I was reborn into a fantasy world

Chapter 10: CH 10: First blood, the truth always comes to light.

The day after Roxy left, a kind of sad aura hung over the house and its inhabitants. Well, everyone except me. I've never really been that attached to people.

Roxy was my teacher, I value her a lot and respect her greatly, but I wasn't really going to get emotional after she left.

On the other hand, despite that, right now Paul is training me in a sparring match. We've been at it for a while now and it was almost time to finish, so I think it's about time to ask.

"Paul, I have a favor to ask you," - I went straight to the point as I blocked an attack from Paul and retreated to speak.

"Hmm? What's up, Kiel?" - By now Paul had gotten used to me calling him by his name, basically everyone had.

"I was wondering if you could let me participate in your patrols and teach me how to hunt and all that," - I asked Paul very seriously.

"Huh? Why do you want that? You know that doing it is very dangerous, don't you?" - Paul asked and warned, although I know that in the area where the village is located there aren't many dangerous monsters.

"Yes, I know, but I think it would be good for me to start learning all that." - I said.

"Hey, why don't you ask Zenith about this first? If she gives you her permission then I won't have any problems teaching you all that," - Paul said after racking his brain to find an excuse to not accept my request.

"..." - I looked at him for a while making him uncomfortable, but then I nodded and said. - "Okay, I'll go ask her, but when she accepts I don't want any excuses."

I saw him sigh and I simply headed towards Zenith, I know convincing her is going to be difficult, but I think the sooner I learn to hunt and kill the better.

I don't want to be paralyzed if by bad luck I have a situation where I have to kill.

"No, it's no, Kiel, you're still very young and that's dangerous - after entering the house I quickly told her what I wanted to do, but of course Zenith thinks like an overprotective Mother so it wouldn't be easy to convince her.

Of course the fact that I'm only 5 years old, almost 6, doesn't help my request much.

"But Zenith, I think it would be good for me to learn how to hunt, besides if you accept I'm going to be taught and protected by Paul so I doubt that anything dangerous could happen," - I tried to explain myself as best as I could, but Zenith had that look of "I'm not going to accept" on her face.

"Ma'am, I think it wouldn't be a bad idea for Master Kiel to learn how to hunt. It's good that he learns to do it from an early age, you know that's a skill that's better learned early on," and the heroine Lilia to the rescue, now Zenith's gaze wavered as usually Lilia stays out of it, but when she says something everyone listens.

"It's true Zenith, please, I promise to be careful," - I quickly and without shame used my secret technique, the puppy eyes.

I saw Zenith hesitate even more, but finally she closed her eyes and sighed, then she said in a resigned voice. "Alright, but you have to be careful and listen to everything they tell you."

"Yes, yes, thank you Zenith," - I nodded quickly feeling happy making Zenith hug me while thanking and quickly jumped towards Lilia and also thanked her before quickly heading outside to tell Paul the good news.

"Paul, I got it, I got Zenith's permission," - I told Paul who was still training with his wooden sword.

"Huh? Huh? Ah, that's good," - Paul seemed surprised looking at me as if he was wondering how I had gotten Zenith's permission.

"So, when can we start?" - I asked again not wanting to waste time.

"Sigh... Well, how about tomorrow you can come with me on my morning patrol," - Paul said after a sigh.

Paul works as a guard with two shifts, morning and night, every three days he works the night shift while basically daily he works the morning shift.

"Okay, then," - I nodded and then after all that, we continued with the sparring.

[The next morning]

It was very early in the morning, the sun hadn't even come out yet, but Paul and I were walking around the forest while keeping watch.

Well, more like while Paul was talking and watching and I was following him and listening.

I haven't let my guard down, but I doubt I could detect anything before Paul, a skilled Rank S adventurer.

"Listen, this isn't a game okay? You need to be very attentive to your surroundings, you never know when you might be ambushed," - Paul said and I nodded very seriously despite it being like the fifth time he's said it, although now I just think he's trying to get those words stuck in my head.

But then suddenly Paul stops and crouches down while putting his hand on my shoulder urging me to do the same.

"Okay, listen, there's a big boar up ahead," - he explained as he pointed with his finger at a large boar, a Rank E monster, then he grabbed his dagger and put it in front of me while saying. - "I want you to hunt it, without using your magic, just with this."

"Are you sure you want me to do this?" - I asked, isn't he supposed to teach me more basic things first? Not just throw me straight into killing a big boar? Despite not being a big danger to me it's still very spontaneous for a child who is only just having his first hunting lesson today.

"It's okay, if you want me to teach you how to hunt first you have to prove you're ready for this." - Oh okay, now I understand, you just want me to get scared and give up, but Paul you failed.

I grabbed the dagger from his hand making him tense momentarily and look at me surprised, but I looked at him directly with a serious look and said. "Okay, I can do it."

Then without waiting for an answer from him I moved agilely through the terrain getting closer and closer to the big boar while avoiding making too much noise.

Then I climbed a tree not too far from where the boar was eating and I'm not going to lie I cheated a little by climbing using my ability to climb, to climb as fast and quietly as possible.

Upon reaching high enough I looked around and realized that there were no monsters nearby at most some not so dangerous animals.

Then waiting for the perfect moment, I jumped onto the boar's back and plunged the dagger into the boar's skull with force and quickly pulled it out.

Needless to say it died.

"So? How did I do?" - I smiled at Paul while wiping the boar's blood off the blade of the dagger.

Needless to say it was funny to see Paul's face of disbelief, but nobody tells him to treat me like a normal child when I'm not, I'm a Saint-level mage and a beginner-level swordsman.

Of course I could easily kill a big boar even though I cheated a little, it's not like I was going to say it.

And so from that day my hunting lessons began.

[Six months later]

"Very well Kiel, your technique has improved a lot," - the one who said it was Laws, the half-elf father of Sylphiette.

Currently I am practicing archery with him, if I wanted to learn how to hunt this was a class that was mandatory to take, luckily it was quite easy for Laws to agree to teach me, since then I have been learning archery along with hunting.

And these six months I realized something, it seems that in this new life I can't be without doing anything, I'm always trying to learn something new, I don't see it as bad, but it's curious.

It's not like there's much to do in a fantasy world.

Apart from that, some interesting things have happened in these six months, one of them is that Zenith is pregnant for two months now.

If it's like the original, then Lilia should already be showing signs of pregnancy.

As a person disinterested in other people's problems and very busy, I ignored everything that happens in that house while I focused on learning new things.

If Paul becomes stupid and lets Lilia seduce him then that's his problem, I'm not going to help him so he can have his little harem like Rudeus did, at most I'll help Lilia so she's not kicked out of the house with Aisha in her womb.

"So, Kiel, that's all for today, as always we continue with the lessons in two days," - Laws said as he said goodbye with a smile.

"See you later Master Laws, thank you for teaching me today," - I of course said goodbye and thanked as always while heading towards the house.

'I wonder when Lilia will say she's pregnant?...' - I wondered as I entered the house, but then I saw something I didn't expect to see...

Paul face down with a guilty face, Zenith with a face of not knowing what to do and Lilia sitting looking like she wants to disappear.

"'So, it happened, huh?'" - I thought to myself, shrugging. My only job is to prevent Lilia from leaving, and I highly doubt that Zenith, being the good person she is, would let her leave while she's pregnant.

"'Hmm? What's up?'" - I asked, putting on the most innocent face I could.

"'Nothing, Kiel, nothing, we're just discussing something here,'" - Zenith replied. Paul didn't even look at me, nor did Lilia. - "Why don't you go to your room while we talk, okay?"

"Alright," - I nodded, but before heading to my room, I spoke in a serious tone. - "But I want to ask you a favor, Zenith."

"'Hmm?'" - Question marks appeared above Zenith's confused gaze as she looked at me.

"I hope you won't kick Lilia out of the house, please. She's very important to me," - I requested in the most sincere tone I could manage while lowering my head a little.

I could hear surprised sounds from everyone since I wasn't supposed to know what was going on.

"'What do you mean, Kiel?'" - Zenith finally asked as she looked at me.

"Seeing the situation, I can tell something happened between the three of you. I'm not one to tell you what to do, but I just hope you'll do me this favor at least," - I explained as they exchanged glances between her and Lilia.

Lilia was looking at me and seemed like she was about to cry at any moment.

"Then without further ado, I'm going to my room to study," - I said as I turned around without looking at Paul. The little respect I had for him vanished after what he did.

If you're wondering why I didn't stop them earlier, I'd ask you this... Why should I?

They're adults who know what they're doing. I'm just helping Lilia because of Aisha, not because of her.

And as for Paul, well, I'm really not one to talk bad about him or judge him too much. I want a harem, but the difference between us is that I wouldn't mess with a believer of Millis promising to have only her as a wife and be faithful to her.

Paul will have to figure it out on his own.

'Well, I better stop worrying, if everything goes wrong for Lilia then I'll have to get serious...' - I thought and so I cast the sound isolation spell and started studying a magic that had caught my attention not long ago.

The magic is called storage magic, yes, the indispensable magic for any reincarnated person who respects themselves.

Just by glancing at the name, I almost stopped doing all the other things I was learning to be able to learn this magic, but I managed to resist. It's not like I was going to need it anytime soon.

[Third person point of view]

After Kiel left, everyone in the room was surprised by the young boy's apparent understanding of the situation.

Finally, Zenith managed to recover a bit after Kiel unintentionally pulled her out of her gloomy thoughts and she was able to think about the situation a little better.

Sighing, Zenith made a decision and then spoke. - "Lilia, because of all these years we've known each other and because of Kiel who cares about you so much, I can't let you leave while you're pregnant, so I hope you'll stay here and fulfill your original role and have the baby here."

Zenith finished speaking, surprising Lilia, but before she could react, Zenith got up with the intention of leaving.

"Honey..." - Paul tried to talk to his wife, but before he could finish his words, Zenith yelled at him.

"Shut up!! I don't want to talk to you, I still can't believe you did that to me!!" - Zenith shouted and a flame that had calmed down a little briefly ignited in her, but quickly calmed down with a sigh.

"We'll talk about this later, for now, I don't want to see you," - and just like that Zenith left, heading to her room and closing it forcefully. From outside, you could hear the sounds of objects being thrown forcefully and her screams.

Paul didn't dare go and Lilia simply went to her room after standing still in place without moving after Zenith left.

Needless to say, after that day in the house, nothing was the same.

====≠====≠====

the most epic fight scene you will see or rather the murder scene? Well, Paul just said that he would have to finish him off with the dagger, but he didn't specifically say how.

On the other hand, I didn't know how to put all that about the problem between the three of them, without Rudeus, I only know that somehow Lilia stayed and Paul left, but nothing else.

I still don't know how Zenith forgave Paul, couples stuff I guess, but something like that won't happen here. I'm not a fan of cheating, at least not when the couple is supposed to have agreed to a closed relationship.

Anyway, I hope you liked the chapter.
