Kurapika's POV
The morning of the next day.
Kurapika had been awake for about half an hour now, and was now sitting at the table drinking coffee with Risotto. He looked a little sleep deprived and gloomy, while Risotto looked his usual self. However, Kurapika noticed that despite his apparent calmness, something was troubling his partner as well.
- You look a little gloomy. Bad dream? - Risotto asked.
- You could say that. Because we had to retreat last night, I didn't get a good night's sleep.
- I told you not to worry. They're not gonna get away from us.
- Yeah, I know. But it's still a little unsettling.
Kurapika didn't eat anything for breakfast and just finished his coffee, after which he put on his usual clothes.
- To the hospital? - Risotto asked him.
- Yes. I'm going to meet Formaggio.
Without saying anything else Kurapika left the flat, went down to the ground floor, and headed for the hospital, which was about half an hour's walk away.
As he walked leisurely through the streets, he occasionally noticed the aftermath of yesterday's battle. In particular, he could hear people arguing amongst themselves about what had caused part of the Semetori skyscraper to collapse. Many were talking about it being a terrorist attack.
'It seems that not everyone has realised yet that it was a Spider attack. However, rumours spread quickly, and it's only a matter of time before everyone is talking about the Spiders' attack on the Auction. Right now, my biggest concern is the upcoming battle this evening. Melone has some sort of ability that can track down the remaining Spiders. But when we face them again, will we be able to perform as well as we did last night? Well, I hope so. I just need to give my best and have faith in the rest of the guys.'
Soon Kurapika finally arrived at the hospital where Formaggio was waiting for him. Despite his plastered left arm, he didn't pay much attention to it and was in a good mood.
- Hello Kurapika! - Formaggio greeted him in a cheerful voice.
- Well, hello. I see you didn't stay long in the hospital.
- Oh, bollocks to it! I'll die of boredom there. Besides, it's only a broken arm, so it'll heal quickly. Why don't we go out?
- Yeah. I say we go to a cafe. I haven't eaten since this morning.
- Cafe? - Formaggio's stomach rumbled a little, - Come on! I'm a little hungry too.
They walked leisurely to the nearest cafe.
When they got to the cafe, they sat down at a table outside and began to choose what to order. Before they could order anything, Kurapika saw some old acquaintances, Gon and Killua, walking by.
- Wow! What a reunion! Hello Kurapika! - Gon exclaimed happily.
- Indeed, what a meeting! - Kurapika was also surprised, - Since we've met, sit down with us. Let's eat together. It's our treat.
Gon and Killua sat down at their table. Kurapika ordered tea and strawberry shortcake for everyone.
- I remember you,' Killua turned to Formaggio, 'You were with Risotto, back in the Celestial Arena. What happened to your arm?
- No reason. I fell down the stairs.
Soon the waiter came and served them their tea and a cake, which was divided into four pieces.
- Hey, what the hell is this?! There are four pieces! - Formaggio exclaimed.
- Yeah, well, there's four of us. What's the big deal? - Kurapika asked in surprise.
- Not that I'm superstitious, but I've heard somewhere that the number four brings bad luck. And this is four pieces! Couldn't it have been divided into five pieces?!
- Oh, come on. It's just superstition,' Kurapika took the fourth piece, 'That's it. Now it's three.
- As you know... - Formaggio said with a little apprehension and took his piece, after which Gon and Killua took theirs.
- By the way, what are you doing here? - Kurapika said to Gon and Killua, 'Do you have some business in Yorkshin?
- We're trying to get our hands on a very rare game,' Gon replied, 'But tell me what you're doing.
- I joined Risotto's team, and now we're tracking Spiders. Yesterday we fought them in the skyscraper where the Auction is being held, and now there's a small part of the building destroyed. You can go take a look.
These words almost made Gon and Killua's jaws drop. They didn't even know what to say to that.
- Are you serious?! - Killua was surprised, -Wow... I don't even know... Maybe you need some help? We can...
- Don't even think about it! - Kurapika interrupted him, -It's too dangerous for you. We can handle ourselves, and we're doing well so far. Don't you even think about getting involved in this! It's very serious. You're just kids.
- You're not so grown-up yourself... - Gon said quietly enough under his breath.
They continued eating cake and drinking tea, trying not to return to the previous topic.
Soon they finished eating and went about their business. Gon and Killua went to look at the skyscraper, while Kurapika and Formaggio went to their homes.
When they got home, Kurapika sat down on the couch and mentally prepared for the upcoming battle that would take place that evening.
- Are you sure it's going to work? - He asked Risotto, who was sitting by the window playing with a metal rose.
- You don't have to worry. Melone has already started preparing. With his ability, they won't be able to hide.
- All right, then. You know best.
The evening was only hours away. The sun was slowly approaching dusk.
'Well, this evening should decide a lot, if not everything. Now we just have to hope that Melone can actually find them.'
