Chapter 55 - (1)
An Yun was already nimble in doing things, but when he heard Zang Ya would tell him everything during the meal, his movements became even more agile.
It only took An Yun a quarter of an hour to go in, change clothes, and wash up.
An Yun took care of himself and looked at Zang Ya, who was drinking tea leisurely at the table outside. He didn’t know why he suddenly breathed a sigh of relief, stopped in his hurry, straightened his clothes, and then walked to Zang Ya’s room. He sat down next to him.
An Yun sat down beside Zang Ya and greeted him.
Zang Ya didn’t say anything, just looked at him.
Seeing that Zang Ya was merely staring without speaking, An Yun couldn’t help but feel a little confused and hesitantly asked, “What’s wrong?”
Zang Ya didn’t answer but stretched out his hand to straighten An Yun’s turned-out collar under his surprised gaze.
The clothes were light and thin, and Zang Ya didn’t avoid it. His fingertips touched An Yun’s skin, causing him to feel a slight numbness.
When Zang Ya sat up straight, An Yun still felt the warmth of Zang Ya’s recent touch lingering on his neck. He looked up at Zang Ya and saw him sitting there with a rather neutral expression.
An Yun thought for a moment but felt that what had just happened was probably Zang Ya’s usual self, and he shouldn’t overthink it.
An Yun whispered, “Thank you, young master.”
Zang Ya turned to look at him, tilted his head, and replied quickly, “You’re welcome.”
While the two were talking, the servants had already brought the food to the table.
Smelling the delicious food, and thinking of the injuries Zang Ya had suffered yesterday, An Yun wanted to ask why but instead suggested that they eat first and save the discussion for after the meal.
Zang Ya naturally agreed.
Since Zang Ya was unwell, today’s breakfast consisted of nourishing dishes, such as stewed chicken with red dates and stuffed osmanthus and dates.
An Yun first served Zang Ya a bowl of soup, watched him drink it, and then began to eat his own.
After both of them finished eating, they rested for a while and took turns drinking their respective medicines. This was when they were done.
During this period, Zang Ya also dealt with Old Madam Zang and the people she sent by to check on his condition. He accepted the supplements they sent and instructed them to return and report that he was much better today.
An Yun listened to the flowing tonic and heard that Old Madam Zang was a little tired today because she had watched over Zang Ya for half the night yesterday. She asked Zang Ya to rest well today and not go to see her.
As for Zang Ke, he had also guarded Zang Ya alongside his mother yesterday. He originally wanted to come over today to check on him. However, something important came up with the government early that morning, and the assassins needed to be investigated, so he didn’t come either today.
Zang Ya listened to these updates with a calm expression, and finally asked the servants to relay the message that he could take care of himself and that they didn’t have to worry.
After the servant took the order and left, An Yun looked at Zang Ya, wanting to suggest that he take a rest. However, Zang Ya simply stretched out his hand toward him, smiled slightly, and said, “Come on, I will take you for a walk. By the way, let me tell you what happened this time.”
An Yun nodded toward him, hesitated for a moment, then took his hand and followed him outside.
It was already the end of summer, and although the weather was hot during the day, it was also turning cooler. The temperature at this time was neither cold nor hot, and the occasional breeze carried a hint of grass, making people feel extremely comfortable.
As Zang Ya led An Yun out, Snowball, who had been eating at the door, finished his meal. He stretched out his paws, plucked the fur around his mouth, looked up at the door, and a flicker of curiosity flashed in his round eyes. Then he raised his paws and followed.
An Yun was still pondering how to ask Zang Ya later without making him feel uncomfortable when he felt something rubbing against his feet. The familiar furry touch made him smile.
Looking down, he saw Snowball rubbing against him. The moment he lowered his head, he met Snowball’s gaze.
Meeting An Yun’s eyes, Snowball’s beautiful eyes lit up, and he called out, “Meow~.”
An Yun looked at the snowball-like kitten and felt his heart melt. He instinctively reached out to pick him up.
Snowball was a clingy little kitten who loved to be hugged.
However, An Yun momentarily forgot that his other hand was still being held. He only reacted when he felt himself being pulled.
An Yun twitched. Not only did he could not pull his hand out of Zang Ya’s grasp, but he also felt the pressure holding his hand tighten slightly.
He raised his head and looked at Zang Ya, puzzled, and saw Zang Ya quietly say, “This little fat cat has only been here for a short time, and it has already gained several kilograms. I think its belly is almost dragging on the floor. Just let it walk on its own; you don’t want to tire yourself out, and it needs to lose some weight.”
After saying that, Zang Ya seemed to worry that Snowball would rub against An Yun again, so he lifted Snowball’s belly with his foot and moved him farther away.
Snowball was a kitten with a good temperament and a carefree nature; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been so well-raised by An Yun in just a few days.
At this moment, being pushed away by Zang Ya’s foot, Snowball didn’t feel angry. He looked confused for a moment, then blinked his big eyes, tilting his head in An Yun’s direction, unsure about this human. Why wouldn’t he hug him?
In the past, whenever he rubbed against someone like this, they would rush to pick him up. Why was today different?
An Yun felt that Zang Ya didn’t seem to like Snowball very much, and the only reason he kept him around was because of An Yun. If Snowball were to annoy Zang Ya at this moment, Zang Ya might take the opportunity to get rid of him later.
Meeting Snowball’s pure and innocent eyes, An Yun felt a pang of guilt but still didn’t refute Zang Ya’s words. He nodded and said, “Okay, I won’t hug Snowball; he can just follow me.”
Zang Ya, who had been considering moving the little chubby cat further away to prevent it from rubbing against An Yun again, or perhaps letting his servants carry it away, relaxed upon hearing An Yun’s words.
Immediately, Zang Ya said to An Yun, “In that case, let it follow us! It can walk on its own.”
“Um.”
An Yun couldn’t shake the feeling that it was his own misunderstanding, but he always sensed that Zang Ya’s mood brightened a bit after he agreed to those words, and there was a hint of pride in that sentence.
