I Was Sold to My Mortal Enemy (Double Transmigrations)

Chapter 63 - I

Shi Yi was taken aback. After a closer look, he connected the image of the young man in front of him with the memory of a black-haired boy from the past.

In surprise, he called out, “Little brother!” and reached out to brush away the ice and snow from the young man’s face, revealing his handsome and resolute features.

“Third brother, you’ve become so beautiful now!” Shi Wu joyfully embraced him and spun him around.

It was hard not to get overly excited after not seeing his brother for such a long time. The third brother was the most gifted in their family, though relatively delicate, both the third brother and eldest brother typically looked after Shi Wu.

As he finished speaking, he suddenly received a swift slap on the head, followed by a firm flick on his elbow, leaving his arm numb and powerless.

Pei Xing scooped Shi Yi into his arms and gave him a dark, disapproving look.

Shi Wu was about to scold the person responsible for preventing him from reconnecting with his brother when he raised his head and saw a man standing before him, towering over their general.

This man also had Hu ancestry, with skin that bore the characteristic pale tone of the Hu people, similar to their general. However, his eyes had a faint blue glint under the sunlight. He wore a hat, had pronounced brows, sharp eyes, and exuded a striking and commanding presence, fierce yet not lacking in self-possession.

Suddenly, Shi Wu recalled the package he received the previous year, which contained valuable Golden Marrow Pills and lifesaving pills. His third brother mentioned in the letter that they were a gift from his brother-in-law. At that moment, he felt touched and grateful that his third brother had found such a good husband.

“Oh, he’s just 15 years old; he’s still a child. How could you hit him like this?” Shi Yi, looking at the dumbfounded Shi Wu, couldn’t help but intercede in front of Pei Xing.

Shi Wu, being a rather simple-minded boy, was unfazed. He patted his head, giggled, and waved his hand, saying, “It’s alright, Third Brother. My head is tough; it doesn’t hurt.”

He then excitedly added, “Is this your husband? He’s so tall! Taller than our general, and they look somewhat alike. It’s cool!” He grinned at Pei Xing.

The group of soldiers behind them couldn’t help but cringe upon hearing Shi Wu’s comparisons, silently covering their faces in embarrassment.

When Shi Yi heard the comparison between Pei Xing and Pei Zhengchen, he quickly responded, “No, your third brother-in-law is your general’s brother, so they can’t be different.”

Shi Wu suddenly teared up. He looked at their general and then at his third brother-in-law in astonishment, finding the situation quite fantastical and exciting. He realized he had become related to their general. His third brother lived up to his reputation; he had given him quite a surprise.

The other soldiers were equally shocked and gaped at Shi Wu in disbelief.

“Ah, didn’t you know?” Shi Yi, seeing the astonishment on Shi Wu’s face, remembered that he had written a letter last year but hadn’t mentioned it. “I seem to have forgotten.” As the snow continued to fall heavily, Pei Xing interrupted their reunion.

The group dispersed to find shelter and the two invited Pei Zhengchen and Shi Wu to rest inside.

Shi Yi headed to the kitchen and served hot soup to the group. Realizing they hadn’t eaten; he quickly prepared a few bowls of dry noodles to satisfy their hunger. After everyone had eaten their fill, the sixteen soldiers went to tidy up other houses.

Seeing that Pei Zhengchen and Pei Xing had matters to discuss, Shi Yi took Shi Wu to the neighboring house.

.

Several large pots of hot water had been prepared for everyone to use, and they had brought their own padded clothes and quilts to stay warm. Hot water was distributed to everyone, and Shi Wu was encouraged to take a warm bath. Afterward, Shi Yi brewed ginger soup using wild ginger from the mountains and prepared to make mutton soup.

However, the leg of lamb was frozen solid, and Shi Yi’s hands became numb from the cold, making it impossible to chop it.

Hearing the noise, Pei Xing walked out of the house, took the knife, and skillfully cut the lamb leg into small pieces. He then fetched two large wooden basins, filling them with water from the small pot to thaw the meat.

“Are we leaving with them this time?” Shi Yi asked, tugging at the corner of his clothes.

“We’ll leave the island when spring arrives next year, it would be warmer. It’s too cold now.” Pei Xing replied, holding Shi Yi’s cold hand.

Shi Yi thought the same. Looking at Shi Wu and the others, who were almost frozen like popsicles, he felt a shiver down his spine just thinking about it.

.

In the evening, Shi Yi gathered the group of soldiers for dinner. They all enjoyed steaming mutton soup with rice cakes.

After finishing his meal, Shi Wu, wanting to get closer to his third brother whom he hadn’t seen in a year, hugged Shi Yi and acted like a child, saying, “Third brother, it’s been so long. Let’s sleep together and have a good chat.”

As he spoke, a sharp click was heard. The wooden chopsticks in Pei Xing’s hand snapped in two, and he gave Shi Wu a cold look.

Shi Wu suddenly felt a cold sensation on his neck, but when he touched it, there were no snowflakes. It was quite strange.

The soldiers around him stared wide-eyed at the oblivious Shi Wu, and then at Pei Xing, who looked murderous. They quickly intervened and pulled Shi Wu away from the danger zone.

“Well, let’s go and rest for now. Thank you for the hospitality.” the soldiers said and hurriedly retreated to their lodging with Shi Wu.

After finishing his meal, Pei Zhengchen didn’t disturb them too much and went to the neighboring house with the blueprints for making firearms that Pei Xing had given him.

After Shi Yi finished washing, Pei Xing carried him back to the room, threw him onto the bed, and kissed him passionately.

“He’s just a young boy, why are you so jealous?” Shi Yi protested, clutching Pei Xing’s waist.

“He’s a young boy who’s taller and stronger than you.” Pei Xing replied, biting Shi Yi in frustration.

“Well, he has indeed grown taller and stronger,” Shi Yi admitted, thinking of Shi Wu’s robust physique, which was already that of an adult man, but his temperament was still that of a child. “How should I put it? He’s my biological brother, but he’s a bit naive.”

“Tsk, what a naive boy. When I was his age, I already…” Pei Xing stopped abruptly.

“What’s up?” Shi Yi blinked his large eyes in curiosity.

Pei Xing quickly covered Shi Yi’s lips and refrained from saying more.

At that age, he had just started high school, and it was the time when he began experiencing his first inklings of love. Though he was inexperienced and couldn’t quite understand the concept of attraction, back then he still wanted to catch Shi Yi’s attention.
