Isekai Hotel

Chapter 42 – Guard and air conditioners.

When he got off the train, Nahida went to the same store where he had bought the TVs because he thought they would have several air conditioners for sale. When he arrived, an employee approached him.

This time, it was a woman about Nahida's age. She looked elegant and wore a work uniform similar to a women's suit worn by flight attendants.

Because the woman showed off her legs, Nahida had to control himself not to look at her beautiful thighs.

"Good afternoon. Can I help you?"

"I'm looking for air conditioners, the most powerful ones you have. I run a hotel and want the whole first floor in a pleasant temperature. As the reception and the place where the customers eat are interconnected, I need a powerful air conditioner."

"I see, one air conditioner for a huge room, right? How about two? It's even better if you have two."

"It depends on how much it costs. I might not have enough money if each one is too expensive." Despite saying that, Nahida knew he had enough money. At least enough to put air conditioners on the first floor.

Putting air conditioners in all the rooms would be too expensive. He would have to do it little by little. But as the bedrooms were smaller, some weaker ones would be enough.

"Each one costs 80,000 yen." Listening to the saleswoman, Nahida thought to himself for a moment. Eighty thousand yen is expensive but cheaper than he had expected.

He thought a powerful air conditioner would be more than 100,000 yen. In other words, it is a good value.

"Give me two of these to put on the first floor of my hotel. And now I want air conditioners with half the power for the bedrooms, please." It could be even weaker, but he didn't want to put a poor-quality product in his hotel rooms.

"We have several models. Some cost 30,000 and others 40,000."

"Half the price." Nahida did the math. Two powerful air conditioners would be 160,000 yen, and he had 800,000 yen in his backpack. He still had 640,000 yen to spend.

'Each one costs 40,000, so... I can buy 16 air conditioners. That's enough for all the rooms. There are 15 rooms. I'll have one left to put in my room.'

"Give me 16 air conditioners."

"16!?" The saleswoman asked, startled. Nahida confirmed that it would be 16, and the woman panicked momentarily. She panicked because the store didn't have all those air conditioners.

They had the two powerful ones Nahida wanted and five of the 40,000 yen ones. In other words, nine were missing.

"About that, we can send the ones in our store to your hotel today, and we'll send the rest next week. What do you think? You can pay for the other 9 when you receive them."

"That would be great. But are you sure you want me to pay after I receive them?"

"Yes, don't worry. I'll talk to the manager, and I'm sure he'll agree to it."

"All right. I'll pay for the seven today, then. When I get the others, I'll pay for them." Nahida accepted the deal. He had no reason to refuse.

While Nahida was paying for the air conditioners, an Orc arrived at his hotel. He was a tall, muscular Orc, as he should be. Just looking at him would intimidate you, mainly because of his fearsome face.

Nahida knew what he was doing when he chose a monster like that to work in his hotel.

"Here?" The Orc opened the door and had to duck to get through. Nazuna, who was at the reception, greeted him as soon as he walked through the front door.

"Welcome! Are you the Orc that Nahida said would be working here? My name is Nazuna. I'm also from Tempest."

"Nazuna? I've never heard of you."

"Hahahaha." Nazuna laughed. "It doesn't matter if you know me. Nahida asked me to talk to you about your work. He said I can talk to you about your salary."

"My salary? Rimuru-sama said that I would work here and not receive a salary."

"Rimuru-sama said that? Anyway, Nahida asked me to agree on a salary with you. He doesn't want to let you work for him for free. He wants to pay you a salary."

"..."

"Right, first, do you want me to show you the hotel?"

"Sure." The Orc smiled, and Nazuna felt her body tremble. As friendly as he seemed, she still felt a little uncomfortable around him. Maybe because of what happened to her a few days ago?

'I need to calm down. He won't do anything to me. He's someone Rimuru-sama and Shuna-sama trust.'

"Right, this is the reception. It's a spacious place, but it doesn't have any decorations or anything yet. Nahida said he'd take care of it later. And this way is where customers eat or stay when they want to talk..."

Nazuna showed the Orc the entire hotel, including the upper floors. Nazuna, who still didn't know about the third floor, was speechless when she noticed that there was a second staircase. 'When did Nahida do that?' she thought.

And after showing the Orc around the hotel, it was finally time to offer the Orc a salary, even if he didn't want anything. And since he didn't want anything, Nazuna offered him a low salary.

Nahida had told her to offer a high salary, but since the Orc didn't want it, she had no reason to 'waste' money.
