After Dressing Up As a Little Fulang

Chapter 55 - (2)

Zang Ya took An Yun for a walk. Their journey wasn’t limited to their yard but extended outwards.

Thanks to Zang Ya, An Yun realized just how vast the Zang family estate was. He felt as if he had only seen one-tenth of it.

There were many more places that An Yun had assumed were not part of the Zang Mansion, but upon opening the door, he discovered they were indeed within the territory of the Zang family, which truly opened his eyes.

An Yun suddenly understood why there were many famous ladies in ancient times who could never leave the house. The house was big enough. After eating three meals a day and doing other things, there was no time to go out.

While An Yun was complaining, Zang Ya took him to a garden, where there were lush vegetation, blooming flowers, and even a small river with a boat for three people floating on it.

He could also see some golden pheasants and rabbits walking among the trees, mandarin ducks playing on the river, and even peacocks under the shade of the trees nearby.

It didn’t look like a garden but could be compared to some small parks, and it even had a zoo.

As soon as they entered, Snowball, who had been staying at An Yun’s feet and nuzzling the fragrant scent from time to time, stared intently at a butterfly not far away and then pounced on it with its round belly. When it landed on the ground, the four of his paws sprawled out, obviously stunned.

An Yun couldn’t help laughing when he saw it. He thought Snowball looked so funny.

Snowball was a forgetful little kitten. Although it missed the target, it quickly got up and jumped in another direction. Even after its failure, it did not give up and got up again to continue. After a while, it disappeared into the low jungle, and only the sound of rustling leaves could be heard.

When Zang Ya saw that An Yun had seen enough and had retracted his gaze, he led him toward the other side and came to a pavilion.

Before Zang Ya and An Yun arrived, the accompanying attendants had already made preparations. At this time, the area that should have been bare had been covered with soft cushions and cloth towels, and suitable tea and snacks were placed on them.

An Yun looked at all this and felt surprised. But then he thought about it: there were dozens or hundreds of people in this house just to serve these few masters, so it was difficult not to be meticulous.

After Zang Ya sat down, the maid poured them tea, then he waved her away and looked in An Yun’s direction. “You asked me today who those who attacked me were. Sorry, but I actually have no idea.”

An Yun felt a little embarrassed when he heard this and whispered, “This is something I shouldn’t have asked. Why do you apologize?”

Zang Ya picked up his tea, drank it all in one gulp, pushed the mung bean cake in front of An Yun, then looked at him and said, “However, no matter who wants to kill me, he is almost always a person with a higher status than my father.”

An Yun ate a piece of pastry, but before he could swallow it, he looked up at Zang Ya with doubts in his eyes.

Zang Ya, however, looked at his teacup, thinking about something unknown. Finally, he looked up at An Yun, seemingly determined, and continued, “You know, my Zang family has guarded the local area for generations. After ten generations of descendants, how much wealth has been accumulated?”

An Yun shook his head; how could he know?

“Although every generation of our Zang family have some mad deceases, on the other side of the paranoid side, we are outstanding in culture, Taoism, military strategy, and our business operations are even more orderly. Generation after generation of accumulation, coupled with fewer descendants each time, resulted in wealth that was not used,”

“Today’s wealth is probably dozens of times more than the entire national treasury. The current emperor is fatuous and favoured the imperial concubine alone. He wanted to establish the imperial concubine’s child as the heir apparent, but because there is no one behind the imperial concubine, he was reluctant to act,”

“The empress’ natal family is weak, and all her legitimate sons are dead, so she has to fight for the possibility. But almost all of the princes are about to reach adulthood. Those who reached adulthood already have fiefdoms, while those who haven’t, already have strong maternal families behind them. There is a master in the world, but no successor. Naturally, those who are capable are ready to take action. Within a few years, a battle is bound to break out.

“In this war, whether it is food for the soldiers or equipment for training, they all need money. Before a war begin, naturally, the more money you have, the better prepared you could be.”

“My father and I are the last direct bloodline of the Zang family. When we die, this wealth would become ownerless and could be taken by anyone.”

When Zang Ya said this, his expression was always calm, and no emotion could be heard, as if he were simply describing an insignificant thing.

An Yun listened and didn’t know how to react. In the end, he could only mutter, “How could they do this?!”

This sounded completely like taking advantage of the enemy, and it looked like a direct robbery.

Zang Ya listened to An Yun’s slightly angry tone and turned to look in his direction. Looking at the anger on his face, he showed a slight smile. “Why not? In this world, there are always predators of the weak. It makes sense. It’s God’s blessing that the Zang family has lasted for so many generations.”

Although Zang Ya felt that judging from the causes of death of their Zang family members in the past, it would be more appropriate to say it was a curse. Just for these reasons, he subconsciously avoided it and did not tell An Yun.
