Yandere Ojou-sama!

Chapter 17- Can you let go of him?

The following hours went not so smoothly since whatever was being taught in the class was more or less bouncing off my head. It wasn't like I was not understanding what the teachers explained, more like I wasn't able to comprehend them through the modules we were provided with.

The digital screen implanted in every student's desk has several features which are linked with the students' details who acquire the seat. Like if I join the martial art class as my second course, the system would remind me when I have to attend classes, and also I can pretty much ask questions to any teacher in the school through the system if I find any difficulty afterward.

There was a tab for modules and daily content is also available where students can get to know what they would get taught by the teachers. No need to have a book since the digital screen was hefty enough to follow the teacher's words and with the dictionary and thesaurus feature installed, it become really efficient for me to widen my vocabulary.

It was thanks to these advance features that I was able to grasp as much as I can.

'Sigh...I better give extra hours to my studies...'

Since I was put in the top section because of my role to be with Akira, I have to maintain my grades so that in the next reshuffle I don't get kicked out. And once my academic abilities fail me to lower section, no one would be helpful for me to be back here other than myself.

The reshuffling exams happen every three times a year, and once I get demoted there was a high chance I might not be able to return.

'Well, no point in scaring myself...'

Leaning back in my seat I saw the last teacher before the break exiting the class after he gave his lecture on ancient literature. It was overwhelming, to be honest, to hear so many foreign words but I somehow managed thanks to the recent literature and language classes I have been receiving in the mansion.

Since it was only the first day, we were notified that classes would continue until the fourth period, and after that students would be given an hour's break to explore, and those who want to leave, certainly can.

It goes without saying I was going to venture around but something struck my mind and made me a little troubled. It seemed I was forgetting something related to this break but I soon shrugged and packed my bag.

As soon I sensed that my neighbor was about to move I hurriedly rose on my feet and extended my gratitude for the help she did this morning.

"Thank you for your help, classmate. I was really clueless in the morning."

Hearing my word, the girl glanced at me with her brows raised and soon extended her hand as she spoke in a cool tone.

"Rio Fujiwara. Call me, Rio. And it's fine, so don't be so formal."

I was taken aback since I thought she would be an arrogant type of girl who would brush off my gratitude and walk away. I really shouldn't be judging people by their outer appearance.

Meeting her gesture I also extended my hand and greeted the girl with a smile.

"Ok Rio-san. I am Shozio Haruto."

Since the class was already too silent to call it a place of teenagers, the sudden sound of something breaking reverberated around and brought focus to the front of the class where sat a raven-haired girl whom I very well know.

"Are you fine, President? Is it hurting?"

It seemed Akira broke her mechanical pencil at which the girl sitting beside her hurriedly brought her worried query.

"I am fine. Thank you for asking."

In return, everyone heard Akira's smiling voice before the girl stood up and turned toward the back of the class with her face still adorned with a small charming smile.

It may be my imagination but I think I thought I saw her lips twitching a bit. But that wasn't the focal point at the moment at all, since under all the gazes surrounding the class, Akira began to walk in my direction.

I have a strong hunch that Akira was going to stop in the middle of the row since it was too early for her to get acquainted with me, but that doesn't help my fastening heartbeat as I saw her approaching.

I may have become slightly better in my communication skill but with Akira, I found myself still stuttering quite a bit whenever the opportunity arrived for me to have a chat with her. Fortunately at the mansion whenever I had to greet her I was looking at the ground but right now I couldn't give the impression of a butler at all.

My expectations were betrayed and Akira stood just some feet apart from me as she said in her usual tone.

"I heard from my assistant that you are enrolled this year. As the student council president, I take the role to escort you around, student Haruto."

Hearing her words my face stiffened and my body froze at my spot since from what I knew, Akira shouldn't be knowing me or only should be associating with me after I enter the upper circle and join the student council.

I was detailed by Minami-san last night so there was no doubt that Akira's sudden approach was entirely out of the blue.

Sensing the silence around the class and the heavy gazes of the students, it felt was a rare occurrence for Akira to behave like this or might I be reading too much in this? I have no idea since for a long moment I felt my mind going numb.

The awkward situation which grew solemn by the second was soon obstructed by Akira herself.

"Rio Fujiwara-san. Can you let go of Haruto-kun?"

"Ah!"

At her reminder, I heard a flustered shriek from beside me which made me realize that I still was holding Rio-san's hand. And the way she backed away, it seemed she was absent-minded until now as well.

Despite such a short event my eyes never left Akira's figure who was smiling all the time like a completely different person I have seen past few days.

Amidst such silent exchange, a voice soon rang from the entrance of the classroom as a somehow familiar voice called out for me.

"Is Shozio Haruto-kun, here?"
