Chapter 117: Chapter 117
"Is this rock big enough?" Sukimori who was carrying a large rock from one of the exhibitions nearby stopped beside a slide in the waterpark.
Biting his lip, Aka Manto peered at the rock for a while and gave the fox a thumbs up. "Perfect." He couldn't wait to see the rock sliding down. The reactions will be priceless!
But the rock was too heavy, Sukimori was struggling to bring it closer to the entrance of the slide. The lifeguard sitting there was too distracted by the music playing in his headphones, unaware of the floating rock that was about to tumble down any second.
The fox swayed from side-to-side. Whatever you do, don't drop this rock! You'll ruin everything!
"What's taking so long Sukimori?" The red clocked entity looked up to see Sukimori fighting a battle against the rock above his head. Was it too heavy? Well, Sukimori should've chosen another one, this is on him.
Ugh I'm more concerned about the lifeguard over there. He doesn't seem to notice but if Sukimori drops the rock it's over. Aka Manto stared at the lifeguard, making sure the man doesn't move an inch from his seat. If he starts changing positions, Sukimori better try jumping down from the tower with the rock in his hold.
Sitting on the seesaw, both Shinobu and Yushiro stared into space, not talking nor moving from their seats. This section placed beside the waterpark was less chaotic than other playgrounds in Dice and Roll Valley.
The two friends were accompanied by a family whose children were busy walking around, digging the sand for 'treasure.' It was entertaining, but remembering the incident on the boat took away their smiles.
"I wonder how Douma and Chachamaru are doing." Shinobu said, looking at the sun. It has been quite sometime.
Yushiro brushed the particles of sand from his index finger, puzzled by how they got there in the first place. He was certain he brushed away the sand before he got on. "I don't wanna leave without them. We still have a few more hours."
Shinobu agreed with Yushiro's statement. "The meteor those guys were talking about, I hope they find it soon."
"Look it's not that I don't trust Atlas. Don't get me wrong, they're cool and all but they seriously need to mind their own business."
Before the violette could respond, Yushiro interrupted her, "This was supposed to be our time not theirs."
"Yushiro, we gotta understand that Douma and Chachamaru agreed to take on the mission." Shinobu replied.
"Whatever I don't care."
Sukimori's legs were trembling from the heavy weight of the rock. He muttered to himself struggling to keep his balance.
"Don't even think about it Sukimori." Aka Manto warned him.
"Uh oh."
The rock fell from the tower it was going to land on the seesaw at the playground beside the waterpark. If it lands the seesaw will be crushed into pieces.
Everyone started screaming. The lifeguard got up from his seat and panicked when he saw the rock falling. "Where did that rock come from?!" He ran down the stairs and alerted everyone to stay away from the playground.
Shinobu and Yushiro looked up and saw a huge rock falling towards them. "We have to get out of here!" The violette yelled.
But Yushiro was too scared to move a muscle. He sat there staring at the rock that was coming closer.
Both Aka Manto and Sukimori hid on the roof of one of the sheds surrounding the place. Fearful of what was going to happen after this. They didn't dare to look in front of them.
A man standing between two trees leaped towards the two friends. "Watch out!" He said, grabbing both Shinobu and Yushiro as he moved them away from the rock that was about to land. He unsheathed his sword and sliced the rock into two pieces, emitting a glistening luminescent glow that blinked once. Shinobu barely had time to process the entire sequence of his heroic actions, the man's movements were really fast, he did everything in a flash.
"Thank you." Shinobu looked at the man, he was really tall with a glossy white and green coat. His shiny brunette hair sparkling and his light green orbs complimenting it.
Everybody gathered around the scene, horrified by the incident. Shinobu was certain she saw the man holding a sword, he appeared to be very skillful. This man must be a swordsman, but was he here for leisure or reasons that the public wasn't aware of? Too many things have happened today, maybe the man was just talking a walk.
Or he could be part of Atlas, at least that's what came to mind. However Mr Oshiro nor the troops mentioned anything about this man's presence to Shinobu and Yushiro.
The man looked at Shinobu and Yushiro for a while, the violette was startled by his observation. Why is he staring at us like that? He was standing there for a while, as though he was studying a specimen in the lab. Shinobu didn't know how to feel about this.
He probably meant no harm, there was no clear expression on his face and he didn't say anything. The man glanced at the roof of the shed and narrowed his eyes which frightened Aka Manto and Sukimori. They didn't expect this encounter.
Without saying a word, the man left leaving Shinobu and Yushiro clueless about what his intentions were.
I think he wanted to ask us something? Looks like it but I'm not really sure. Shinobu saw him walking away with a hand in his pocket. This was strange, could the man be looking for someone? The violette couldn't think of any other reason for him to be here. She observed the man whose back was still facing this part of Dice and Roll Valley until he disappeared down the trail.
Nobody seemed to notice the man was gone, all the people gathered here were busy discussing about how the rock ended up splitting into two which was the man's doing. A few claimed that the mysterious man might have done it but others brushed it away as some mere speculation.
If it's so hard to come down to a proper conclusion than maybe Shinobu was the only one who saw the man holding his sword. She needed to check with Yushiro if he saw it too, there's no way she was seeing things.
"Hey Yushiro that man did you-"
"That guy was holding a sword. I wonder where he got it from." Yushiro stared at the direction the man went, curious about the rest of his skills. That rock was sliced like butter, it was a marvelous sight to behold and Yushiro couldn't stop thinking about it.
Shinobu felt relieved knowing Yushiro saw the sword too. Which that moment didn't catch the attention of people, it was too fast for them to spare some time and look. Everybody was incredibly worried about the rock when it was falling that they completely overlooked one of the most important factors of their discussion. It was a pity but knowing the questions that witnesses will be bombarded with, maybe it's for the best.
Mr Ogata and Ryo happened to be patrolling nearby. "Did you hear that?" Ryo asked Mr Ogata who gazed at the structure of the waterpark they passed by at that moment.
"Yeah I sure did. Sounds like there's a commotion over there."
"We have to check."
Nodding, Mr Ogata followed after Ryo who was more familiar with the whereabouts of Dice and Roll Valley.
On the roof of the shed, Aka Manto and Sukimori were arguing about what happened. They were almost at the verge of beating each other up brutally. The red cloaked entity was disappointed and he couldn't believe they screwed up big time.
"Stupid fool! This is what happens when you're not careful!" Aka Manto shouted at Sukimori who bit his lip in agitation.
"Says the one who came up with the stupid plan! What made you decide to choose the rocks from that place!" The fox shouted back.
"That was YOUR decision!"
"IT WAS YOURS TOO!"
"Grrrrrrr!" The two yokai started beating each other up on the roof. As the brawl escalated they found themselves rolling towards the edge of the roof and fell before they could even react. Their screams filled the forest as a flock of birds started flying away from there.
