I Will Live My Life As A Slime With A Dark Elf Body As A Base!

Chapter 2: Testing The Limits Of My Strength

Chapter 2: Testing The Limits Of My Strength

Standing near the lake and thinking about the recent events made me awe-struck, in all honesty. An evil goddess chose me to take care of her children, who were Fenrirs. The information at hand was really overwhelming for a bit, but I had to get over it. Was I even worthy of doing such a thing? Did she just find an interest in me for reasons that I have yet to discover? It was rather interesting to mull over.

“Well, I am going to have to start with the first step, then!”

I picked up a nearby pebble and threw it across the water, skipping several times on the surface until it hit a dark blue rock and flew off in the distance. Our major priority is shelter, which we can always find. Cave systems were rather hard to live in because goblins may be inhabiting inside of them. I’ve seen enough fiction to know that this is not a wise decision to make. To take care of Ly-chan’s children, I have to be so strong that monsters of any level will be scared of me.

“Geri, Freki.”

““Bark!””

“Let’s go to the open field and see what we can do!”

““Bark! Bark!””

Such cute wolf puppies. I picked the two up in both arms, and having already scanned the area, I knew there was a plain with no monsters. It didn’t take me long to arrive at that lone place, as it was probably the only location in this sea of trees that was this open. Of course, this was dangerous, but what is life without a little spice? I would test my skills here.

“My stats have increased exponentially, but I am more invested and focused on my MP, Intelligence and Agility at the moment.”

These three stats were essential for me, who used to be a Divine Spellsword in Sword Fantasy. Being fast enough to dodge most of your enemies while attacking them was my style of fighting. These would go a long way early on in this new life. It was even more risky since I could lose my life and not tactically accept defeat on purpose to win a long war.

“Alrighty, you two, watch my back. Bark if you spot anything unusual.”

““Bark!!””

I heard their confident barking and smiled as I closed my eyes and began to feel the mana within me. All the active skills appeared one after the other in a list, and I took interest in two skills: Mana Control and Chant Revocation. Mana Control was, as the name states, able to operate mana in a way that I wouldn’t have problems skipping several processes along the way. To me right now, it feels so natural, which is strange considering that I never used magic in my entire previous life, obviously. Chant Revocation was omitting the time spent saying out the sacred words of magic to activate a spell. Was the original owner of this body a genius or something? After becoming accustomed to the feeling of mana passing through my body, the real test had the chance to start.

“Let us begin”

This world was similar to Sword Fantasy, thus the systems were the same. Which meant I could access most of my old spells. I imagined myself walking in the void towards the entrance of a grand library. I felt intimidated at first, but then I opened the door, and all of my hard-earned self-created spells were right in front of me.

Acquired a Unique Skill: Alpha-Omega’s Library!

10% Of Alpha-Omega’s Library Has Been Unlocked

A smile grew on my face, as 10% was all I needed. I selected the Tier I Spell Flame Pillar Of Hephaestus. The mana cost for it was 35 MP, which wasn’t much considering the fact I was going to use it once. Was this another add-on from Ly-chan? Because I did not think it would work out that easily. It was very kind of her. After selecting that spell, I opened my eyes after visualizing what it would look like.

“Flame Pillar of Hephaestus!”

This was a targeted spell that was meant to hit mid-bosses and other players as a distraction. I expected that, but the truth of reality said otherwise. That same single-person spell covered the whole plain within a matter of seconds, it changed into an AOE spell for some reason. Ya. Be. I said it in the way a certain famous mistune girl mentioned when something bad happened, along with the surprised face as well. This would certainly be a signal to all the monsters nearby that something is on the plains, hence I doused it with Rain Shot, which had turned into an AOE spell as well.

“…….”

The pups whimpered as they saw the beautiful plain turn into a wasteland because of me. That said, I was feeling experience points slowly piling up within me for some reason.

Acquired The Following Skills: Sneak, Invisibility, Camouflage!

“Wait, these are skills. Why am I getting skills for something that wasn’t here?!”

I made signs for the pups to walk alongside me as we went to inspect this anomaly. The plain was covered in mana stones, which were scattered about. I picked up one of these and used Appraisal-tan to see what the hell was accidentally murdered by me.

Killer Slime Core Lv6

“BROTHERS AND SISTERS!! I AM SO GODDAMN SORRY, I DIDN’T KNOW YOU WERE THERE!”

They were invisible and waiting to attack me. Pretty smart of you, my brethren.

“Hmm? What are you guys doing?”

The pups began to run to the mana stones and began to chew them as if they were tasty. They really are monster children. What the hell?

“Hmm, maybe trying one out won’t be so bad. I sure as hell hope my teeth are strong enough for this”

I took one of the stones that was on the burned ground, cleaned it with my shirt, and put it in my mouth.

“Hmm? Why the hell does this taste like soda-flavored candy? It’s delicious though, so I know what I can do with this if I find a home you two”

I hadn’t thought about it for some time, and then it hit me suddenly.

“Wait, isn’t this cannibalism?”

Acquired Kin Eater Title!

“OIIIIIII APPRAISAL-TAN STOP!! I CANNOT GAIN ANY MORE TODAY!”

I openly cast my thoughts to Appraisal-tan with that comedic timing. It was the fact that slime cores tasted this good that made it even harder for me to accept the fact that I had become a cannibal.

“I might have to kill my brothers and sisters to get the equivalent of fantasy-world soft drinks.”

As I was saying these words, I could hear movement from a little bit further than the plain. I had turned around in joy, thinking it was some adventurers who had come to my aid! They had green skin, had an average faces (they were ugly as hell), carried only clubs and branches, and some were riding oversized wolves.

“Guga gabuuuu”

“Goba gob?”

“Goba gob hehehehehehe!”

“GOBA GOB!”

Such strange adventurers….

“Let’s face reality. No matter how you look at it, that’s a horde of goblins coming towards you, isn’t it?”

I retorted myself as I tried to escape reality, with the pups growling in response to this.

“Hmm, I think it’s high time you two got to level up as well. I’ll cook goblin meat tonight. We are going to be having goblin steak with some killer slime drinks!”

Geri and Freki looked at me with concerned faces, and a whimpering that followed soon after.

“Okay, okay! I was just joking, I am not that desperate! In any case, if there is a large group of goblins, I guess I have to live with the consequences of my actions. Geri and Freki aim for the neck and Achilles’ tendons, which are here. Make sure you attack those who I topple from their wolves.”

I pointed at the spots where these two should aim for as I took down this horde; that way they would level up. I turned my hands into sharp clothes as the horde of goblins, in their furious anger, ran towards us.

I moved at rapid speed, dodging all the arrows and fireballs that the goblins fired at me with the pups right behind me. The skillSkill Eater was active as I closed the distance between me and them. I tore through the body of a goblin with my claws. I snapped the neck of the wolf that it was riding on and moved on to the next victim, giving them no time to recover from this change of pace. The goblin barbarians in this group had tried to pincer attack me from the sides, however this failed as I shot them with Acid Flame Spear. Their knees dissolved, giving Geri and Freki enough time to tear at their throats. I impaled several goblins through the chest, causing them to gasp in horror, slamming them into each other, creating a fine paste of red and green. Several came from behind me and I merely shot them with even more gun like arms sprouting from my shoulders. Immediately after I clicked my finger, I started firing acid shots rapidly, which corroded through their body parts. At first, I thought the prospect of fighting would be foreign to me. But here I was ripping a horde of goblins to shreds with my sharpened slime claws. They did not stop coming. Wave after wave, it felt like I was being bathed in a sea of power from all the experience points I was being bathed in.

All things couldn’t last forever as the last goblin got his head lopped off. I stood there covered in the blood of my enemies for a while and saw the burned wasteland filled with goblin parts. I could count that I killed about 240 of them. Appraisal-tan had been giving off skill acquisitions and level ups, that it had become a chant that kept me going.

“I killed a bunch of them, which was actually fun. Let’s see my status and see what I got from my second fight.”

It was at the realization that I was gaining more strength with crystal clarity. I was, in fact, a monster. This was my second encounter with the goblins and I had gained so much from it.

“Wait, wasn’t there a Goblin Chief nearby? Let’s check his current location.”

I incurred the wrath of the nearby goblin chief! I got cheeky and defeated a lot of his subordinates who were probably looking for a new location to settle in, only for all of them to get killed by yours truly.

“Oh well, there’s nothing I can do about it.”

The Goblin Chief had arrived! He roared in anger as he saw the scene that unfolded in front of him and the culprit was right in front of him, which made him even angrier. He was a huge, ugly goblin who held a gigantic club running towards me as I folded my arms with the wolf pups resting beside me, but I had already made a plan for that.

“Appraisal-tan, let’s see his skills and not his status.”

Goblin Chief

Wow, he is actually that strong, ah he is about to reach me and the little pups. I actually feel sorry for him. Before he gets to swing his club at me, the ground collapsed from beneath him. The Goblin Chief shrieked, as he dropped to the very bottom. Me and pups peak in and a gruesome sight had revealed it, the sharp earth spikes I had set up in there, pierced throughout the entire body with him there. He was still alive. Of course, he would be still alive. How could a monster as high as level 50 die in a trap like this? Well, that’s where I come in.

“Still not dead, huh? You’re going to regret being born. It’s time I ate some skills.”

I cast Flame Pillar of Hephaestus and the Goblin Chief who was grasping for life was finally dead. I sighed once more, checking if there was no nearby monster that was going to come to ruin my victory against the goblins.

“Yosh all’s well that ends well! Right Geri, Freki!”

They both barked loudly as I heard Appraisal-tan give me the news of my level up. It was all over. My struggles in this world had only just begun. I was more than able to survive in this harsh world.

“You guys leveled up too! Tonight we are going to hunt some meat and……-?!”

“Oh shit not again.”

I could feel my consciousness slip as my body collapsed into itself. The last remnants of my vision were the goddess puppies running over to me and a dark cloud hovering over them. I heard the sound of large wings being beaten in the air.

“Just what the hell is that?”

My final thoughts echoed before I fell into a long slumber.
