Genshin Impact: I Became The Son Of Greater Lord Rukkhadevata

Chapter 20: Chapter 20: What A Pity...

Yu casually picked up a piece of blue coral-like material from the shallow water. It looked like a mushroom.

"Sea Ganoderma?" Yu said aloud. Greater Lord Rukkhadevata had mentioned it during one of their lessons.

He glanced at Ganyu beside him.

"Want to try it?"

"No way, no way. That looks disgusting."

Just then, the little princess of the Geo Archon, cradled in Yu's arms, suddenly started crying again.

"Why is she crying again?" Ganyu looked at the baby, her eyes full of worry. Seeing the child of Lady Guizhong cry made her feel like tearing up too.

"Maybe she's hungry."

"Could be. Should we find something to feed her? Brother Yu, what do we even give her to eat?"

"I know that human babies are fed milk by their mothers, but for a god's child... I have no idea."

"Then, Brother Yu, how did you manage when you were a kid?"

"When I was a kid… I didn't really have a childhood."

...

Though Yu's power was currently diminished to less than a fraction of its usual strength, and he couldn't use elemental energy for now, he still had enough ability to fend for himself. He decided to go find food while Ganyu stayed behind to watch over the little princess. Setting off on a hunting trip, he considered that the usual food might not work for a god's child, so instead of hunting regular animals, he went after a Geo Slime. He even got knocked back a step during the scuffle—an experience that left him feeling utterly humiliated.

Holding a glob of Geo Slime concentrate, Yu brought it to the baby's mouth, hoping she'd eat it.

But no matter how he tried, the baby refused to take a bite.

"Come on, eat! Why won't you eat?!"

Yu was on the verge of losing it. After all that effort to catch a Geo Slime—did she even know how rare they were around here? Most of them were Electro Slimes. He had gone through so much trouble for this, and now she wouldn't even eat it.

"Brother Yu, I don't think I've ever seen the Geo Archon eating Geo Slimes. Maybe we should just find normal human food?"

"You're probably right. Ganyu, you're lucky. Go see if there's a human village nearby or any travelers. I'll rest here for a bit."

"Got it, Brother Yu. I'm off."

Yu leaned back against a rock, trying to regain his strength. What a mess. He'd never suffered injuries like this before. Usually, any wound healed quickly on its own, but this time his whole body felt drained, and he couldn't even summon elemental energy. He could only hope he'd recover soon.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Ganyu transformed into her child-like form as she wandered through the forest. As a Qilin, born with innate auspicious senses, she trusted her instincts to guide her to someone who could help.

As she walked, a purple figure caught her eye. Upon closer inspection, it was a beautiful woman with an elegant yet slightly aloof expression. The teardrop mole at the corner of her eye added a hint of softness to her otherwise cold demeanor. Ganyu immediately felt that this woman could take good care of others.

At that moment, Ei was patrolling the island, clearing out monsters, when she noticed the small, blue-haired girl approaching.

"Hello, can you help me?" Ganyu asked politely.

"What's the matter?" Ei assumed this little creature was some kind of spirit seeking assistance. As a protector of her people, she felt obliged to help.

"Well…" Ganyu explained that she, her brother, and a baby had been stranded on the island by accident. They needed help finding food suitable for the infant.

Hearing this, Ei's expression grew more stoic.

"Take me to them first," she said.

"Okay."

...

True to what Madame Ping had once said, this little girl seemed to be destined for misfortune. Before they could reach Yu, a Thunderhelm Lawachurl appeared out of nowhere and launched an attack.

Yu, seeing the imminent danger, summoned the Vortex Vanquisher. However, in his weakened state, he couldn't wield the Wolf's Gravestone. His current condition was like that of a warrior with a 120-second elemental skill cooldown—low on health, completely out of energy, and unable to recover.

In no time, Yu was beaten black and blue, pinned beneath the Lawachurl's massive frame. He looked like a downtrodden bride, utterly humiliated. If he had even half his usual strength, one punch would have turned the creature into dust. Right now, though, he was barely clinging on.

Yu didn't know proper sword techniques. He never needed them—his raw physical prowess was always enough to overpower enemies. But in this state, he felt as weak as someone who had just recovered from a fever.

Suddenly, a purple figure appeared out of nowhere. The Thunderhelm Lawachurl turned its attention to the newcomer and charged, but in front of this woman, the hulking creature looked clumsy and toy-like. With a few precise strikes, she swung a polearm resembling a guandao and ended the monster in one clean motion.

"For a god, your swordsmanship is terrible," Ei said coldly.

…Terrible…?

Yu, who prided himself on his strength, felt deeply insulted.

"Brother Yu! Are you okay?"

Ganyu had returned. Yu pulled himself up from the ground, only to feel a wave of dizziness. Before he could say anything, everything went black, and he collapsed.

"Brother Yu!"

After understanding the situation, Ei glanced at the baby in Yu's arms. This was troublesome. The nearest settlement was quite far, and while she carried some rations, they weren't suitable for an infant.

Still, seeing the crying baby tugged at her heart. After some thought, she said, "Let me try. I have some food. I'll prepare something simple."

...

Ganyu watched as the food in the container changed from a faint color to pitch black. She swallowed nervously.

"Big Sister Ei, I'm a Qilin, so I'm pretty fast. I could… find someone else?"

What a waste, she thought, looking at the beautiful woman's perfect face, so suited for being a gentle caretaker.
