You Are Deep in The Stars

Chapter 5 - Another World of Bar Owners I

“Why are you two here?” Bai Xi was a little surprised. “Don’t you have to go to work?”

“Of course, we have to go to work. We’re here for research. We happen to be nearby, so we came to see you,” Yu Jiong replied, looking around. “How about having dinner together at noon? I’ll treat you.”

“I really don’t have time. I have to see the old man today,” Bai Xi said, patting his shoulder. “You can entertain yourselves. I’ll leave first.”

“No, are you going to your dad to be scolded again?” Wang Xiaosen suddenly felt infinite sympathy in his heart and asked loudly as Bai Xi walked away, “Is there anything we can do to help?”

“No need,” Bai Xi said hurriedly away as he swiped his card and entered the door to his office, instructing the secretary to notify the rest of the people of the meeting.

“Would you like to have a cup of tea in the lounge?” Han Zhuo invited Yu Jiong and Wang Xiaosen.

“That’s okay,” they both replied, holding thick piles of information in their hands, glad for the spacious and quiet place to sort it out.

Bai Xi’s company was quite small. The decoration was certainly not as gorgeous and luxurious as that of Huanchen Group, but it was still exquisite and comfortable. There was juice and coffee in the lounge, as well as small biscuits for female employees. Han Zhuo studied how to use the coffee machine and planned to make coffee for two people.

“Brother Han, we will do it ourselves,” Wang Xiaosen quickly took the cup from Han Zhuo’s hand. “How can we bother you?”

“It’s fine,” Han Zhuo smiled. “This is also my job. By the way, how is the child at the hospital?”

“He will be discharged from the hospital next week,” Wang Xiaosen said, turning on the coffee machine. “He’ll rest at home for a month, and then he’ll be able to find a job.”

“I heard Mr. Bai say he was the one driving the car on the day of the accident?” Han Zhuo asked, putting sugar cubes on the table.

“Xiao Bai was driving, but it’s not his fault,” Yu Jiong said. “The other party is fully responsible for the rear-end collision in the tunnel.”

The driver who caused the accident was a middle-aged man who looked a little cowardly, but he was also quite honest. He sent the victims to the hospital immediately after the accident. He even brought his wife and daughter to the hospital bedside to apologize for the compensation that was due. His attitude was so good that Bai Xi and Liu Chunchun stopped arguing with him.

“Do you still remember the other party’s license plate number and name?” Han Zhuo asked.

“I remember,” Yu Jiong nodded. “SU4721, a champagne-colored KIA. The driver’s name is Zhao Yuejin, an ordinary employee.”

Han Zhuo nodded and asked, “Do you still want refreshments?”

“No, we’ll leave soon,” Yu Jiong waved his hand. “We can’t be lazy during the internship. Thank you, Brother Han.”

“You’re welcome,” Han Zhuo wiped his hands. “Then I’ll go see Mr. Bai.”

.

The meeting was still ongoing, and the sound insulation of the glass door was very effective. Specific content couldn’t be heard, but Bai Xi’s expression and eyes were visible. They were focused, enthusiastic, and full of vigor. His white shirt fit well, and when he lowered his head, a few strands of hair fell on his forehead. His smile looked better, like sunshine or a gem.

Youth, cleanliness, dreams, and vitality were the most beautiful things in the world.

“Hello.” After a while, Bai Xi’s assistant came out of the conference room and whispered to Han Zhuo, “Mr. Bai said he might need another hour, so he asked you to go to his office to rest first. You don’t have to stand here.”

“Okay,” Han Zhuo smiled apologetically. “I’m sorry to disturb your meeting.”

The assistant quickly shook his head to express that it was okay and personally led him to Bai Xi’s office. The decoration style was simple, with gray tones, but a pink lazy sofa in the corner caught the eye. It was unexpected, and only Liu Chunchun could give such a shocking gift. Bai Xi initially looked disgusted but moved it back to the company. Originally, he wanted to throw it into the utility room, but Liu Chunchun’s persistence made him keep it.

Han Zhuo sent a message to Bai Boyang, and soon an email came back, detailing all the information about the driver Zhao Yuejin. His home address was No. 19-87 Danyang Street, in a newly built community where most residents were affluent overnight. The behavior of “ordinary workers, simple in appearance, but willing to pay compensation after an accident”, easily matched the behavior of the second generation of rich family.

Han Zhuo closed the computer and planned to take a look in person. The meeting wasn’t over yet, but the sky outside was getting darker, indicating heavy rain. The air felt dark and damp, which was depressing. A new intern hurried over to help Bai Xi close the window but didn’t realize someone was in the office. He pushed the door open and almost collided with Han Zhuo.

“I’m sorry,” the intern said, startled. She glanced behind him hesitantly, seeing a warm glow but unsure of what it was.

“Mobile phone flashlight,” Han Zhuo replied calmly. “It’s too dark here. I want to take a photo of the chandelier for future reference. Oh, I’m Mr. Bai’s driver, and my surname is Han.”

The intern was full of doubts. “Oh, okay?”

Han Zhuo leaned over slightly; his eyes innocent yet concerned. “Would this violate company regulations?” His voice, originally pleasant, became more magnetic and ambiguous when deliberately lowered.

The intern felt confused and took a step back unconsciously. “No, no, no, just take the photo, Mr. Han.”

“That’s good,” Han Zhuo smiled gently. “By the way, what’s your name?”

The intern replied, “Song Xiaoxiao.”

Han Zhuo nodded solemnly. “Thank you, Miss Song.”

The starlight between his fingers dissipated, and the room became dim again.
