Chapter 38: Spider-Man From The Parallel Universe

——

Queens, New York.

Norton and the others stood in front of the Meiben couple's house as Peter sprayed cobweb bombs and rang the doorbell. "Huh," Peter said, putting his hands on his waist a little nervously and then pretending to be relaxed as he spoke to the four people beside him. "Why don't we go?" Peter was worried about the reaction of the Mebens when they saw him, and as a mature young man, he felt a little uneasy.

"Peter, we have already arrived at the door," Norton pointed out. Peter's nervousness was baffling, especially since he wouldn't usually be apprehensive about seeing family. This chubby Peter was completely different from the Peter in Norton's memory; they seemed like two different people. Could love be so powerful? "Huh, well..."

Unable to handle the tension, Peter started to walk away, muttering, "This is too bad, too bad, really too bad." Norton and Gwen shot out webs in unison to pull Peter back, both shaking their heads in disbelief. "You can't be so cowardly, Peter," Gwen frowned and said. In her universe, Peter nearly became a lizardman, and if Norton hadn't stopped him at the critical moment, the consequences would have been disastrous.

Seeing Norton was about to lecture him, Peter quickly waved his hand. "Okay, okay, I really don't want to listen to your lectures." Just then, the door creaked open, and Uncle Ben appeared. "I'm not ready yet," Peter tried to make his smile seem genuine.

"Peter!?" Uncle Ben exclaimed, surprised as he looked at Peter's slightly different appearance. Aunt May soon appeared behind Uncle Ben, joining him in greeting Norton and the others. "Wow, Peter, you look a lot more haggard, and also..." Aunt May poked Peter's belly, noting, "You've plumped up a lot." "Even wearing slacks," Norton added with a sigh.

"Norton, you've come back from Chongguo?" Uncle Ben warmly hugged Norton and noticed Gwen and Rosa, who resembled him. "He came back with his wife and daughter."

"Okay, okay, listen to me," Peter interrupted Aunt May, who was getting more playful. Hadn't Aunt May ever seen such a big belly? Still, she poked at it.

"We are from another..." Peter started, trying to explain, but Aunt May interrupted him with a familiar expression. "Is this from another time and space?"

The Meiben couple clearly weren't strangers to such encounters, having witnessed strange events, including parallel universes. "Okay," Peter said, at a loss for words.

"Okay, Aunt Mei and Uncle Ben, we need to repair this gadget. Can you take us there?" Norton said, holding out the broken heavy-duty key to the Meiben couple.

The Meiben and his wife exchanged a serious glance.

"Come with us."

They led Norton and the others to a cabin in the backyard.

"I also have a place like this, a small room where I store all kinds of super equipment," Uncle Ben said.

A high-tech operation appeared before them, and Peter rolled his eyes: "Such an exaggerated place, it looks like it was made by Norton."

Norton's family glared at him as if to say, do you have a problem?

"I just like things that are flamboyant and handsome," Peter immediately confessed.

After entering the secret base, they saw various high-tech items, spider tanks, spider fighters, and at the bottom, a bunch of high-tech computers and battle suits.

"Wow, not bad, but still much smaller than ours," Gwen remarked, and Rosa nodded in agreement.

"They don't know for certain that we're coming back, and we're obviously outnumbered," Aunt Mei said with her hands on her hips and a smile. "Do you think you're the only ones who thought of this place?"

The five of Norton looked up toward the spider web above, led by Spider Telepathy, where three figures appeared.

Shadow Spider-man greeted them, "Hi, guys."

His appearance was humorously ridiculed by everyone.

"Is he... black and white?"

"Where is the wind coming from? We should be in the basement."

Afterward, Penny and Spider-Ham, with their two-dimensional style, greeted them.

Their appearance seemed odd to the group, and Norton felt it was weird.

"Hi, hello, I'm Penny Parker, and this is my good friend," the petite and lovely Penny introduced herself, pointing to the spider robot beside her.

"My name is Peter Porker, and I am..." Spider-Ham introduced himself.

Once acquainted, they discussed how to solve the crisis.

"The way to get home is to jump into that collider, but the only obstacle is that one of us has to stay and destroy it."

Norton looked around and asked, "Who's coming?"

"I'll do it," each Spider-man volunteered.

"Hmm..." Norton scratched his chin, thought for a while, and said, "I have someone in mind."
