Chapter 547: The Mortal Coil (2)
"Son, how effective would that be for those already at the peak of other ranks?" Yang Kai asked as he eyed the one the remaining Mortal Coils I had saved from the previous batch.
"I too am a little curious about that. It's a rather interesting item." Wu Kuang said, grabbing hold of the other Mortal Coil. "I can feel an interesting power coming from it. Not too dissimilar to that thing." He continued, "oohing" and "aahing" over the Mortal Coil.
I let out a chuckle when I saw what Wu Kuang's face was doing. He was clearly trying to hold back his interest in the Mortal Coil… However, it was so clear that the idea of him not being interested in it would only be stated by the blind. No one struggles that much to hide a good emotion without truly being overcome with it.
"Well, this is what my plan was to exchange with you. As you can clearly see, it is quite effective in doing what I thought it might. Possessing power that slightly surpasses the Universe Four Pillars." I explained. "While it may not be a perfect exchange, I do have this scroll with me, that has the perfected version of your cultivation method. In other words, the parts of it that you were missing before…" I said holding a scroll above the palm of my hand.
Such a good thing could only ever benefit two people in this world. And while I could always make another copy, I already gave it to Yang Kai during one of our earlier interactions. To which Yang Kai refused to cultivate the method anyway, opting for his own methods. That said, for Wu Kuang, this was the best possible thing. In fact it was so good his body instinctively lunged for it, his hand didn't manage to pass an invisible barrier I had around the scroll.
"What do you mean by this? I need that scroll. And how did you manage to block me out like that?" Wu Kuang asked, rubbing his hand which was currently in extreme pain. It was the result of a fast moving object colliding with an objectively superior force.
"Well, there are a few ground rules of course. But I'll start with answering why you couldn't grab it…" I said, sipping my tea like nothing happened. "Right now, the space above my palm is an entirely different space. And you rammed your hand directly into the barrier protecting this secret technique from the outside world." I explained, sipping my tea once more and letting a soft, satisfied sound out at the flavor. "Ah, such excellent tea…" I sighed again.
"Well, in that case son… You have definitely surpassed me in the Dao of Space… Though I knew that long ago." Yang Kai laughed and patted me on my back.
"I'm unworthy of such praise. I simply had an advantage literally no one else has. It feels rather lonely… But it's the price I must pay for riding Ink out of this world." I chuckled softly. "For without you here, I would also not be here now. I can spare a little credit for you, Father." I added with a slightly devious chuckle.
"Okay, that's enough ignoring me. Now explain, what conditions do you have for handing that…" Wu Kuang said, as a drool dripped from his mouth which he wiped away only to have more fall. "Fat piece of meat over. I want, no… I need that…" He continued, like I was dangling a giant chunk of meat in front of a beast.
"Well, for starters you need to give that lotus of yours. Since it only serves the purpose of correcting the effects of your devouring, with this new method you'll be fine even without it. As for the ink force, the Mortal Coil will protect you from such dangers." I explained, sipping my tea while calmly seeing the reaction. "Secondly, I'll need you to swear to deliver a special package meant for Cang. The contents of which are meant solely for him so he can recover his full strength. I shouldn't need to explain to you how imperative it is that this happens." I added with a slight narrowing of my eyes.
"The second one I can agree to immediately. But the first… Is a bit difficult. The lotus has fused with me and taking it out will cause me some issues." Wu Kuang replied, with a great amount of difficulty.
"So you'll agree to do the trade if you can remove the lotus without any down sides, or be compensated for them?" I asked… "I have already done enough for the trade but the process will likely not be easy. I'll personally speed up your recovery and even give you a large number of settlers along with the array that will allow for rapid population expansion. Good?" I added, setting my cup down, the intensity of this action was not lost on those who could sense the build up I was preparing.
"If such a thing is possible… But I should clarify, I'd need help removing it from myself as well. It's been with me for so long that it's really a basic component of my very being…" Wu Kuang explained, stopping when suddenly he felt weakened beyond comparison. And in his hand was the scroll of the full method. "Huh?" He muttered in shock as he then began recovering to full strength and even slightly more… "Such a quick exchange, was it really that easy for you?" He asked, opening the scroll.
"Of course it was. I only waited because I didn't want to steal it from you. But I could have taken it out just now, even if you were at Star Boundary." I answered, handing the lotus over to Yang Kai and in that instant I understood the Stainless Pure Lotus' true nature… Sending a shiver went down my spine. "Father, you'll have to manage the fusion on your own. Ripping your lotus out would not be as easy. It has been with you since even before forming your knowledge sea and is also the origination of your Divine Sense. Meddling with that would be too risky, even for me." I explained, and began preparing to fuse more of the Mortal Coils.
"Don't worry, I'll work it out. It's the least I can do for the effort you put into giving me this opportunity." Yang Kai said, happily accepting the Stainless Pure Lotus.
