care of going to the roof of the truck to keep an eye on the surroundings."

"Okay, Captain!" Agreed Billy happily. The longer the people on the team had been with Airon, the more they looked up to him.

From the beginning they were knowing that as long as Airon is on their side, they can feel safe and protect everyone. These people who joined later naturally obeyed Airon's orders, and even expected to receive individual orders to show what they are capable of to Airon.

Eventually, a series of trucks finally arrived at a military fortification. The difference with the last position was that the scale at this location was much larger. This was a huge plaza resembling the CDC's outdoor facilities on the outskirts of the city, with a very good view all around.

But to everyone's disappointment, there were a lot of walkers in the plaza. For some strange reason, the walkers in this place were crowded. Airon guessed that this place should have been a big shelter for survivors.

From the location, there should have been many troops back then staying in this place, but for unknown reasons, a large number of walkers seemed to have emerged from within. As a result of the large number of walkers gathered in this place, they attracted more walkers, and gradually formed a large wave of changelings.

Airon did not show an expression of regret like the other members of the group, these problems were insignificant in his eyes. For now, he ordered George Burcea to stop at a remote place, then everyone ate leisurely while resting to regain strength and then take all these supplies with them.

"Captain! Have you made a mistake or are you thinking of clearing out all these walkers? There are so many walkers in this place, not to mention how to take all the supplies. What are we doing in this place if the walkers don't move?" A young man named Aurelio looked at Airon with a somewhat nervous expression.

Hearing this young man's doubts, Airon didn't explain, he just smiled mysteriously, pointed at Aurelio and said one word at the same time, "Just wait, I don't make mistakes."

Just when everyone was guessing what was about to happen, something was heard in the distance!

"Beep! Beep!"

A loud siren sounded from the buildings in the distance, the siren seemed to pierce the sky and at this moment Airon slowly said, "The reason we haven't moved from this place is because of the resources, if we can't collect these resources, what did I bring them here for?"

After speaking, he pointed to the source of the sound in the distance and explained, "That's the Atlanta Center for Disease Control and Prevention!"

"You mean the siren is coming from the CDC?" Rick still didn't understand.

Airon stood up, looked at Rick and then explained in detail what was going on, "By now everyone should know that there is a bomb at the CDC. In fact, it had already been discussed in detail with the scientists long before people started evacuating."

"The original plan was that after the transfer and resourcing of the CDC facility, a very powerful siren was to be installed on the roof, the jumper will run continuously and then the entire CDC will be destroyed."

"In this way, a group of walkers can be eliminated to the maximum, right?" Rick instantly understood the intention to do so.

"Looks like it's not hard to understand! So don't worry about the walkers in the city or in this place, just wait for everyone to start moving towards the source of the sound."

After saying that, Airon continued to rest in silence. He wanted to use this time at least to rest. He didn't think much about what was going on in the surroundings, everything was under his plans and was developing properly.

With this, he also ensured that Hershel's farm could be kept safe for a few more days, at least until the bomb in the CDC went off and burned the device emitting those sounds.

Some time later, the sound of several people chewing was heard inside the trucks.

After a few minutes, there was complete silence. Only Aurelio stood by the window without resting. After all, someone still needs to be on guard.

With the loud sound coming from the direction of the CDC, the walkers at the base actually started to move slowly towards the direction of the CDC, with this speed the walkers should not be seen after a few hours.

Aurelio looked at the long stream of walkers and then at the time, it was already close to six o'clock in the evening, it should be night when the walkers are no longer in this base.

So he was in no hurry, but his eyes kept looking around through the window with vigilance.

Finally! When it was eight o'clock at night, Airon opened his eyes, looked back and found that Aurelio was still on guard, so he said, "Aurelio, rest, I'll protect you from now on!"

"Captain, I'm not tired!" Aurelio didn't want Airon to guard the night, but seeing Airon's firm attitude, he simply woke up his friend beside him and said, "Let Milo keep watch until midnight, I'll guard the second half so everyone can sleep a little longer."

"Yes, Captain, let me do it!" Milo was still a little confused, but the roar of the walker coming from outside the car woke him up instantly.

Seeing that the attitudes of the few people were firm, Airon simply stopped arguing, nodded and continued to rest with his eyes closed.

The night passed quickly, and Atlanta was extremely cold in the early morning of the next day. After a night's rest, several people in the truck cabs woke up one after another. Airon had also woken up much earlier than the others, looked at the time and saw that it was 5:29 in the morning.

Outside, only a faint light is emitted from the sky, and it is still a while before dawn, but the faint light can already see clearly in the surrounding environment.

Due to the sound stimulation from the sirens, the base of this place, which was crowded with walkers, there were only two to three walkers left in the surrounding area.

Airon knew that no matter how loud the sound was, it was impossible to attract all the walkers, there were probably dozens of walkers in this place but the effect had already surprised Airon.

After waking up everyone in the trucks, Airon planned to use this moment for everyone to fully wake up and eat something.

At 6:10 in the morning, it was already a good time to move.

Everyone also got out of the cargo trucks and began to deal with the walkers scattered everywhere, this was too easy.

Just as they cleared the walkers and were about to enter the camp for supplies, Airon stopped in front of a Humvee with the doors closed, his eyes fixed on this vehicle.

"There's someone here!" Airon didn't utter a sound, he just waved his hand, and the people around him immediately surrounded him.

All eyes were on the trunk of that military vehicle!
