Chapter 52: Chapter 52: The Crocodile King Spear

Chapter 52: The Crocodile King Spear

After deciding how to distribute the bear claw, Yang Potian and his father prepared to leave Sunset Forest.

As they walked, Potian asked, "Dad, Tianyue's still young. When do you think she'll be ready to use the spirit bone?"

"I haven't quite decided yet," Zhentian replied. "Probably not for a while."

"It's best to wait until after she reaches Spirit Elder, or even Spirit Ancestor level, before she absorbs it. That way, it'll be safer for her. We should also look into ways to fully fuse the bone with her spirit, and keep it hidden unless absolutely necessary. Otherwise, Tianyue could be in danger."

Zhentian nodded thoughtfully. "You're right; it would be too risky to expose the spirit bone so soon. We won't tell anyone about it. Same goes for your tail bone spirit. It's important you fully integrate it with your body as soon as possible."

"Understood, Dad. I have a plan."

The return trip was much faster; they reached the Yang Clan estate in just a day, finally able to relax. This trip had taken over ten days, and Potian's mother, Niu Jinfeng, was not thrilled with Zhentian. "It was just supposed to be a third ring hunt! How did it take you that long? Are you even capable of handling this or what?"

From now on, Jinfeng declared, she would personally oversee spirit ring hunts for Potian. Zhentian felt a bit wronged, knowing it was only because his son insisted on such a high-quality ring that the process had taken longer.

Nonetheless, the trip had been worth it. Not only did Potian obtain an excellent ring, but he had also gained two external spirit bones. The Earth Demon Bear paw bone especially caught Zhentian's eye, and he would have kept it himself if not for his children. He couldn't deny it: his son was a lucky star.

Back in his room, Potian immediately set to work examining his new tail. Infusing spirit power into it, he watched as the tail gradually extended. It was golden and somewhat smaller than the Golden Crocodile King's tail, as if scaled to fit his body.

As he studied it, Potian realized the tail was made up of many segments, almost like a spine, each seamlessly joined together. He tested its toughness by striking it with his Breaking Soul Spear. The stab caused him some pain, as if the spear had hit a bone, but even so, the attack left only a slight scratch. The tail's defense was formidable.

The deadliest part, however, was its tip. About thirty centimeters long and shaped like a triangular blade, it resembled a three-edged spear and was razor-sharp. He pulled out a piece of thick metal, thrust his tail forward, and the metal was pierced straight through. Potian couldn't help but gulp at the tail's terrifying sharpness—its edge rivaled that of his Breaking Soul Spear.

He then tried whipping the tail across the metal surface. Even with a casual strike, the tail left a scratch. The strength in this tail seemed immense, possibly even surpassing his arm strength.

The Golden Crocodile King was indeed a remarkable metal and strength attribute spirit beast. Whether used like a whip or a spear, this tail was an incredible weapon. If it could one day evolve to the hundred-thousand-year level, it was hard to imagine how powerful it might become.

Potian mused about training with this new tail. "If I could learn Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect's multi-focus technique, I could wield it almost like a second spear. It would be like a two-bladed technique, unstoppable in battle. This tail would truly become an extension of my spear style."

That night, Potian's parents led him to his grandfather's training chamber, where both of his grandfathers were waiting.

"Son, show us that external spirit bone tail of yours. Let's examine it together to find the best way to help you handle it."

Potian hesitated. "Dad, are you serious? This tail has some… drawbacks. I'm not exactly thrilled about exposing myself like this."

Jinfeng immediately raised an eyebrow. "What are you shy about now, Potian? We've all seen you as a baby; it's nothing new."

Potian stifled an inward sigh. When I was six months old, sure, but now? But seeing the determination in everyone's faces, he had little choice but to comply.

Grabbing a pair of scissors, he cut a small hole in the back of his pants and then willed his tail to extend through it.

The sight left everyone speechless. His mother, Jinfeng, was torn between laughter and tears at the sight of her son with a long golden tail.

For the next half-hour, the four of them examined Potian's tail bone, even going so far as to study its root. Potian was thoroughly uncomfortable.

After half an hour of examination, his father instructed, "Wait before you retract it, Potian. We'd like to test its strength and sharpness."

Potian demonstrated the tail's power and sharpness, impressing everyone. His grandfather Yang Wudi remarked, "This tail has incredible potential—its strength and sharpness are exceptional. Since it's an external spirit bone, it'll continue to grow stronger as your spirit power increases. Once it reaches the ten-thousand-year level, who knows what it'll be capable of."

"Grandfather, do you have any advice on training with it? It still feels a bit awkward."

The four exchanged glances before Yang Wudi spoke again, "To gain control over it, you'll need lots of practice. We'll also gather some materials on multi-focus control techniques similar to those of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect. That way, you'll be able to unlock the tail's full potential."

"Multi-focus control? Isn't that a closely guarded technique of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect?"

"Multi-focus control existed among many sects in the past, but none perfected it as the Seven Treasures Sect did. It's highly compatible with their spirits, so it naturally strengthens them. For most other sects, however, the technique offers limited benefits, which is why it's mostly fallen into obscurity. Your second grandfather and I studied similar techniques in our years of traveling and fighting. We should be able to adapt it to help you train."

"Also," Potian added, "the word 'tail' sounds a bit off-putting. I think I'll name it the Crocodile King Spear instead."

Jinfeng smiled approvingly, "That's a wonderful name. It suits your tail perfectly. From now on, we'll call it the Crocodile King Spear."
