Chapter 12 – teardrop necklace

Mira had a hunch about who the person was. Aside from Luna, she couldn't think of anyone who would go to the garden, as their school garden was not a popular place on campus. However, she didn't know why she would want to meet her or why she would have to use this trick just to invite her. ' There's no way she would confess, right? ' Somehow, Mira's ears turned red thinking of this ambiguous way of inviting her.

She fanned her face when she felt a little hot, looked around, and thankfully saw only a few people there. She didn't want to be seen like this. She shook her head to stop thinking and decided she would just ask Luna directly later.

Mira went to the faculty room and met her professor. They talked for a while before Mira left. She looked at the time and saw it was still early, but since she had nothing to do, she went to the cafeteria to buy milk tea. Then, she went directly to the garden, where she unexpectedly found someone already there.

She walked towards the bench, looked around, saw no one else there, and sat down without saying anything.

"You came so early?" Luna asked in shock.

"You're the one who invited me here?" Mira asked knowingly.

"Yeah," Luna replied.

Mira hesitated, and Luna, seeing her confusion, asked, "Why? What's wrong?"

"Your way of inviting... is quite unique," Mira remarked.

"Huh?" Luna was puzzled.

Mira looked at Luna and saw that she was really confused, so she handed the pink letter with hearts to Luna.

Luna froze as soon as she saw the pink letter. Anyone who saw it would automatically think it was a love letter, and Luna was no exception. She reluctantly took the letter, opened it, read it, and couldn't help but blush.

'Prima and Tina, you two are dead,' Luna thought to herself. She pursed her lips, feeling awkward. She didn't know how to explain it, as she was not aware of Prima and Tina's plan. All she knew was that she had to come at 2 p.m., as Prima had instructed.

"If I said I didn't know anything about this, would you believe it?" Luna asked.

Mira kept silent and watched Luna struggle. Luna finally explained, "Believe me, I actually asked my friend to help me invite you since... since... I don't know how to invite you."

Unexpectedly, Mira found Luna cute and even thought of teasing her. "Oh? I thought you would really confess to me," Mira teased.

"What?! What are you talking about?!" Luna was scared by Mira's words, wondering why Mira would think the same as Prima. But thinking of the love letter, it actually made sense.

Luna heard Mira laugh and saw her tear up from laughing. It was the first time she had seen Mira laugh. Mira's eyes also smiled, almost imperceptibly, while her hands were in front of her lips trying to block her smile.

Angry at being teased by Mira, Luna stared at her. Mira, realizing her actions were not in line with her character, was about to talk about a serious matter when she saw Luna looking at her aggrievedly. This time, Mira was stunned and quickly looked away. 'Why is she looking at me like that? She's... too cute... No, how can Luna be so cute?' With this thought in mind, Mira looked at Luna again, but quickly looked away. 'Ahhh!!! Why does Luna look so cute all of a sudden? This is foul!' Mira, who loved cute and soft stuff, couldn't help but soften herself.

Mira straightened her clothes. "I'm just joking. Your friends might have the wrong idea," she said casually, but she didn't look as indifferent now.

"Yes," Luna replied, not knowing what to say next.

"So, why did you invite me here?" Mira inquired.

Luna took the box from her bag. She had already thought of a reason for this gift, hoping that Mira would buy her reason.

"Here," Luna handed the box to Mira.

Mira looked at the beautiful box, took it, and looked at Luna with an obvious question.

"Open it," Luna instructed.

Mira opened it and saw a beautiful teardrop necklace. She looked at Luna, not knowing what to say. If she didn't know Luna, she might really think that Luna was confessing to her, and her friends might have been right all along.

Luna noticed Mira's doubt and explained herself. "Don't get me wrong. The professor told me that you helped them decide who really deserves the first place and that you didn't take advantage of the situation. So, I want to thank you. I don't want to owe you anything, but I don't know what you need. I can only give you this. I just don't know if you will like it."

Mira couldn't tell if Luna was telling the truth, as Luna kept looking ahead. She could only look at the necklace again. "I like it," she finally said.

"You like it?" Luna asked again, confirming if she had heard correctly.

"Yes," Mira answered. She couldn't think of anything else to say because if she were in Luna's position, she might do the same.

Luna bowed her head a little, her face hidden by her hair so Mira couldn't see Luna's smile upon hearing that she liked it. "That's good," Luna said.

Although Mira accepted Luna's reason, the expensive look of the necklace was obvious. "But... I don't think I can accept this," Mira said after some thought.

Luna's smile quickly faded, and she turned her head to Mira to see if she was joking. "Why?"

"I just did the right thing, and you deserve it. Although I appreciate your gift, it looks expensive," Mira explained.

Luna quickly caught the main point. "So it's because it's expensive?"

Mira avoided Luna's eyes.

Luna took a deep breath. She had made an effort in choosing what to give to Mira and even thought about how to give it to her. She had asked her friends and had also been misunderstood. Most of all, she ignored her mother's warning. How could she accept Mira's reason after all her effort? But now she gained a new understanding about Mira, which was also a good thing.
