Yugioh Card Summoner

CH.496 Completing Raging Battle and Ancient Prophecy

With the tournament over, we are back on HomeBase. And HomeBase has been moved away from the Castle dungeon so the area where the dungeons collect creation energy from doesn’t overlap too much.

And being back home means that I can do what I want, and I’m feeling some packs today.

I have three sets I haven’t completed, though I have unlocked a decent amount of each of them, so what I think I’ll do is just speedrunning at least one of them. Maybe two, depending on how long it takes.

So let’s start with Raging Battle. 200 packs will do.

Spoiler

Got 16 new cards from that. I guess that is okay. Let’s go over them.

Berserking is a mediocre power boost to one monster, while weakening another.

Moja is … okay, I suppose. GY recovery after getting destroyed by battle isn’t that bad.

One for One is God tier in the TCG, but for me it is just okay. Yes, I can use it to make new LV.1 monsters, but they will still have to be monsters I can access from the unlocked sets.

Torapart is a tuner with a mediocre disruption effect. It isn’t bad, just not great.

King of the Beasts is a decent beater, and it can special summon itself by tributing a Moja on the field. Of course the special summon effect doesn’t matter to me, but it isn’t a bad monster.

Battlestorm is good. Good stats, gains more attack for each Winged Beast you control. And can destroy Spells/Traps if you control more than 3 Winged Beasts.

Chaos-End Master does have a good effect, Special Summon 1 Level 5 or higher monster with 1600 or less ATK from your Deck. It has some interesting targets. But it does have to destroy a monster by battle for the effect and with just 1500 attack, that isn’t the easiest. It is still a LV.3 Warrior Tuner, so despite the effect being situational, it is good.

Koa'ki Meiru War Arms could be good. If it wasn’t limited to LV.3 and below warriors. If it could equip Warrior-type monsters of any level, it could actually get pretty powerful. But as it stands, it is bad.

Koa'ki Meiru Powerhand is actually quite nice. 2100 attack on a LV.4. And the only bad effect it has is having to reveal a Normal Trap card in your hand, during the end phase, or it is destroyed. And to make it even better, Powerhand negates the on field effects of Light and Dark attribute monsters it battles. Nice.

Reinforced Human Psychic Borg has a decent attack gain effect. 500 attack by just banishing a Psychic from the GY. That is good. And it isn’t for the turn, but permanently.

Sea Dragon Lord Gishilnodon is a Synchro, which is nice, but its effect is meh. But it looks cool, so I may use it from time to time.

Blackwing Armed Wing is … I was gonna say great, but it is just alright. Gaining attack and dealing piercing damage is nice, but not enough to be great.

Grave of the Super Ancient Organism is kind of trash. Monsters still don’t have levels, only dungeon and fissure monsters count as ‘special summoned’, and again, monsters don’t have levels! And there are no ‘special summoned’ people. So literally useless.

Strong Wind Dragon is okay. It gains half the attack of the dragon used as a tribute for it, so it can get pretty strong. But I’m not sure if it is worth it to sacrifice a 5000 attack monster, just so I can summon a 4900 attack one.

Blackwing - Elphin the Raven can summon itself without a tribute, which already doesn’t matter to me. And it can change the battle position of monsters, which again, doesn’t matter. And it doesn’t have amazing stats. So it is bad.

And last, Forbidden Chalice. It is kind of nice. Since it negates effects, it should negate skills. So I can just target someone, negate all their skills, and in return, all they get is 400 Strength. Sign me up for that. I might even look at installing the card into myself for a skill that can turn off the skills of others.

Spoiler

Now, a quick check on how many cards I’m missing from this set, and I’ll decide if I’ll do another 200 packs.

And the answer is, no, I won’t be doing that. I’m only missing 8 cards, so I’ll just get them with Capsules.

Starting off Exploder Dragonwing. It's nice. Good attack, decent effect.

Trident Dragion. Why is it Dragion and not dragon? It does have 3k attack, and can attack up to three times, but it is a little too demanding for that effect.

Sphere of Chaos is bad. Terrible stats for a LV.5 and the effects it has just aren’t that good.

Immortal Ruler is meh. All it does is recover Zombie World.

Overwhelm is fine, but a bit situational.

Beast Striker is okay. It can special summon Mojas from the deck, but I don’t really need that ability.

Koa'ki Meiru Valafar is bad. It demands way too much for way too little payoff.

And Swallow's Nest allows for the tributing of a Winged Beast, so that another one, with the same level, can be special summoned from the deck. Which isn’t bad, just not something I need.

Spoiler

And that is Raging Battle complete. And I think I have time for another set, so let’s move onto Ancient Prophecy.

Spoiler

Got 14 new cards.

Ancient Fairy Dragon is nice. I like the design. The additional summon is unnecessary, and the field spell destroying effect might be useful in some situations.

Solidarity is amazing, and I love Solidarity beatdown. It’s just fun.

Darksea Rescue is mid, but I guess free Pack tokens are free pack tokens.

Kasha is a potentially large beater, but honestly speaking, I probably won’t be using it. Unless I have to fight a master necromancer or something. Is there even necromancy magic? I’ve never run into books about it, but maybe they are just carefully controlled.

XX-Saber Gardestrike is decent in the TCG, because it can special summon itself, but for me, it is just a meh beater.

White Night Dragon is a Water attributed Blue-Eyes with an effect. So I do like it, just … it isn’t a Blue-Eyes. Still a cool monster. … because it is made of ice.

Turbo Cannon is fine. The 0/0 stat line does hurt it a bit, and it really should Synchro Tuner. Sadly it isn’t, but the effect is decent.

Archfiend Zombie-Skull is fine. Protects your zombies from card effects, which means they are protected against magic. Really good monster.

Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua is an Earthbound Immortal, so it is automatically quite good. The burn effect it has is nice, and all of the usual Earthbound Immortal effects are also good.

Earthbound Immortal Cusillu is dumb. Why does an Earthbound Immortal need an effect that protects it from being destroyed by battle? Your opponent cannot target it for attacks in the first place. Would you really ram this thing into an opponent's monster with more than 2800 attack, then tribute a monster, only to keep this monkey on the field and halve your opponent’s life points? Why would you do all of that when you can just attack directly and get basically the same effect.

Koa'ki Meiru Gravirose is pretty bad. Its effect triggers during your standby phase, so you have to keep it on the field for the duration of your opponent’s turn. And all you get is a Foolish Burial of a LV.3 or lower monster. Not worth it.

Koa'ki Meiru Ghoulungulate is a bit better, because it does protect your Koa'ki Meiru monsters from being destroyed by battle, and the cost of banishing Koa'ki Meiru monster from the GY isn’t too bad.

XX-Saber Gottoms is amazing in the TCG. His effect isn’t once per turn, so if you can loop your X-Saber monsters, you can just force your opponent to discard their entire hand. 3100 attack is also nice, and it is decently generic.

Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor sounds decent at first, but then you realize you can’t use it as a Synchro material on the field. And even if you use it as one from the GY, the Synchro you summon doesn’t get properly summoned, and its effects are negated. So Vayu is not worth using.

Spoiler

And after a quick check, I’m only missing six cards, so I’m getting them one by one.

Starting off Elemental HERO Gaia. It is fine, but I wish the attack increase would be permanent.

Greed Grado is way too situational.

Card Guard is fine.

Card Blocker is trying to be a Card Trooper, but it sucks at it.

Ancient Forest is interesting, but I need to experiment with it before I put it to real world use.

And then we have the big boy. Or man. Or Phantasm. The (almost) all-mighty, Armityle the Chaos Phantasm. He naturally comes packing the Divine-Beast effect. And since my cards tend to use their more powerful anime effects, when possible, Armityle does come with its anime effect, instead of its usual effect.

Spoiler

And yes. I know this means that Janina will eventually challenge Armityle. But luckily I learned from Ra, and I won’t let the two fight outside of the Factory.

Admittedly, I’m not sure how the match will go. If this was the regular TCG Armityle, I think Janina would win, because she could copy its stat up, but since this is the anime Armityle, there is a full possibility Janina will actually lose.

But yeah. That will be all for today. Next time … I’ll do something. Probably will summon the Synchroes I got, so I can get the next few rewards.
