VECTOR IN DC

CHAPTER 214

[Jason Todd’s POV]

Standing in a dimly lit space, I was
surrounded by dead bodies as blood splattered all over the walls and also the
ground. While most had deep knife wounds, others lost their frail lives to some
bullets of mine. Panting a bit as I tried catching my breath due to the intense
killing spray I had just engaged on, all to get to the man who was either behind
the next door or had probably made a run for it in the midst of the chaos.

As I approached the door, I retracted one
of my pistols and reached for the doorknob. While my hand drew closer to the
doorknob, I made a sudden pause, noticing strange shadows lingering at the
bottom area of the door. With a immediate change in plans, I forcefully kicked
down the door with my heavy boots and sent two men stumbling down the stairs to
the basement.

As I entered, a gun from the side was placed
at my head and just as his trigger finger was about squeezing the trigger at point
blank range, I quickly reached for the gun and moved both the gun and my head
in opposite directions, the bullet shot into the wall, completely missing it’s mark
which was my brain.

I aggressively drove my knee into his solar
plexus, then held on to his head and aggressively bashed it into the wall
behind him as blood splattered all over. While the others who fell, quickly regained
their footing.

Moving speedily I pulled out my second
pistol and jumped on the rails of the stairs as an hefty man with a gun in his
hand rushed out of another door in the below. I fired two consecutive headshots
at both men who fell down the stairs earlier, then I shot the hefty man on his
knee cap while gliding down on the rails as their bodies dropped to the floor
one after the other.

Ignoring his painful grunts, I made contact
with the ground and immediately shifted my weight into a roll and stopped right
where he had dropped to his other knee while the other was bleeding profusely.
I pulled out my knife and drove it directly beneath his jaw and all the way up
to his tiny brain.

“That should do it.” I muttered to myself
as I walked into the office of where the culprit was probably operating from,
while completely staying out of sight and keeping a low profile.

“Sweet, sweet, karma.” I said as the person
who was seated at the other side of a desk was none other than Gotham City
former district attorney, Harvey Dent.

 Dressed
in a white and purple striped suit, each equally divided on both halves as he sat
reclined into a comfortable office chair with a glass of whiskey in hand and a
cigar in his mouth.

 “Are
you some kind of super soldier or what? That would explain how an intruder made
his way down here without having his own blood spilling out of his guts, or
dead.” Two face said, as he gestured for me to take a seat while grabbing the
bottle of whiskey on the table to pour me a drink.

“No thanks, you can keep your fucking
drink.” I responded, my only thoughts that moment was, which was the most agonizing
way of killing the bastard.

 “Your
lose son, this whiskey has a fine blend to it.”
He replied before reaching for his upper suit pocket and pulled out a
coin which he placed on the table.

“So what business do you have with me that made
you so persistent on interrupting my evening?”

“You’ve recently began interfering with
territories and the businesses of crime lords who happen to pledge elegance to Ghost,
and those who have their business under his protection.” I said as I drew
closer to his desk, slowly changing my tone into one of noticeable bloodlust.

“Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t
put a bullet right through your fucking skull right now.” I said to him, not
letting my grudge against the man influence the flow of the job, revenge could
come afterwards.

“I won’t deny or confirm these claims but
what does it matter to you anyway? Are you one of his lackeys? He sure do have quite
the collection of frighteningly strong lackeys.”

“You do know what happens to people who
tries to undermine him right? If you don’t, just ask Black Mask’s people.” I
put down my gun, knowing he wasn’t a major treat because I could absolutely
take him without breaking a single sweat.

 “Oh
Black Mask, such a tragic fate I must say.” He replied as he reached for the coin
on the table and flipped it up into the air. The moment I took a look at it up
in the air, he pulled out a gun and fired shots at me.

Quickly I ducked to the ground, taking a
dive just to the front side of his desk as I leaned against it. “How dare that
stranger come into my city and act like he owns the place. I need to put him in
his place so he knows this city isn’t up for the grabs and it is my city.” He
emphasized.

He climbed on top the desk and fired shots down
below, only to come to an empty space. I immediately tackled him to the ground
from behind and disarmed him in the process as I got him on his knees, holding
him at gun point.

“I don’t believe in karma but this evening
has me wondering, what if there is something such as karma after all?”

“What do you mean by that?” He asked with
both hands raised up in the air. I took off my helmet and looked him dead in
the eye as I spoke. “Look at me, does my face remind you of anyone?” I asked
him.

“This isn’t just about my issues with Ghost
is it?” He asked with a raised brow and with a calm tone, not sounding like a
person who was one squeeze of a trigger away from passing on to the underworld.

“Maybe this would help jug your memory.” I said
to him as I pulled the trigger, putting a bullet right into his collar bone. He
grunted in pain as he held on to his bleeding shoulder.

“You son of a bitch.” He mumbled in pain.
“Now we are getting somewhere. I shot both of his thighs and had him leaking
blood from all over. “What is it you have against me anyway? What did I ever do
to you?”

“Remember the name Willis Todd? He was an
affiliate of yours who you murdered in cold blood.”

“Oh I see, you’re his son.” He said as a
creepy smile slowly made its way across the other half of his face.

“Now look who’s finally getting it. Any
last words?” I asked as I walked behind him and placed my knife at his throat, giving
him the chance to spit out whatever garbage he might have in mind. A gunshot
would be showing mercy, I needed him to suffer before giving up his last
breath.

“I…” My knife slit his throat before he
could make a sentence to utter his last words. It was a shallow cut that wasn’t
deep enough to kill him in an instant, but deep enough to have him choking on
his own blood.

He dropped to the ground as he clenched on
to his throat, laying in a puddle of his own blood. Slitting his throat had
given me a euphoric feeling as my knife cut through his windpipe and while I
watched him grab on to his throat and jerking as he chocked all the way to the
afterlife.

“Like I care what your last words might be.” I
grizzled, cleaning my knife on his lifeless body before heading out of there.

Here I go again, wiping out another organization
who dared to interfere with Ghost, here in Gotham criminal underworld. I don’t
think there would be a need to tell Tom about this, all he needs to know is
that whoever was causing a stir in his business on the underground, was now
taken care of and would be serving as food to the maggots of the earth really
soon. I’m sure he would feel right at home since one part of his face was
looking hideously rotten anyway.

Walking out the back door, I made a turn
around to the near by district where I had my bike parked and safely hidden. “I
could really use a hot bubble bath tonight to help me wash off the stress and
tension from the evening.” I exasperated as I hopped on my bike, kick starting
it and driving off into the night with turned off headlights.
