Melone's POV
It was about an hour until sunset.
Melone was sitting on the roof of a small two story shop talking to Risotto on the phone.
- Do you have everything ready to go yet? - Risotto asked him.
- Almost. Now I'm waiting for the future homunculus to hatch from the 'incubator' I found on the street. It won't be long now. About one or two minutes.
- That's perfect. When it's ready, we'll immediately follow it to bring us to the Spiders. Okay, see you later.
After this conversation, Melone sat down near the edge of the roof and waited. He watched the woman at the end of the street. She was quite scared and kept looking around.
'There's not much left to do. I think picking a random prostitute as a mother is a pretty good idea. I haven't even had time to ask the standard questions to determine compatibility. But I think it'll work out.'
Melone turned his attention to his Stand. A report appeared that said the birth was complete.
'Di Molto! Now we can begin training.'
He began to give his standard lessons to the newborn homunculus.
After the short lessons, he looked again at the woman at the end of the street and watched as the homunculus cut her into cubes and ate them. It had the appearance of a light purple coloured humanoid with a ridge of spikes on its head.
'So it controls matter... Just like last time! Di Molto!'
He commanded the homunculus to go after the one from whose DNA it was born.
The homunculus immediately stole one of the motorbikes parked on the street and sped off towards its goal. Melone's mates noticed this and set off after the homunculus.
Melone crouched behind his stand, which was in the form of a walking computer, and began to follow the movements of his 'child'.
Thanks to mastering Nan's power, he had an upgrade for his stand. He could now see on the computer what the stand was seeing, as if it had a camera attached to it.
He continued to watch what the homunculus was seeing. From the looks of it, it was heading towards the slums.
'Now we just have to wait for him to track down his target. He's moving pretty fast, so he'll probably find and kill one of the spiders before everyone else catches up to him. By the way, what about the others? If I'm not mistaken, everyone except Formaggio and Illuso will fight if possible. They must find the Spiders' hideout and retrieve the stolen treasure. The rest of us will split up and hunt down the remaining Spiders. Pretty good plan.'
After a few minutes, the homunculus finally found someone.
- Hey, I found some freaks, but none of them are the one I'm supposed to be tracking. - The homunculus reported to Melone.
Melone began to look at the one the homunculus had found. It was a young blond guy dressed in purple trousers and a jumper. And next to him was a short guy with long, face-covering braids. It looked like they were looking for someone or something.
'Yeah, it seems like they're one of the Spiders too. Then we should eliminate them first.'
- They're our enemies too, and they need to be eliminated. Sneak up on them stealthily, and first eliminate that scythe monster and then that blond guy. - Melone gave him his orders.
- I know what to do without you! You better just watch me.
At those words, Melone was a bit taken aback.
''Damn, is it really starting to get out of control already? It's pretty fast. Just as long as I have time to destroy my opponents.'
The homunculus began to stealthily creep up on the enemy, hiding behind the walls of the destroyed buildings and turning into a two-dimensional shadow. His enemies didn't notice anything, and when he crept close enough he immediately turned the squinty one into a pile of flesh cubes.
- Kortopi! - The blond shouted as he saw his mate practically turned into mincemeat.
The homunculus didn't wait and immediately threw himself at the blond. It almost reached his throat, but he was able to fend off the attack and responded with a rather strong punch to his face.
- What a freak! I'll turn him into mincemeat and then into a pile of shit! - The homunculus began to shout in anger.
Instead of immediately attacking, the blond stuck some kind of antenna in his leg. Afterwards, Melone saw that the guy started to give off a golden glow.
'Wow! What is that!? Did he increase his power like that?'
- Get out of there! Retreat! - Melone shouted orders to the homunculus, 'It might be too dangerous!
- Go to hell you piece of shit! I know what I'm supposed to do!
The homunculus disobeyed Melone's order and launched himself at his opponent. They collided with each other at breakneck speed.
It's not hard to guess that this caused the homunculus to be torn apart and the image to disappear. However, moments before it was destroyed, Melone noticed that he had managed to rip a piece of flesh from his opponent's throat.
'Well... That's at least something.'
He moved away from his stand, got to his feet, and crouched right on the edge of the roof.
Watching the setting sun, he sighed heavily, opened the bottle of mineral water he had recently bought and took a few sips.
'What the fuck... And this kind of thing happens all the time. If the mother's temper is shitty, they're more deadly, but they get out of control faster. If they're normal, they're less deadly, but they're easy to control. Apparently, his mother's temper was crap because it got out of control so quickly. Ah, he had good potential. Killing two Spiders wasn't bad, but he could do better. Well, now we just have to wait and hope the others do well.'
Prosciutto's POV
Meanwhile, Prosciutto and Pesci had already entered the slum and were heading in the direction of where the homunculus had gone. They split up with the others to increase the chances of finding any of the Spiders.
- I still don't see anyone, bro,' Pesci said to Prosciutto, 'Do you think they're definitely hiding here?
- Probably. Melone's homunculus brought us here, and he's never wrong. So keep your eyes open.
They were walking amongst a bunch of abandoned buildings, quite a few of which had been pretty badly destroyed. Pesci was a little nervous. Prosciutto was quite calm. He was looking around, smoking his cigarette.
'What a Melone, you bloody shithead! Couldn't you tell your homunculus to drive slower? He was so fast we hardly realised we were heading for the slums.'
After a few minutes of walking through the streets of the slums, they made another turn around a corner and came upon one of the Spiders.
A large man appeared before them, looking like Frankenstein's monster. His entire face was covered in scars and wounds. He also had long ears hanging down to his chest with a pair of gold earrings on them.
'Aha... Apparently one of the Spiders.'
Unfortunately for them, he was turned to face them, and as soon as they saw him he immediately opened fire at them from the fingers of his hands like machine guns.
Pesci and Prosciutto managed to hide behind a wall, but it didn't help much as his bullets quickly crumbled it, gradually turning it into a pile of rubble.
Prosciutto noticed that one of the bullets had destroyed the cigarette he was smoking.
'What a mockery!'
- Run Pesci! - Shouted Prosciutto.
Miraculously dodging the bullets, they ran across the street and hid behind an unfinished two-storey building.
- What are we going to do, bro? - Asked Pesci.
- I can't do it alone. His attacks don't require much movement, which means my The Grateful Dead will be a little slower. I'm gonna need your help, Pesci.
- What do I do, bro?
Prosciutto put his hands up to throw Pesci up to the first floor.
- I'll throw you on the first floor, you wait for him to get as close as possible, then use your stand and attack him. Now go for it! - With that, Pesci immediately put his foot on Prosciutto's hands, and he threw him upwards with a little help from his stand.
Prosciutto activated his stand and began to wait. He looked out from around the corner and saw his enemy coming closer and closer. When he saw Prosciutto peeking out from around the corner he fired at him again, destroying the wall Prosciutto was hiding behind.
'Come on you bastard, come closer!'
Prosciutto held on with all his might. He had already started to use the stand to fend off the bullets.
When at last the big guy came close to him, Prosciutto shouted:
- Come on Pesci!
Pesci swung his fishing rod and threw the hook straight at the enemy. He quickly moved up and with a few shots managed to deflect the line a little from the desired trajectory. But it didn't help much. The hook of the stand was unable to penetrate the skin, but the fishing line was able to wrap around the enemy's throat. Pesci pulled the fishing line up and lifted the big man almost a metre above the ground. He was hanging as if on a gallows, but he still resisted.
- Come on, bro! - Shouted Pesci.
Prosciutto immediately rushed to the dangling big man. He took a leap and grabbed the stand's hand over his face, knocking him down and sealing him into the ground. The big guy instantly began to age, turning into a decrepit old man. Prosciutto decided to end it quickly and crushed his head with his stand.
'Whew... Another one got crushed.'
Pesci jumped down. Prosciutto meanwhile took out and lit a new cigarette.
- We did it, bro! We killed another one of the Spiders! - Pesci exclaimed happily. But Prosciutto just kept silent and looked thoughtfully at the corpse of the enemy, slowly smoking a cigarette. - What are you doing, bro? Are you not happy?
- I'm glad, of course, but... But it's a bit strange....
- What do you mean, weird?
- It's weird that he was wandering around by himself. What was he doing here? Patrolling? Was he guarding something? Or was he looking for someone?
- I don't quite follow you, bro.
- I'm trying to figure it out myself. All right, let's get out of here.
They took their time wandering the slums looking for possible enemies.
