CH.476 Star Dragons are Overpowered
“... Yeah. This isn’t balanced at all. How in the world?”
{Master. I don’t think you should question it. Just accept it.} Shooting Quasar Dragon said with his bellowing voice.
I guess I never mentioned how large Shooting Quasar Dragon is. Well, he is massive. One of the largest dragons I can summon. Part of it is just his body structure and part is just how he ‘stands’, but he is almost 50 meters tall in my patented dragon scale.
As a reminder, the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragons are around 30 meters.
Stardust Dragon is decently regular sized, only about 17 meters. Shooting Star is right about 24 meters.
But yeah. Quasar is massive, and is the largest Dragon-type monster I can summon. … at least I think so. Haven’t summoned Malefic Truth Dragon yet. But Quasar is quite a bit larger than the Five-Headed Dragon, who is only about 35 meters.
Five-Headed is still more intimidating though.
But enough with the dragons’ sizes, that isn’t what has me flabbergasted. What is breaking my mind is the ability my Star Dragons, that is Stardust Dragon, Shooting Star Dragon and Shooting Quasar Dragon, have.
They can just convert titanium into star titanium. For ‘free’. It is actually free in every way that matters, it just takes them some time. Each of them can convert some amount of it during the two hours they can stay summoned.
Stardust Dragon can only convert about 2 kilos of the stuff, which is nice, but nothing compared to the two big boys.
Shooting Star can deal with about 8 to 10 kilos of titanium, depending on the quality of the stuff. Shooting Quasar Dragon … well, he can turn upwards of 50 kilos of titanium into star titanium during a single summoning. And the stuff he makes is flawless in quality, even if he starts off with intermediate quality titanium.
And it isn’t like I hate the convenience, it is just … man Wilma will hate it when I tell her about this. She has been optimizing our star titanium recipe since she got the blessing of Athena, and now it is entirely worthless. Just because my monsters are overpowered.
Well, I guess Wilma can always publish her research. She might even get some recognition for it.
Talking about overpowered Synchro monsters, T.G. Hyper Librarian quickly became Tahlia’s favorite monster because of all the knowledge he had.
He was really able to improve our programs, such as the airship mapping program we have, and even things like the dimensional telescope. It really makes me want to have more T.G. monsters.
But wait, because there are more overpowered monsters I now have access to, thanks to what happened two chapters ago.
Sephylon, the Ultimate Timelord is absolutely retardedly good when it comes to Time Magic, so he became my new Time Magic teacher. With the divine sleeve he now has, he can even ‘break the world’ and use some time travel magic.
… though admittedly he can only send items forward or backwards in time, not people. But still, in theory, he could send a letter back in time and cause some sort of massive paradox.
… unless I have an item like that already and I just haven’t realized. Well, I probably don’t have one, so I probably don’t have to send something back in time to avoid a paradox of me not sending said something back in time.
Continuing on, Dragonic Knight and Van'Dalgyon the Dark Dragon Lord, especially the latter, had some good knowledge when it came to making armor or tools out of dragon scales.
And I don’t know if you remember or not, but I have an entire molting, or evolution, worth of Lady Janina’s scales in my Storage, and she wanted me to make some armor out of them.
I just never did, because I didn’t really know how to work with dragon scales, but now, we can start looking into that.
We’ll start off with Agunan’s scales and make a set of armor for Ria, because they should be the easier of the two to work with. And if/when we succeed in that, we’ll move on to making something for me from Lady Janina’s scales.
But wait, and I know you are going to hate me for this, there is actually even more. Mainly the three Meklords I got.
Meklords, as you might know, counter Synchro monsters. Which means they counter spirit synchros. So they were able to teach me how to make a device that can capture people who are in a spirit synchro.
Cailie was our ‘willing’ test subject for the device and it worked out. … the Factory version did. I’m not sure if I’ll even make one in the real world, because I have cards I can use instead, but at least I can produce one if we ever need one.
… by the way, I had to bribe Cailie with intimacy to agree to the tests. Though honestly, I feel like she would have agreed anyway, she just wanted some fun time with me.
Last, and probably also least, is The Supremacy Sun. He just showed me how to make a false star.
Yeah. Just that. I mean, it is nothing much, right?
But because of that info, I replaced the dungeon made fake light with a false star that would now give light to the CropFields. It will hopefully improve either the quality, quantity or growth speed of the CropField crops.
And then there are the two new Egyptian God cards. I really wasn’t sure what I should even do with the two, but luckily two morons, two very smart and powerful dragons, knew what to do with them.
Yeah, you guessed it. When Agunan and Lady Janina heard I had new Divine-Beast monsters, they both wanted to fight them.
So I grabbed Agunan and Ria, because Ria wanted to come with us, and headed over to the Dragon coast.
I actually wanted to play with the younger dragons first, because they can be impatient, but Lady Janina just roared at them, and they made way for her.
{Brian. You know what to do. I’m waiting.} She told me.
“... Alright. Let’s do this.” I was honestly excited. I quickly summoned three tributes so I could summon one of my gods. “I tribute Petit Dragon, Decoy Dragon and Hardened Armed Dragon.” And now, it was time to chant.
“O great dragon of death and sky
Hear my call from the heavens up high
Appear, shrouded in clouds and thunder
Show them all your amazing power
Descend from the sky as I call thy name
Come forth and bless our game
Slifer the Sky dragon!”
I then watched as clouds appeared from nowhere, and with them came striking thunder. Each strike shook the air itself, as the might of the Divine-Beast was not only heard, but also felt.
Then the thunder stopped, and the world went quiet, as Slifer the Sky dragon split the clouds and appeared before us.
And he is another large monster. He was almost as long as Lady Janina’s serpentine body. … but only almost. I think they would be the same size had Lady Janina not evolved.
But size doesn’t matter, power does. And you all should know how Slifer’s attack and defense points are determined. So I got six cards out of Collection and held them in my hand, giving Slifer the Sky Dragon 6000 attack and defense. I could have had more, but I think 6000 is a good start.
Slifer also has the additional buff from Hardened Armed Dragon, since I used it as one of the tributes, so Slifer cannot be destroyed by card effects. Which should mean he is pretty much magic immune. It isn’t 1 to 1, but close enough.
Also, one more reason for the 6000 attack stat. I know Lady Janina can take on monsters like Uria, Lord of Searing Flames, even when it has 10,000 attack. But I’m not sure how Hardened Armed Dragon, and Slifer’s attack being original attack, not boosted attack figures out to all of that.
So yeah. Time to watch the fireworks.
I brought a floating chair out of Storage, offered one to Ria, got out some snacks, including some popcorn, and sat down to enjoy the show.
And what a show it was. Slifer with 6000 attack and Hardened Armed Dragon effect was a decent match to Lady Janina when it came to power and breath attacks. The advantage Slifer had were the ‘second mouth’ attacks.
You know, the ‘If a monster(s) is Normal or Special Summoned to your opponent's field in Attack Position: That monster(s) loses 2000 ATK’.
Except that my Slifer could use that effect whenever it wanted, so when it … I’ll be calling him him from now on. So when he realized that he wasn’t quite as powerful as Lady Janina, he began to spam those while abusing his magic resistance.
Lady Janina ended up winning the fight, as expected, by simply outspeeding Slifer to a level where I honestly couldn’t follow her at all. It looked like she teleported, but she didn’t, because I could feel the shockwave from her movements a few seconds later.
She is just way too strong. Well, whatever. I do have a second monster for her. And the Sun God will need a bit more than 6000 attack, so I’ll have to pick my tributes carefully.
{Not bad. He was strong. What about the other ones?} Lady Janina asked.
“I won’t summon some of them, but I do have a second Divine-Beast for you to play with.” I answered. I then summoned three Blue-Eyes White Dragons to act as the tributes. That way, this next beast will have 9000 attack.
“I tribute my three Blue-Eyes White Dragons.” I said, as I placed the card onto my duel disk. And even before I ever chanted anything, we could feel the change in the air.
It got hot. Like extremely hot. Maybe because it looked, and felt, like a piece of the Sun itself had detached and had come down to burn as all for our insolence.
When the shine finally subsided a bit, we could see the shining ball, or Sphere Mode Ra in front of us. Didn’t expect that, but anime bullshit is a thing, so…
{Is that it? Doesn’t look like much of a fighter.} Lady Janina commented. {It did warm up the area nicely.}
“No. He is still sleeping. Let me wake him up.” I said.
“Almighty protector of the sun and sky,
I beg of thee, please heed my cry.
Transform thyself from orb of light and bring me victory in this fight.
Envelope this coast with your glow and cast your might upon my foe.
Unlock your powers from deep within so that together we may win.
As I am the one that calls out thy name, Winged Dragon of Ra!”
[Please note that like with Obelisk the Tormentor and a lot of the other Divine-Beast monsters, I’m using the anime version or Ra, so it has like All the effects of every Ra version there is. Sphere Mode, Immortal Phoenix and regular Ra.]
As my Mega Ultra Chicken, I mean Winged Dragon of Ra unfolded itself from its sphere mode, I could see Lady Janina once again get excited. She really wanted to fight this God didn’t she. And yes, Ra is a God with a big G. Not a god like the other Divine-Beasts I have. Ra deserves the big G.
“So, how is that?” I asked Lady Janina.
{Much more like it.} She responded.
And so, the show was once again on.
… And I will fully admit, I may have flown a bit too close to the action, because basically as soon as the two began to clash, I had to back away, or risk getting a bit more than sun burns.
Because the flames Ra was shooting out were so hot that even Agunan had to back away.
The fight between Lady Janina and Ra raged on for well over thirty minutes, and during that time, the ground below their clash had melted and formed a pool of lava below them.
But none of you care about that, you care about how the fight ended. … And it didn’t quite end as you may have guessed.
Because while Lady Janina did beat Ra, sending him plummeting down into the lava below them, Ra wasn’t out of the fight just yet.
Because Ra is the Immortal Phoenix, and like one, he returned from the magma, with his entire body made of flames.
His flaming form then engulfed Lady Janina, badly burning the divine dragon, but this was a suicide mission for Ra as well. His last swan song. Because while it was now Lady Janina’s turn to take a fall towards the magma, Ra’s flaming form also disappeared.
It took me maybe a second to realize that Lady Janina was injured maybe a bit more than she should have, so I quickly got out of my chair and with all the skills I had, I shot towards her so I could stop her fall.
I never actually figured out that I can use Flickering Step while flying, but I guess this is about as good of time as any to figure it out, so before Lady Janina crashed into the magma, I was between her and the molten stone, trying to hold up her enormous body.
… Honestly speaking, it might have not been the best idea, but what was I supposed to do? Just watch as she sinks into the magma? I couldn’t do that.
I generated as many Magical Arms as I could, while also quick swapping my own race to Multi-Armed, so I’d have more hands to hold up Lady Janina with, but it wasn’t helping. At the end of the day, it is still just a person holding up a dragon, and even with my Mana Flight and Telekinesis, I simply couldn’t hold both of us up, and we were quickly approaching the molten ground.
Fuck! I need to do something. I can … Fuck! What can I do? What can I summon? I don’t have the time. Before I summon anything, we’ll be in the magma. And none of my set cards can protect me from the environment.
I looked towards Agunan. He was flying towards us quickly, but he won’t make it either. I need something NOW.
I then realized it. My duel disk. It isn’t a duel disk. So with no hesitation, I activated maybe the most useful feature my not a duel disk had.
From the point of view of Agunan and the other dragons on the coast, the two of us disappeared. But from my point of view, we got out of a situation that was about to get too hot to handle.
