Wandering in Omniverse

Ch 62 – The Dual Dungeon

Choi Jong-In turned serious as he studied the slide carefully before asking

"Guild Master, so you want to say that something big's going to happen soon?!"

Hearing Choi Jong-In's words, the other hunters were surprised.

Jason nodded his head.

"Today, I call you all here to answer the questions that have become a headache for humanity for many years... What are gates?! Why did they appear suddenly?! And the great plan behind it?!"

What?!!!

The people inside the room couldn't control their shock and slammed the table as they stood up.

Only Go Gun-Hee was the sole exception who seemed a little calm.

The reaction was expected because these questions had troubled humanity since the first gate appeared out of nowhere many years ago. There were many theories about it but nobody had strong proof to prove something.

And today the strongest hunter in history was claiming to answer those questions.

This really shocked everyone beyond words as they waited, sweating, for him to speak.

Jason waited a few seconds for them to calm down before he continued in an extremely serious voice.

"I know it'll be going to be difficult to believe but what I'm going to tell you next is all true."

"Actually the gates are nothing more than a way to pour magical energy into our world." Jason then explained to them the complete process.

Hearing his reason and explanation, the hunters were surprised.

And now they only had one question in their heads.

'Who and Why?! Who could do things like that?! Why should someone do something like fill their world with magical energy?! What are they trying to achieve from it?!'

Seemingly reading their thoughts, Jason tapped the table again to attract everyone's attention before continuing.

"It's to prepare a battlefield. The one who did these things wanted to turn our world into a battlefield for the upcoming war!"

"WHAT?! A WAR?!!"

The people inside the conference room shouted as they shuddered in fear.

Jason nodded his head slowly.

"H-Hyun Jason H-Hunter-nim, a-are you s-sure about it?" Sung Il-Hwan gulped down his dry saliva as he asked in a fearful tone.

He wanted his Guild Master to deny it and said that it was only a joke. Not only him but the others also shared the same thoughts with him.

But Jason didn't show any signs of denying what he said.

It only made them more nervous!

"Hades Hunter-nim, you said a war will break out soon. But how do you know it? And who are our enemies?!" Go Gun-Hee who was quiet from the start opened his mouth for the first time and asked as his light flashed with seriousness.

"I learned it just recently inside a dungeon," Jason mixed truth with lies, giving them a vague answer. "Actually, many years ago..."

Jason then told them about the story of the Absolute Being. How he created Rulers and Monarchs from light and Darkness.

The Rulers were created to protect the world that was created while the Monarchs were born to destroy.

The enmity between them which had continued for so many eons.

However, after a long time, the Rulers rebelled against the Absolute Being, killing it in the end. Then how the Monarchs and Rulers chose Earth as their next battlefield, using gates as medium to convert the Blue Planest into a mana zone that could handle their battle.

"This will not be going to be a simple war. But a war that decides the fate of humanity."

Jason's expression turned grave. "Soon, the balance will break out and Monarchs will descend on Earth."

Except for Jason and Go Gun-Hee everyone's face was pale from just imagining it.

"So, what I wanted to say is that..."

...

A Week Later

"Son?"

Jin-Woo was about to get up and sneakily leave but sat back down quietly again when Park Kyung-Hye called out.

"Yes, Mom?"

She took her eyes off the TV and looked at Jin-Woo.

"You weren't trying to… go somewhere, were you?"

His mother's sixth sense could sometimes be even sharper than that of a high-ranking Hunter's, Jin-Woo mused inwardly.

Jin-Woo flinched just a little but replied as if nothing was amiss.

"I have a promise to keep, you see."

"A promise? On a day like this?"

"I made that promise a while ago, Mom. I thought that, since that Gate is opening in Japan anyway and it won't affect us, I didn't cancel it."

Park Kyung-Hye stared at him with unconvinced eyes. She continued to stare at Jin-Woo for a little while longer, before asking her son again.

"I don't have to worry about you, right?"

Jin-Woo patted his chest and said confidently.

"Don't worry Mom. Nothing will happen. I'll not do anything dangerous."

Park Kyung-Hye nodded her head and formed a gentle smile only after looking deeply at him.

"Be careful on your way out."

"We'll be back soon."

Jin-Woo left the house and took a sigh of relief, meeting with Jason who was waiting for him.

"It really gives me a shock."

"What happened? Did your Mom catch you?"

"Almost," Jin-Woo said, calming down his racing heart.

"Let's get going. Where is the location?" Jason smiled and patted his shoulder, asking him despite already being aware of it.

Jin-Woo nodded and summoned out the key.

"Huh, isn't it?" After a few seconds when the destination was revealed, Jin-Woo had a shocked expression. He was very familiar with that place.

"What happened?" Jason asked.

Jin-Woo then shared the location with him. He also took out his phone and checked the information on the Gate in question. He confirmed its status and found that there was a Guild already busy clearing it right now.

They quickly made their way towards their location and in a few seconds, the sight of the familiar school was caught in their eyes.

They stepped through the front gate and spotted the Gate floating in the air just above the athletics field to the side. A handful of Association employees and staff members from the Guild doing the raid were standing around the Gate as if to guard its surroundings.

One of the Guild's staff members belatedly discovered them and tried to cut them off.

"You're not allowed in here."

Heok!

"It's you!!"

But when the association employee saw them clearly, she immediately recognized one of them.

Jason had already recognized her and nodded his head in a greeting.

Jin-Woo stepped forward and said to her.

"You need to stop this raid right now."

"Pardon me??"

She got flustered as she tried to make her reply.

"B-but, the measurement result came out as only C…."

Jin-Woo shook his head and told her in no uncertain terms.

"If you don't stop the raid now, they will all die."

"…..!!"

Jin-Woo raised his head and glared at the Gate.
