CH.475 Ancient Prophecy
Yeah. You know what is coming. I got a new set yesterday, so I’m opening some packs. I’ll be doing 20 of them, and then I’ll look at how many Synchro monsters I have, and more importantly, which ones I can summon.
I know you are all excited about Quasar, but I’m honestly not even sure if I can summon him. I don’t recall having a Synchro tuner. But I think I can get around that problem with Lightwave Tuning. I’ll just have to check what Synchro monsters I have.
But that is for later. For now, 20 packs of Ancient Prophecy.
Alright. Naturally with a new set, every card is new.
Sunlight Unicorn is cool, because it is a unicorn. Also a horse, so if I ever give Molly and Cina Card Summoner skill orbs, which I probably should do, I could give both of them a unicorn. Other than that, it is your average LV.4 monster with an ok at best effect.
Battle of the Elements is like Gozen Match, except not continuous. You can argue which one is better, most would say Gozen, but Battle of the Elements might have its moments. … yeah, Gozen is better.
Sunny Pixie is a LV.1 tuner and heals you when used for a Synchro summon. So yeah, it is fine.
Fairy Wind is mediocre as anything.
Armored Axon Kicker is fine. Being able to normal summon it without tribute is nice, and its effect might sound dangerous, but it is a Psychic, so having an effect that causes you damage is just expected.
Damage Translation is interesting. Halving all effect damage and summoning tokens. I’ll probably never use it, but it has an interesting effect.
Psychic Soul can heal, but having to tribute a Psychic for it … I’m not sure. Then again, Mystik Wok requires the same and it is one of my most used cards, so I’ll have to check if I can do something interesting with Psychic Soul.
Emergency Assistance is a sucky Monster Reborn replacement.
And Koa'ki Meiru Speeder sucks as a card, but I guess he has some jet engines in his legs, so maybe I could look into those. They’d probably be easier, and cheaper, to make than rocket engines or the gravity engines my spaceships use.
Next pack.
Aegis of the Ocean Dragon Lord is actually quite nice. From what I recall, LV.3 or lower translates to anyone level 30 or below, and since Aegis of the Ocean Dragon Lord grants them both battle and card effect immunity, it would make it a great way to protect low level people who are too close to the action.
XX-Saber Ragigura is … well, it is an X-Saber. I got that one Synchro yesterday, so good to have some main deck X-Sabers. I’ll need it to be able to summon the Synchro, because it does require a X-Saber non-tuner.
Darksea Float sucks.
Armed Sea Hunter is some strange plesiosaur mermaid mix, and his effect is … okay. Cool to have, but I’m not sure how much I’ll use it.
Imperial Custom is great if I want to use Continuous Traps.
Shark Cruiser is a shark boat, so I love it just for that. But even outside of being funny, it is actually decent.
And Fortune Lady Fire is not one of the best Fortune Ladies, but it isn’t bad either. Also, since this set has Fortune Ladies, it does explain the set name.
Next pack.
Hydro Barrier has a powerful effect, but it lacks the stats to go along with that effect.
Scary Moth is kind of cool. Though limiting summons is stupid, so I won’t be using it.
Genetic Woman can recover banished Psychic monsters, but I have better cards for it.
Iron Core Luster can negate Spells or Traps, so that is cool, but I have better cards for that.
White Potan is trash.
Fane the Steel Chain can attack directly, but it lacks in stats.
And Jester Lord can be powerful, gaining 1000 attack for each spell/trap on the field, but only when it is the only monster on the field. Which makes it basically useless.
Next pack
Fishborg Blaster is great. … well, not for me, but it got banned in the TCG for being too good. For me it is just an average tuner.
Koa'ki Meiru Boulder is good. … or it would have been had it come out in 2005. It didn’t, so it is kind of slow.
Silver Wing is nice. Protecting a Synchro Dragon from battle destruction might be useful sometimes. And it also just is a silvery wing.
Shiny Black "C" might be my first "C" monster. Sadly it is super situational, and I’ll likely never use it.
Battle Teleportation is awful. One direct attack, but after that you have to give that monster to your opponent. That attack better end the duel.
Sauropod Brachion is a big dinosaur, but sadly it isn’t very good.
Next pack.
Sword of Sparkles is a mediocre equip spell. Like it isn’t bad, but it could be so much better.
And Skill Successor is an attack point boost that isn’t large enough to be significant.
Next pack.
Rekindling is OP. Well, kind of. It requires a lot of setup, but once you’ve done that, it is just a Soul Charge with no cost
Morphtronic Magnen Bar sucks.
Water Hazard is okay, but completely unnecessary for me.
Core Blaster is a bad equip spell.
Cyborg Doctor is way too specific to be good.
Slip of Fortune can protect a monster you control, while also negating an attack, but I’d honestly rather just use Negate Attack or Waboku.
At One With the Sword is actually a decent attack boost, and then the draw 1 when the equipped monster destroys a monster by battle. That is pretty good.
And Falchion Beta is a spaceship, so good to have it in the armada.
Next pack.
Divine Dragon Aquabizarre sounds powerful, but it is actually trash.
Pixie Ring is actually decent, protecting my weaker monsters.
Brain Research Lab is decent. You can put counters on it instead of paying HP for Psychic monsters effects. … though I don’t need to pay the HP costs because of Health Conscious.
And Flamvell Firedog is a good boy. He does his job and he does it well. He is also a flaming dog. I wonder if Agunan would want a pet dog?
Next pack.
Flamvell Counter is okay. It does stop spells and traps, but again, I do have better cards for that.
And Magicat is okay, but a bit too specific.
Next pack.
Spirit Burner sucks and Pseudo Space isn’t that good either.
Next pack.
Ancient Leaf is kind of like Pot of Greed. … if you look at it that way. But it isn’t bad.
And Ancient Crimson Ape is actually kind of nice. Good attack and a decent effect.
Ten packs down, ten to go. Only got one higher rarity card from the first ten, and I didn’t even get a Synchro monster.
Well, hopefully the next ten will be a bit better.
Release Restraint Wave is another Feather Duster replacement which is way worse than Feather Duster.
Infernity Beast is also decent, preventing any sort of counters to its attacks, as long as I have no cards in hand.
Depth Amulet is just no. I don’t want it, I don’t need it.
Flamvell Commando is trash. Why can’t it be special summoned? Why do you have to specifically tribute a Flamvell for the summon? Why is its effect so bad? And why is it an ultra rare despite being awful?
Reinforce Truth is okay at least.
Next pack.
Koa'ki Meiru Tornado is kind of nice. It can destroy all special summoned monsters your opponent controls.
Discord on the other hand sucks. It does stop all Synchro summons, but how often do people in this world synchro with a spirit? Like very rarely.
Next pack.
A Major Upset is interesting, but too situational.
Advance Draw can make me pack tokens, and since I don’t have to tribute for LV.8 monsters, it is actually usable. I’ll leave it for Laura to see if it is worth being used.
And Gaap the Divine Soldier is kind of good. Forcing people to attack position does make them lower their guard a lot.
Next pack.
XX-Saber Fulhelmknight is good. Two nice effects, and it is a tuner. The only bad thing is the attack stat, but that can always be boosted with equip spells.
Next pack.
Turbo Rocket is a tuner with a bad effect. But it is a tuner. … yeah, doesn’t make it good.
But Gaia Plate the Earth Giant is OP. 2800 attack and it halves the opponents attack when it battles. This thing is crazy good in any sort of beatdown format.
Next pack.
Psychic Emperor is okay. It does give you a nice heal on summon.
Next pack.
Okay. That is the first pack with nothing new.
Next pack.
Nothing new here. Next.
Kuribon is new, and it actually has a nice effect. It can heal an opponent equal to the power they can put into an attack, and that is kind of nice.
Next pack. And this is the last one.
Almost said nothing new, but Fossil Dig is new. … and I guess it is alright. I can get Dinosaurs with it.
But still kind of disappointed. 20 packs and not a single Synchro. Sure I got Gaia Plate the Earth Giant, but it isn’t a Synchro.
Well, let’s just summon the Synchro monsters I got yesterday so I can get the next reward for the Synchro challenge.
I started the Synchro spam by summoning T.G. Hyper Librarian. I’m going to be summoning some Synchro monsters, so I might as well get some Pack tokens out of it.
I then summoned Dark End Dragon. Then Hundred Eyes Dragon, Lightning Warrior, Seven Swords Warrior and X-Saber Souza.
Then as the last one for this set, well, I’ll summon the reward after I claim it, I summoned my Stardust Dragon.

Next Reward: Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon + The White Stone of Ancients |
… Yeah. Of course it do be like that. I’m at 24/25, so I can’t even get the reward. And it is Blue-Eyes out of all things.
And I know what you are saying. Just summon Quasar and you’ll get it. Well, there is one little problem with that.
I do actually have a Synchro Tuner, that isn’t the problem. Garden Rose Flora is a Synchro Tuner.
The problem is, all my Synchro monsters are level 5 or higher. And 5+5+5 > 12. So I can’t summon Quasar.
… except maybe I can. I have a spell, or three, that lower the level of monsters I control. … so.
I quickly summoned out Garden Rose Flora. I already had T.G. Hyper Librarian out on the field, so I summoned Magical Android to be the third LV.5 monster.
I then used Level Tuning to reduce the level of all my monsters by 1, so I now had three LV.4 Synchro monsters, one of which is also a Tuner.
“Garden Rose Flora, tune with T.G. Hyper Librarian and Magical Android!” I called out.
“When the gathering stars become one, a new bond will illuminate the future! Become the path its light shines upon! Delta Accel Synchro! The light of evolution, Shooting Quasar Dragon!”
With the strongest Synchro monster summoned, I was ready to call it a day, but when I unsummoned my Quasar Dragon, something I didn’t expect, but something I should have expected happened.
Shooting Quasar Dragon’s last effect activated. When this card leaves the field: You can Special Summon 1 ‘Shooting Star Dragon’.
And so, a Shooting Star Dragon appeared where my Quasar Dragon was just a moment ago.
I realized that the Shooting Star Dragon wasn’t in a sleeve, so if I didn’t take advantage of this situation, I wouldn’t get to keep it.
So I quickly got out a Compulsory Evacuation Device and used it to return the Shooting Star Dragon to my Collection, where I then put it into a sleeve and a toploader.
I then claimed the 25 Synchro summons reward, and prepared to summon two more monsters.
Using a Blue-Eyes White Dragon and The White Stone of Ancients to summon Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon was no issue, so I did that first.
But to properly Synchro summon Shooting Star Dragon, I had to play around a bit.
I first used Monster Reborn to call back my Synchro Tuner, Garden Rose Flora. I then used a copy of Level Retuner to lower its level by 2. Then I just used it and my Stardust Dragon, which was LV.7 because of the earlier Level Tuning, to Accel Synchro summon Shooting Star Dragon.
And with that, I once again have summoned all of my Synchro monsters. So the only thing left is to check my next reward and hope that it is something interesting.

Oh? So they printed the Earthbound Servant monsters. That’s cool.
Well, I need some more Synchro monsters before I can get those, but yeah. They are going to be cool to have.
