Chapter 141: Bonus
"Usually, the Ventis Sect would add some targets in various forms, checking your reactions and control over Magic Energy. However, I believe such a method is a little outdated, so I'm introducing a new method. This should give you a better view of your own capacity, which the score would hardly translate," Linfel explained.
Alvin couldn't help but ask Milia on his side. "He just became a supervisor... Can he change the Ventis Sect like that?"
Milia sighed. "Well, I doubt the Manager of this place would let him do such a thing if he hasn't shown his method ahead of time."
Linfel then activated the Magic Array, and it connected to his Core. Following that, Linfel's Magic Sense spread as the Array followed. Finally, everyone's bodies began to show various lines that covered all their bodies, much to the participants' surprise.
Seeing that, Linfel nodded, satisfied. "I believe you all can tell what these are. They are projections of the Magic Channels in your bodies. Magic Energy Control has a lot to do with how well you control your channels. The test's score will be based on that instead of any target practicing or those kinds of bullshit. You are all in luck.
Even if you fail today, you will leave this place with a huge advantage. The Ventis Credits you paid to take this test will look cheap."
Milia and Alvin immediately understood what Linfel was doing. After all, that was the kind of training that Linfel put them through back in the Lungan Forest.
"Alvin," Linfel called him.
Alvin scratched the back of his head and moved to the front. "So you really called me in the end..."
Linfel smiled. "But of course!" Then, he turned his attention to all the Maguses in the room. "Everyone, please pay attention. Alvin is someone who has been under my tutelage for around half a year now. I want you all to try to reproduce in your Magic Channels what he will show to you."
Returning his attention to Alvin, Linfel started. "Alright, Alvin, this is also your test, and the Magic Array will give you the final score. So, even if we know each other, I can't, nor would I change the results. Start by circulating your Magic Energy through twenty channels for five seconds, then swap to the next twenty channels.
Continue in this fashion until you cover all your channels only once."
Indeed, Linfel had Alvin repeat the training he did. With all the eyes on him, Alvin could only follow the orders and do a full rotation. He wasn't worried, though. He could do that with ease since he had been practicing for quite some time. However, just as he tried the first circulation, the Magic Array activated.
*Bzzzz!*
Suddenly, Alvin felt his Magic Energy go chaotic, finding it really hard to control it inside his Magic Channels. Beads of sweat soon appeared on his face, now understanding that things wouldn't really be easy. When he finished a full rotation, he was left gasping for air.
"Good!" Linfel was happy that Alvin completed a full rotation with the Magic Array's intervention. "Everyone, you saw it. Now, I want you to do the same thing. Of course, Alvin is used to this, so I had to add some obstacles in his way, as you all noticed. You, on the other hand, won't be influenced by that. You are free to use your Magic Channels normally.
This is your first test out of three. The degree of difficulty will increase. You can start now."
Everyone looked at how Alvin's Magic Channels worked and tried to copy. Too bad it was truly difficult. And for everyone, the Magic Array wasn't even bothering them. That was truly a fine control of Magic Channels they hadn't tried before, especially the new Maguses. Some of the older ones managed to use twenty channels for five seconds before swapping to another twenty.
However, they couldn't do it one after another and ended up failing after the third or fourth test.
"This is too difficulty!" One of the Maguses immediately complained. He was especially angry since he had gotten used to the normal test, and he was confident he could finally pass the test today. Unfortunately, Linfel just had to appear.
Linfel smiled at him. "Your control over the Magic Energy after they leave the Meridians isn't too bad. Unfortunately, you are wasting too much Magic Energy. For the normal Magic Energy Control test, you truly would have a good chance of succeeding, but that wouldn't really make you as good as Alvin here."
Linfel approached him and then used his own Magic Energy. "Can you feel my Magic Energy in your body?"
The guy nodded, confused. It wasn't a Master Familiar Connection. Linfel was just throwing Magic Energy inside, which pretty much anyone could do as long as the other part allowed it to happen. "What about it?"
Linfel's fine control over his Magic Energy then changed it into several threads, with a number exactly the same as the number of Magic Energy Channels as the guy. "What about now?"
"This..." The Magus was surprised. Linfel made him feel his Magic Energy Channels with ease. He quickly tried to use twenty as once for five seconds and swap to the next twenty. "So easy..."
"Focus," Linfel warned him.
Sometime later, the guy completed a full rotation. "I did it... and it cost me so little Magic Energy..."
Linfel nodded, satisfied. "I'm a supervisor of the Ventis Sect for this exam. But that doesn't mean I can't help you as long as I don't interfere with the result. Obviously, your attempt just now didn't count. However, you can use your memory of this experience to try again. Go ahead.
The exam will last all day. You have time."
"Friend! Help me now!" One of the Magus didn't waste time and approached Linfel. He was close to the last Magus Linfel just helped, so he was able to see the difference clearly. He found it hard to believe he was looking at the same Magus.
"Me too!"
"Hey, I was here first!"
"Fuck you! I want to try it next!"
Linfel quickly intervened. "Everyone will have one chance to work with me. There is no need to worry. We have plenty of time. No one will be left behind."
At that moment, Milia finally completed a full rotation on her own. She was still not used to it, but she had experience. It's just that the Magic Array didn't bother her like it did with Alvin. Soon, a green light was projected in front of her, giving a message. -First Stage Concluded. Congratulations.-
Milia smiled and then sat by the tired Alvin's side. "And this is just the first test. I wonder if anyone will pass it at all..."
Alvin shrugged. "Hard to say. However, even if they don't pass the test, I don't think a single Magus here will complain after spending a day with Linfel and his training methods. He is not only examining everyone; he is helping them to improve."
Milia looked around, aware that the examination was definitely being watched to make sure the exam was fair and according to the rules. "If he wanted to get attention, he definitely will after today."
Milia couldn't be more correct. The Manager who employed Linfel for this Exam was looking at the examination at this very moment. "Alexandra... just where did you find this piece of work?" He murmured to himself.
Stay tuned with m,v le,mpyr
Yet, he was happy; the test was definitely difficult enough, and Linfel followed the rules. It was Linfel's idea, but above all, it was something that only someone with astonishing Magic Energy Control could pull off. Usually, such Magic Energy Control wouldn't be achieved before Level Seven, Level Eight being the norm.
Too bad that such high-level experts would never waste their time in these exams, so Linfel was a heaven-sent. "Guess I have to give him a bonus at the end of the test today to make sure I can get him back next time."
