Umbra Frontier Online – A Casual Playthrough of the Umbra Witch

Chapter 24: Now, this is getting good.

Announcement

A/N: I had totally forgotten to add one crucial detail about the Liberation Quest at Chapter 22, where EXP will not be gained during the quest and will only be obtained at the end of the quest when rewards are given out. (Edited that chapter already, so it's there now.)

Anyways, now that you know, please carry on with the chapter. 🍫

Monsters are attacking me on my right. Monsters are attacking me on my left. Monsters are attacking me from all directions. Especially on my rear.

I had to fend off them, evade them, kill a whole lot of them, and repeat that all over again as I make my way to the next location where a Shadow Gate might be.

Now, there's one problem: Where was it again?

I remember the direction of where it is, but can't pinpoint the exact location.

In the first place, this city is huge. Making it hard for me to find my way when there are so many buildings all around me.

Secondly, I know the place where the monster population is most dense. But when there are monsters everywhere in the city, pursuing me from all corners, it makes it really difficult for me to know if I'm at the right place or not.

The pressure is immense. At this rate, I might be in danger no matter where I go.

I need the high ground again. But that brings me my next problem: The monsters themselves.

Now, the Scrowlers and all of the other types of monsters its size aren't that big of a deal. However, the Shadow Titans are.

Not only are they enormous which makes their area of attacks incredibly wide for me to avoid, they also hit hard and have high defenses. Making them formidable foes to face.

So far, I have yet to kill a single one of them and they have almost killed me five times at this point. If not for my Magic Buckler and my Final Push skill, I would have certainly died to one of their stomps, kicks, backhands or punches.

They are also preventing me from taking the high ground. Smacking me down to the ground like a fly, each time I tried.

These guys may be more of a trouble than the Jacksons or Gaius, I would say. And the former is a regular monster while the latters are boss monsters! That's insane.

Final Push is still on cooldown and I am now hiding in a building to catch my breath.

Man.... Diego's right. This is difficult.

But, it's also fun as hell!

This may be where I die for the first time. Or maybe I won't.

Honestly, I'm being optimistic right now. Seeing how slim the situation is for me to survive.

Nonetheless, I will keep moving forward. I've already destroyed one Shadow Gate. There's no way I'll back down now!

That being said, the fact that I am in a pinch has not changed.

"Grrrrrr...."

The monsters are onto me. So I left my hiding spot before they find me and attacked.

"Haste. Multi-Firebomb!"

"Gggrrrrraaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!"

I promptly left the building after killing several monsters. But what awaited me outside was, as expected, a Shadow Titan's foot, about to stomp me.

"Moon Walk!"

I teleported out of harm's way and avoided being crushed by the Shadow Titan.

"As expected, I'll need to defeat you first before I go to the next Shadow Gate."

This Shadow Titan in particular has been on my butt for far too long. Therefore, it's time I kill it.

"Multi-Mana Bolt!"

I shot the first strike against the giant. Trying to utilise my Eye of the Accursed staff to paralyse it with its effect.

But with its low chance of working, the first attack did not paralysed the Shadow Titan.

I would love to have Yura's luck stats right about now.

"Multi-Mana Bolt!" I fired the same attack again while evading its stomps. Unfortunately, it failed to paralyse again, as the other monsters around me started to attack as well.

"Magic Shield! Moon Walk!"

I placed a Magic Shield above me and teleported on it. Afterwards, I applied Haste on myself and multi-casted Magic Shield, placing them all around me in the air as I jumped to one of them next before the Shadow Titan strikes me down on the Magic Shield platform I was on.

Then, again... "Multi-Magic Shield!" I continued placing Magic Shield platforms as I went. Jumping from one after another in the air, while also dodging the Shadow Titan's attacks.

With my position in the air now, I did not have to worry about the other monsters on the ground below and can focus on dealing with the big guy first.

That being said, this Shadow Titan is really trying to bring me back to the ground. Swatting its arms around like a man attempting to shoo a pesky fly away from him. Honestly, it's kind of hilarious seeing a humanoid giant do that. Perhaps this is why flies like to do that to people.

...Until they get clapped to death, that is.

Which is what the Shadow Titan is about to do.

"Moon Walk!"

The Shadow Titan clapped. And a sonic boom was created. As I had teleported up out of harm's way, the force of the sonic boom knocked me up even higher in the air, which had also dealt some damage to my HP with the Magic Buckler taking most of the damage for me.

Nonetheless, this is a prime opportunity, as now that I am higher up in the air where the Shadow Titan can't touch me, I proceeded to aim my staff and fire as many non-attribute attack spells as possible at its face.

To paralyse it, and to damage it.

"Multi-Mana Blast! Multi-Mana Blast! Multi-Mana Blast!"

Numerous attacks were made as I fell. And by a stroke of luck, the Shadow Titan finally got paralysed as its body twitched and jerked.

At last... it's time for the finisher.

"Magic Shield. Moon Walk."

First, I placed a platform in front of its face and teleported there.

"Multi-Firebomb!"

Then, I aimed for the eyes. Removing its sight. The Shadow Titan roared in pain when I did so.

"Multi-Magic Shield! Haste!"

After taking its sight, I made my move and maneuvered around its head as I intended to go for the nape. By the time the paralysis effect was lifted from its body, I was already on its nape. Holding tightly onto its hair.

Finally, I pressed my staff against its nape and unleashed everything I got at it.

"Multi-Firebomb!"

A big explosion occurred. The blast would have blown me back, but I held onto the Shadow Titan's hair which I was holding onto beforehand. As a result, while the Shadow Titan roared in agony and tried to reach for me, I dug my staff into its nape again and attacked for the second time.

"Multi-Firebomb!"

Another big explosion occurred. The blast blew the Shadow Titan's hand away before it could grab me, while its entire neck was almost gone now.

Just one more and I can end it.

And so, using the remaining MP I have left, I proceeded to finish it off.

"Multi-Firebomb!"

Boom! The Shadow Titan's head was blasted off from its body. The black mist in replacement of blood came spewing out of the Shadow Titan's head and body until its entire being vanished into nothingness.

And with the giant monster gone, I began falling to the ground... where the horde of monsters awaits me below.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Condition cleared: [Use the Firebomb skill 500 times.]
Skill Acquired: [Explosion]
Cost: 200 MP
An advanced fire-attribute skill. Will cause a high amount of area-of-effect damage to any enemies within range. Has a high chance of Knockback on enemies when hit. Now say it with me: "Waga na wa—!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Heh."

I laughed upon seeing the new skill I've just acquired.

This is perfect for what comes next. I thought, and quickly drank a MP potion before I reached the ground.

There is no need for landing. Because even before my feet touched the stone paved ground of the city, the monsters began to pounce onto me. However, that was their mistake as I aimed my staff right at the ground and shouted the name of my newly acquired skill.

"EXPLOSION!"

The blast was huge. Larger than what Firebomb could achieve. I hadn't even used Multi-casting with it and yet, the monsters that were surrounding me earlier were blown into dust by a single use of the Explosion skill.

Taking advantage of the fact that I've gotten some space for myself, I drank more MP potions to fully restore my MP before the monsters that weren't blown away attacked me.

And when they did, I smiled at their ugly faces and pointed my staff at all of them.

"Move. You're not worth my attention right now."

"Multi... Explosiooooon!"

"Gggggrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"

"Shhhiiiiiiiiiiikkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!"

"Krrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!"

Oh now, this is getting good.

Time to locate and destroy the second Shadow Gate then~

Thanks for reading. 🍫
