Chapter 54 - I
Bai Jingxiao’s safe escape from Nanzhou City brought joy to Shi Yi for his older brother. However, it wasn’t long after he recovered from his injuries that he was eager to take Shi Mo away.
“Brother, do you really want to go to Zhongzhou City? Isn’t it good to stay here?” Shi Yi expressed reluctance, not understanding why they needed to go to Zhongzhou City.
“Jingxiao must have his own reasons for going to Zhongzhou City. With the Bai Mansion people gone, I will be fine.” Shi Mo reassured him with a gentle smile.
They also learned some details about Nanzhou City from Bai Jingxiao. The war had been primarily caused by the collusion between City Master Fan and the Nanyi people, leading to a tragic outcome for the Bai Mansion’s madam and others. Shi Yi had no words to offer. They had been together for nearly a year, and this was the first time he saw his older brother so happy.
That afternoon, Shi Mo, Xiao Bao, and Bai Jingxiao embarked on a boat journey to Zhongzhou City.
With their departure, Xie Yu and Lu Ruiyang also came to bid them farewell. The construction of the weapons warehouse was progressing well, and there were matters awaiting Xie Yu’s attention in Baiyin City. Lu Ruiyang’s visit had been mostly for a show, and now that the jade workshop and stone mine had been symbolically established, there was no need for him to remain here.
Shi Yi once again had some free time. Apart from drawing comic every day, he spent time with Pei Xing.
Since Shi Mo’s departure, no one had been embroidering his special comics.
Zhouzhou gave birth to twins by accident a few days ago. Chu Nan, a tall man of nearly 1.9 meters, was so frightened that he wept bitterly. He went to drink with Pei Xing daily, muttering that he would never have children again.
Shi Yi’s farm tool transformation business was gradually returning to its agenda. Besides visiting the county town from time to time, Pei Xing spent the rest of his time teaching martial arts to Xiao Liu and Hong Luo.
Shi Yi, fanning himself under the eaves, said, “It’s too hot. Don’t let them get heatstroke.”
“Don’t worry, I’m careful.” Pei Xing assured him, handing over a cold jade pot.
Taking a sip of the ice-cold strawberry juice inside, Shi Yi put the jade pot close to his face. The cool, delicate bottle instantly refreshed his skin, relieving the discomfort of his sticky, sweaty body. He got up and headed back to the room.
“It’s too hot. I’m going to take a shower.”
Pei Xing’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he watched Xiao Liu and the others. “Today’s practice is over. Let’s go rest.”
Xiao Liu glanced at the scene and nodded.
.
Once Pei Xing entered the room, he looked at Hong Luo and asked, puzzled, “Isn’t there still an hour?”
“The night is short, and he is anxious to spend time with his wife,” Hong Luo replied, patting Xiao Liu on the shoulder and leading him inside. In the main hall, she added, “Ignore him. Come cool off for a while, and I’ll take you to practice later.”
Shi Liu, who thought Pei Ying was merely accompanying his third brother, went into the room to sip some iced strawberry juice.
Muttering to himself, he couldn’t help but wonder, “Don’t Brother Pei and third brother get tired of playing together all day long? Aren’t they bored of being together?”
He and Sister Hong Luo would be tired after playing with wooden swords for three hours.
.
Shi Yi walked into the bathroom and had barely removed his clothes when Pei Xing entered and quickly undressed. He then embraced Shi Yi and lowered him into the bathtub.
Before Shi Yi could react, Pei Xing pressed his head and kissed him passionately. Shi Yi tilted his head back, letting out soft moans, while his fingers gripped Pei Xing’s waist tightly.
Pei Xing didn’t release him but deepened the kiss, taking Shi Yi’s restless hand and guiding it to his well-defined abdominal muscles. Shi Yi’s fingers obediently traced the lines of his toned abs, his body gradually relaxing.
The heat in the room was as intense as the sweltering weather outside.
It wasn’t until sunset that the soft sounds echoing in the room ceased.
Shi Yi felt like his whole body had turned to jelly, lying limply in front of Pei Xing’s chest. His fair body bore the marks of their passionate encounter.
Pei Xing caressed his flushed face and said, “Don’t use those farm tools you’ve made until I write to ask Xie Yu. They are too conspicuous and might attract unwanted attention.”
Shi Yi, still a bit dazed, mumbled, “You ask first. There’s no rush.”
While Pei Xing wrote to Xie Yu for inquiries, Shi Yi also created vivid cartoons to illustrate the usage of those farm tools, as he was concerned that Xie Yu might not understand otherwise.
Once the letter was dispatched, Shi Yi temporarily halted his farm tool production.
The recent days had been extremely hot, with no rainfall for half a month. The crops in the fields were withering, and villagers had started watering them.
Pei Xing had employed about a dozen workers to help watering the fields. They worked long hours under the hot sun. Shi Yi accompanied them for four days before he fainted from the heat, causing Pei Xing to insist he stay behind and not follow alone.
